The narrative follows Gabriel John Utterson, a London-based legal practitioner who investigates a series of strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr Henry Jekyll, and a murderous criminal named Edward Hyde.
It has come to be considered as a defining book of the gothic horror genre. The novella has also had a sizeable impact on popular culture, with the phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" being used in vernacular to refer to people with an outwardly good but sometimes shockingly evil nature.
The story was first published in 1886 and was initially sold as a paperback for one shilling in the UK.

to anyone else in grade 9 english trying to memorize quotes for their final exam here are some time stamps:
2:13:16 - "…provinces of good and ill which divide and compound man’s dual nature.”

I would say that other than this guy the only better reading of it I have come across was done by Christopher Lee and lets be honest its hard to beat The Count in terms of voice performance. But I would say that in some parts Christopher Lee's voice is perhaps a bit too deep and spoken in a whisper to hear certain line deliveries clearly

This story still creeps me out. It's so scary! I still love to reread the book.
My favorite movie version is from 1931 with the fabulous Fredric March, Miriam Hopkins and the wonderful supporting cast.
Ooh I shall have to check that out! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full screen adaptation at all. I remember the short lived TV adaptation with Jimmy Nesbit, but that’s about it!
