    You went from disappointed to a smile with that vanquish. But you are correct messing around with & comparing your RC’s is super fun. Life is so serious it’s nice to just Play! I’m definitely very into my RC’s but often remind myself it’s just a RC & to not take it to seriously. I really enjoy all my RC’s I just don’t have enough time with them that’s my problem.

      Thanks and I think you're spot on. When you're younger you have time but no money, then if things go well and you have a bit of income later in life, time constraints start to get kinda heavy! Still, we've got it pretty good here, that's for sure!

      I can say the same of the regular Capra with any suitable tire and wheel combo, really!
      But the Phoenix looks better :)

    Ohh mid-week bonus video! 🙌🙌 Awesome to see these two go head to head on your full course and it's cool to see how far the Phoenix has come with some simple tweaks. The extra wide track width of the Capra was certainly an equalizer on this day. I think it would be a ton of fun to see more 10-gate challenges and it looks like you have enough course to move gates around (assuming it's not a tire test or other official run to compare against previous runs). The rigs could have a feature in common, or be drastically different and just have fun seeing who does better on a given day. Hopefully this type of video is less time consuming to edit together. I have been fighting off urges to pick up a 4ws Capra since ordering the new FlySky G7P. The thumb dial and momentary toggle makes it very promising for 4-wheel-steer and a winch control 😁. My C1 project is progressing. The Mojave body is painted, assembled, and wired for lights. Next up I'll make my interior and fender lines, and hopefully be maxed out with that 🙌. I'll probably still run a driver because it's fun and really ties the room together lol

      That's exciting to read, Andy! You have a bunch of stuff going on, awesome!
      I'll try and find some interesting head to head matches to lever in between all the other stuff coming this year. With so much choice I'm sure there's probably someone out there trying to compare one rig to another, whatever the combo!

      Enduro kit, I haven't built. However, the Enduro platform is capable, has good materials and design and is durable. My use of the Sendero has been extensive and it hasn't missed a beat. The Knightrunner and Gatekeeper also are capable within their intended design and I expect similar durability from them.

    Quite a challenge to make the Phoenix face the Capra for pure performance, but then again, that width clearly hurt its progress and made the match much more even than I would've thought at first.
    I was particularly surprised at the Phoenix's performance against stock. Yes, it could've been a wider difference. As you said both on the chill rythm to try to finish without making mistakes, as well as the gate that you thought could be done better and gain a few negative points. But still, the results do far from telling the whole picture and, as far as performance at competition is concerned, there really isn't that much in it, or is there??
    One more thing, when driving the Capra you touch a subject I was just thinking about a day or two ago, why not more people put sensored brushless in their crawlers. You'd think that would give greater precision. Although I replied myself that's just beyond the law of diminishing returns. I do wonder if any or in which particular cases that would prove to be a substantial gain. Maybe there's just another idea for your already quite extensive list of options!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Capra is objectively the better performer here. Handicapped as it was, it beat the phoenix, while the Phoenix put in its best showing. But it was close, yeah!
      Brushless: if you like FOC, brushed can't touch it. But a good brushed system will be similar to a good sensored brushless system. At the budget end of things, cheap brushless beats cheap brushed, usually - but a cheap brushless system is similar money to a decent brushed system, so again, things kind of equal out.
      The most uncontroversial statement I can make here is brushless is significantly more power efficient, so you get better battery life from brushless, given similar output in any comparison. Brushless usually gives you a wider range of low to high speed, too. Cheers for the ideas, I'll think on them.

      I don't recall any bird, I'll have to look back through this now! We do have all of these birds here though: a wedge tailed eagle family, a mated goshawk pair, a mated kookaburra pair (I'll share an IG video of them actually mating when I can dig it up), a hilarious gang of magpies, a growing and large population of white winged choughs, a shy pair of owlet-nightjars, a nesting pair of ravens, sulphur crested white cockatoos, yellow tailed black cockatoos, an epic but transient corella population and many pigeon and parrot varieties.
      No emus.

      How far does a tank of gas get you on a car?
      (it depends on the car, motor size and type, drive style, terrain, etc etc etc)
      The 450s give me about 11 minutes on a brushed system in a Comp setting. I use one per 5 minute course so there's ample power.
      The 700s give me about 15-20 minutes useful drive time on most 1/10 crawlers. Again, it varies, but that's roughly going to apply for you too. That's as specific as I can get when answering generally!

    Too bad that a worthless test track. You should have ran the Capra with rim/tires suited for it or run the Portal with the Capra rim/tire combo. The Capra is much more of a technical crawler than that top heavy Portal. I do like them both. Maybe in your area there isn't a desert with real rock cliffs to climb.

      @@jimsskids9710 was it brand new or did you buy it used? It sounds like the receiver could be wet, possibly. Dry it thoroughly then test again.
      It could also be the radio isn't bound to the receiver. Try binding it again.
      It could be also/as well as not being bound that you're experiencing a fail safe throttle setting. Manual is here (manuals.plus/team-associated/xp130-2-4ghz-3-channel-radio-system-manual ) and here's the relevant bit I'm referring to:
      FAILSAFE FUNCTION SETTING
      After successful binding of the transmitter and receiver, the fail-safe setting can be saved. If the connection between the transmitter and receiver is interrupted, the vehicle will revert to a preset throttle position.
      To set this position, place the vehicle on a suitable stand so that the wheels do not touch the ground, then turn the transmitter and vehicle on and install the Bind connector into the “F/S” pins on the receiver. The LED on the receiver will flash rapidly. Now move the throttle trigger to the position that you would like to establish as the fail-safe setting (neutral is recommended) and while maintaining that position, remove the Bind connector from the receiver and immediately plug it back in. The receiver LED should now be solid and the failsafe position set.

    Love your crawler track you are going to help me find the right crawler.
    Do you like metal axles? 🤔 I'm having a hard time I always break axles axles I'm only running two s lipo but I do let my tires hook in sometimes. I even just got some metal ARB axles and broke them too.
    What are your favorite most durable axles that work the best?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The most durable axles don't have to be metal but they do need to have lots of support material in the right place if they're plastic.
      Regarding axles in particular, I haven't broken anything on the big name gear I have here. The TRX4, SCX10.3 and Gen 8 V2 axles are going to be long term durable, no question.
      The main breakages I've had with axles were the RC4WD YOTA axles on the Beast II, they were not good. The YOTA 2 axles are better but the gearing is the big consideration for breakages.
      I've blown diffs on the metal King Kong RC CA-10 rear axle, the metal RC4WD Beast II front axle and the plastic housing Gmade GS02F BOM TC front axle.
      Drive shafts go on low quality metal and weaker plastic. I had a shaft and then cvd joints blow at the Worlds crawling in 2018, that was on a Vaterra Ascender.
      Honestly, the bigger name axles and shafts in modern trucks are really good. Traxxas, Axial, Redcat, Element RC, Cross RC, even most of the newer RGT stuff - all quite good. Go smaller than 1/10 scale and it can be a different story.
