    Would it have come apart easier if you re inflated it

    • @shopandmath
      @shopandmath 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If the rim doesn’t wanna separate, you can re-inflate the inner tube and it’ll force it apart, but there is some danger to die. It could literally explode so you do need to be careful with the air pressure.
      Hopefully this helps thank you for taking the time to comment. It is much appreciated.

    Personally if I'm fitting a new tyre I also fit a new inner tube, as I have done since I first changed a bicycle tyre almost 60 years ago.

      I’m still having problems buying tires and tubes for some reason they’re all imported and the shipping and handling fee is outrageous.

    Tip: An easier way to split the rims is to simply take a flat screw driver and work it slowly around the half space, usually after three taps, it comes apart.

      If you’re only changing the tire try taking the bolts that hold the rim together and if they don’t want to separate because they’re seized you can add pressure to the inner tube which will pop the rims apart

    it can take a few mins or a few hrs to change a tyre depending on how easy they come apart.
    For mine i changed 3 of the tyres with no probs. but the 4th the hex key bolts holding on the inner rim just refuse to come undone and spent all day just trying to get that 1 rim off before i gave up. its got 8 hex bolts on the inside of the wheel. 3 came off easy the rest just refuse to budge. so now ive got 3 brand new 300x 8 tyres on and 1 14x3.50 tyre.
    the original tyres were the 14x3.50 directional tread and they kept slipping and sliding on wet leaves. as those tyre size only come in directional tread i got 300x8 block tread tyres that fit on the rim. lost 1 inch ground clearance but at least they fit.
    tried solid tyres on the back but the scooter is just to heavy for them and they got flat spots when it was left standing over night and took a few miles to round off again so felt like i had square wheels so now putting those on the front and neumatics on the back.
    prob now with 2 diff tyre sizes on the front 1 solid at 50psi and the other a bigger neumatic tyre thats only 32psi max its going to cause a few probs with steering till i can get those flippin hex bolts off.
    stupid dealer put road tyres on an all terrain scooter hence the slipping and wheel spins on wet surfaces. its not even the right wheels for it. they put wheels on from a diff make and model and renamed the scooter just so they could say its exclusive that dealer. but its very hard to get the right size tyres to fit it cause of what they did.
    got a neighbour who likes to puncture my tyres with a flat head screw driver hence the solid tyres.
    ive got a rough idea who it is but no one has seen him do it so cant send him the bill for the repair cost.
    3 times in a month both left hand tyres punctured. He couldnt get at the right side tyres as they were against a wall. £70 call out fee for the engineer to come out then £15 per new tube. so learnt how to replace my own tubes by watching him do the repairs.

    What size are the bolts ??? Metric or standard? The 4 or 5 and the center

    • @shopandmath
      @shopandmath 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John
      In most cases the bolts or metric because most of the scooters are made in China or Taiwan
      As far as four bolts or five bolts that usually Depends on the diameter of the tire most larger tires or rims are five and the smaller ones are usually 4
      I’ve seen some really old ones that have three bolts on the tires as well
      Also most tires and rims are not interchangeable at least that has been my experience
      I hope this helps

      Thank you...turns out , 17mm & 11mm... Also a good idea to put a little air in the new inner tube to get it to pull away from center as not to pinch new tube between rim halves...thank you for reply...moms happy

    Do you havea video on wobbly wheels

    • @raysfix
      @raysfix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I do not. There are three main reasons for having wheels that wobble.
      (1) bad bearings
      To fix this problem, it requires replacing the bearings. There are no quick fixes for this usually one bearing school. There is a noise or some type of grinding associated with it if it gets to the point where the wheel can wobble.
      (2) bent axle or bent control arm mechanism
      This is the most costly repair and might not be worth repairing because the repair cost will be more than the machine
      In most cases, this is caused by collision or dropping the machine and most of the cases that I’ve seen it’s in the back wheel or drive wheel
      There is a small silver lining to this if it’s in the front it is possible that one of the control arms have come loose and that could be a very simple repair of just tightening up the control arm again
      (3) improper wheel installation
      This could be a bent rim, or the rim could be installed on a bit of an angle with something stuck in behind it to wedge it out a small amount. This is more popular than you might think.
      A very small amount of we’ll play at the bottom, can’t translate into a large amount of movement at the top of the machine.
      I hope this helps you.

    How to get a tyre off mobility scooter that hasn't got a spit rim.

    • @shopandmath
      @shopandmath 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are a couple of ways, but honestly neither of them are good. They generally produce some type of damage.
      The first way I would try is using a wheel puller, which basically has three arms and a bolt going through the centre that will physically pull the wheel off of the arbour
      I have also used to sweat the part off
      Unfortunately, this generally causes a good amount of damage, because most of the time the wheels are aluminum, and the bearings are not designed to be heated
      One of my other videos I also cut the axle off and replace the axle which is unpleasant

    INTERESTING THAT THE OLD TIRE WAS A GREY TIRE AND THE NEW ONE WAS A BLACK TIRE????? GREY TIRE INFLATES TO 50 PSI AND THE NEW ONE IS WHAT 35 PSI ????

    • @williambelford9661

      Tyre pressure is relative to the vehicle not the tyre. Two cars can be fitted with the same brand and size of tyres but they require to be set at different pressures 😏
