- I've been wanting to do this mix since I saw "Apocalypse Now" in 1979. I always knew it would work... just having the equipment and skills to complete the project is why it didn't happen back then. Now, over 40 years later, I remembered this idea... and here it is! Please enjoy. Presented as an honor and tribute to the great band The Doors and the outstanding movie "Apocalypse Now" (for entertainment purposes only).

My Dad would have loved this. But he lives on through me so I'm sure he's enjoying it too.
I also wish Morrison could have lived to see The Doors rediscovered and revered by newer generations. I would have loved to hear his comments about their music being used in Apocalypse Now! or a cool fusion like this. I like to think he would have been very pleased, and also if he'd still been alive Oliver Stone wouldn't have made that movie or, if he had he wouldn't have dared to simply focus on sensationalized, half true stories and rumors about him.
Outstanding my man....outstanding!!! The Doors is what Vietnam (The 'NAM) is about. I was there in 1969..saw some of my buddies get shot to hell. I was one of the lucky ones to make it out of the jungles of the 'Nam. But let me tell you the names of all my partners that never made it back to the states...will never be forgotten. All these U.S. Infantryman in Vietnam, who lay in the jungles to protect the lives of the Vietnamese people and children from atrocities of the North will be sailing above in Heaven. And your mix of "Apocalypse Now", with the beautiful Doors music must go on forever. Let it not be forgotten!! For there is a God who will always watch on those who do good for others. Amen my brother....keep on playing!

The first commented 3 years ago when my husband passed away now I have listened to this it really hit home my husband was a Vietnam vet this was intense it all went together so good. I'm damn near speechless. It brought him close to me again, not that he was far off, thank you. And thank you doors.

I bought the 2CD Apocalypse Now Soundtrack in the '90s, believing it would emulate the movie's treatment of 'The End' & 'Riders' but was disappointed that it did not.

Wow, just fecking wow! Genius move, a perfect marriage of the doors music & film dialogue! Spotted this just before getting me head down , thought it was gonna show some film but when I realised it was a ‘soundtrack’ I put me headphones on got comfy & closed my eyes an when on a trip an what a trip! A perfect journey through the ‘horror ‘ perfectly timed ending with the breaking of dawn ! Yea man this as blew me mind! 🤯 break on thru!! 🙏🍻🤪
Oh forgot to say what a great mix too, is perfect for headphones, great choice of songs , all add to the drama & pathos , if audiobooks came with a soundtrack this would be the one others would have to measure too! 🙃😬✌️

wow, this made the doors come alive again. their music is great but the combination of narration strung threw it made it sparkle. seems like it was made just for this film. and it had me on the edge to see what song comes next. so refreshing.

I literally just stumbled onto this and of course I stuck it in my playlist. Wasn’t old enough to when doors were around born 71 but my dad brought me up on this type of music. The movie is in my top 3 movies with some very kool one liners but the sound track is absolutely amazing 100%. Well done for doing this brilliantly executed. This should be called Apocalypse Prayer. It is the spiritual child to Jim's American Prayer and deserves a vinyl release. Well done J.D. Zack, you've made a wonderful thing here.

Bravo!! Sweet PERFECTION!!! The Doors music represents the whole dark feeling behind Apocalypse Now! From the opening scene? It just takes you in immediately! Something made even more perfect, when it's learned that Francis had ties to both, Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, from the old dayz at UCLA film school! He even received the original four track master recording, so that the movie version is obviously different from the one that appears on the album! I could keep going ,as there is so much behind the scenes stuff that isn't widely known? Unless you've read Francis's book or the 6 disc Blu ray! Which has plenty of info! Anyways Thank-you for posting this, as it's much appreciated!❤🎸😎👍

Very cool concept indeed. The production company paid for the legal rights to use any and all of The Doors' entire Musical Catalog as they saw fit in the movie. The only song, with Jim Morrison's vocals, to make the final theatrical release was "The End." One of the sound engineers who worked on the movie discovered something about this song that Elektra Records managed to keep secret for over 10 years: Jim's F-Bomb tirade at the end of the editable section: Mother, I want to..... & the climatic instrumental part that follows.

@@stargazer4625 The Canadian network television peoples, especially their censors (standards/DECENCY), had never heard about Jim's version of Greek Tragedy prior to the guys starting the song. Their solution after the end of that performance: delete the entire section of the performance. Another note on the live versions when Oliver Stone played his practical joke on the fans with Val Kilmer as Jim: it was commonly believed that there were only four complete concert recordings of "The End." Thanks to the reactions to the 1997 Box Set hitting the market and TH-cam videos, we now know that this song was recorded a heck of a lot more times than those four in 1991.
