We've all listened to your telling of the story on a family drive from Cumbria to Norfolk. It broke up the journey and hopefully my son now has a better understanding for his GCSE exam in May. Thanks for sharing your excellent reading.
I'm from West Bengal, India. There are many TH-cam channels in TH-cam tells these Stories in our native language Bengali.. those channels are highly popular in TH-cam.. millions of subscribers.. almost every Bengali people hear them.. you are doing this same work in English too.. keep up the good work ❤

to anyone else in grade 9 english trying to memorize quotes for their final exam here are some time stamps: 2:13:16 - "…provinces of good and ill which divide and compound man’s dual nature.” 2:14:28 - "Man is not truly one, but truly two." 2:20:00 - “I knew myself, at the first breath of this life, to be more wicked, tenfold more wicked, sold a slave to my original evil; and the thought, in that moment, braced and delighted me like wine." 2:36:48 - “To cast in it with Hyde was to die a thousand interests and aspirations.” 2:39:28 - “My devil had been long caged, he came out roaring.” 2:42:49 - “Hyde was thenceforth impossible; whether I would or not, I was now confined to the better part of my existence"
thanks for this Elliot, a straight forward quality narration of this classic. There are so many jazzed up or adapted versions on YT and they are utter nonsense.
I would say that other than this guy the only better reading of it I have come across was done by Christopher Lee and lets be honest its hard to beat The Count in terms of voice performance. But I would say that in some parts Christopher Lee's voice is perhaps a bit too deep and spoken in a whisper to hear certain line deliveries clearly
This story still creeps me out. It's so scary! I still love to reread the book. My favorite movie version is from 1931 with the fabulous Fredric March, Miriam Hopkins and the wonderful supporting cast.
Ooh I shall have to check that out! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full screen adaptation at all. I remember the short lived TV adaptation with Jimmy Nesbit, but that’s about it!
Okay so, I haven't listened to the book yet but I'm both so excited and nervous to I LOVE the idea of this story coming to life through sound but I'm also the type of person who gets so picky about how characters are voiced and both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Edward Hyde are no exception to how particular I can get Wish me luck, and to the person reading; I'm sure you did a phenomenal job either way!!
