      Is there not a substrate the filon is a adheared too? I thought there was a fiber board backing.
      I have also watched where 5mm luan was used as the substrate and epoxied to the filon before reinstalling. Please advise as I am about to make this repair in Ky. Thanks SDP

    Two questions:
    What size screws did you use to re attach the cap
    What adhesive is best for the reattachment

    • @yourrvspecialists
      @yourrvspecialists  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The screw size typically 1-1/4” square drive no 2 Robinson. You can use self tap or standard screws.
      The adhesive for the material or the sealants?
      The sheeting adhesive red glue is T440

    • @yourrvspecialists
      @yourrvspecialists  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A front cap replacement typically runs around $5 - $6k. Not only do you want to solve for a new cap, but you want to solve the problem that caused the water damage - does the roof and/or body need to be resealed? Do you need new insert moldings? Are the clearance lights cracked? etc.

    • @yourrvspecialists
      @yourrvspecialists  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brent, your best bet is ask your local repair facility for their source. We purchase our front caps from All-Rite Custom Manufacturing. Freight and crate on a front cap is very expensive. The closer you can source it to you, the better!

    • @yourrvspecialists
      @yourrvspecialists  ปีที่แล้ว

      Prices on a job like this do range wildly. Not only is it replacing the front cap, but also fixing the source of water intrusion (roof, sidewalls, etc) so the same thing won’t happen to the new cap. Typically, this would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $5k when it’s all done.

    • @yourrvspecialists

      It’s really depends on each unit, most times water does damage the roof line, floor and side walls.
      Due to shipping and products always fluctuating we can only provide pricing at time of repairs. Typically all units have been opened up and inspected for the extent of damages. All customers all given a low and rough high cost prior to starting.
