  • We're building an rc comp truck using the Vanquish VRD platform, including the RTR Stance and the VRD Carbon Kit that we built and finished. So, let's put them head to head and compare the results.

    The VRD Carbon kits also has machined ring and pinion vs. the sintered one piece ring/spool, and pinion. I love the kit and it went together just as you’d expect from Vanquish.

    Both are absolutely amazing value, but in very different ways. The VRD Carbon kit includes an insane amount of extras, while the Stance kit gets you electronics and what is probably the best RTR radio in the business.
    For anyone with experience, I'd say pick up the kit and spec your own electronics. For anyone getting into it, pick up the Stance RTR and upgrade it as you find it necessary.

    Interesting comparison. It be nice to see rtr vs kit comparisons for orher brands and price ranges

      What do I get to make my rtr 37% over

    It would have been good to see what it would cost to build the stance out to be the carbon. Sometimes $150-200 more over a period of time is ideal but also still having fun at the same time

      At 4:30 they show the price. Rtr is $535 and the kit was $995 👍

    I built a carbon kit and got my son the RTR. For non comp people, I feel like 37% OD is too much because on steep climbs in the yard, the rear wheels spinning so slow doesn’t help you, it hurts. My son’s RTR does better in my opinion but I do love all the upgraded parts that come with the carbon. I am going to order a set of standard portal gears for the front to bring my OD down to 21% and see how that does. I just wish AMain carried these because that is where I purchase most of my parts and can’t find them on the website.

    Both are really nice and not too much different in price per performance.

    I went for the Carbon kit, because I enjoy building them... and had most of the electronics wheels and tires upgrades, that I prefer, sitting around. I wish more vendors would do kits instead of RTRs. On an RTR you end up replacing most of the stuff anyway.

    You cannot talk about things like weight bias without including massive items such as the main battery.

    I want to buy the VRD Stance RTR but I'll still have to buy Brushless power for it like a HW Fusion Pro and then change the servo. Here in Canada it's $675CAD then add $200 for Fusion Pro maybe around $50-$100 for a servo. That adds up almost $1K for me but I want to get one, it'll be my first Vanquish Product rig and a good comp crawler type. I'm selling my TRX-4 Sport with Traxx and Arrma Big Rock V3 to fund for the VRD Stance.

    Amazing video Brett! Crawling is my passion. I almost went with Vanquish on my last build but decided to go with the Element Enduro Builders Kit 2.

    very nice video, as always. I have never bought anything from amain, mainly because I live in europe, but I love this channel.
    Anyways, Brett, you should consider checking out the new kyosho fazer rally rtr. (fz02-r, I guess) Pretty sure you are much into the Fazer ones. I got mine a few weeks ago and still love it. I'm sure it's worth a look.
    Greetings from Germany.

    What was the point of keeping the tires the same if you go and use the Fusion and a crazy strong servo in the kit build?

  • @fromthebackofmymind
    @fromthebackofmymind 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I own a servo on axle crawler thats scratch built. It crawls well. I have been thinking of a rack and pinion setup. I don't own a 3D Printer but it would be a worthy project for someone to attempt.

    Or you can buy the RTR, keep stuff you want from it and build out a second rig and sell it for cheap and recoop some cost. Just saying

    What are the rules or objective of a crawling comp? Getting from point A to B? Times point A to B? Something else?

    • @user-fk8zx8li7b
      @user-fk8zx8li7b 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's definitely not driving in a circle or driving in a circle to beat your same time. It's also not driving straigh really fast😂 the point is making it up crazy lines without hitting gates in a fashionable time. It also has extra points for how scale your vehicle looks because the more scale you go the less performance you get. And just like any rc event being a better driver than the next person!! And rules/regulations are depending on the host of the crawler comp.

    • @joshuajkoplin
      @joshuajkoplin 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-fk8zx8li7bOh cool! So there’s judges and you can get points for truck styling and points for line choices and how much “show” you put on? Kind of like drifting comps in a way.

    • @user-fk8zx8li7b
      @user-fk8zx8li7b 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joshuajkoplin yea thats probably one of the closest rc comps to the rc crawler comps. The cooler your vehicle looks the more points you get better angles/lines you take reduce time which get added up for points at the end. But you don't get extra points for how you drive or the lines you take instead in effects your time which add up to points at the end.

    I like the idea of the vrd carbon.but I feel there to late for the aftermarket game 6* skid is outdated g speed like.good kit for someone new to the hobby.rtr electronics are horrible. Sad to see a main pushing rtr

    Anyone know if the fusion pro would fit on the rtr? Seems that the carbon has more space between the transmission and drive than the rtr.. anyway to just swap out some parts to make it fit?

      Are you sure? Each truck has the same motor space available, or so I thought.

    Im surprised you even made a video like this lol. Good video but it seems that this is for people who probably shouldnt be buying a comp crawler to begin with.
