I have a total of 5 Imou cameras so far, they are fantastic value for money and so easy to set up and use. Easily as good quality as the more expensive cameras such as ring at a fraction if the price.
Hi ,the videos ok but this demonstration seems to show it connecting to a router not direct to a phones wifi ,is there a way to connect it just to a phone over wifi ? I can not find any video showing the method in English ,thanks

Those who are facing issues with connecting to router, first press the Reset button for 10 seconds. Once the LED turns green, the quickly connect the Camera to the router immediately.
@@Hhsvhg rotate the camera upside down with your fingers and you will find reset button and memory card slot. Try to take the help from User Guide that came with your camera
@@Hhsvhg the reset button is on the microcard door, near that bloody useless qr code. I hope that you will have luck because , reset button or not imou is a bloody lottery
I've spent over an hour trying to get this working!!! I have an IMOU Ranger 2C and after I scan the device through the app it gets stuck on Connecting to the device hotspot... and that is as far as it goes! Tried resetting it multiple times. When adding it manually I get failed to connect to the hotspot device please try again 😞if anyone has any solutions I'd be very happy to know before I use it in my next baseball throw practice!
@@markmckean816 I solved it using a different phone. It worked flawlessly on the older phone. Once I added it to the account I could then use it though my normal phone.
How long will you provide the free service? Will software stop working after certain period? Because you have server expenses for connecting camera & software.
I have these cameras however since getting a new router (same as the last one) I now cannot connect to any of my cameras it's saying it can connect to the hotspot and when I do find the camera it asked for a password I've not set yet
I use my IMOU ranger with Contacam monitoring software which does all the recording onto my long term storage device. Whereas most RTSP cameras do not need any fancy code so Contacam (and I dare say other Monitoring and CCTV software) the Ranger 2 needs a little bit more text to get it to work so you have to use this as the camera address: rtsp://192.168.1.8/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&unicast=true&proto=Onvif&unicast=true&proto=Onvif where 192.168.1.8 is the IP address of your Ranger 2 . i would suggest you bind the camera to that IP address in your router too ! Now, that worked well for my system even after i changed my router. Obviously all of that text should be one long 'sentence' and not in 2 bits so if when you copy it, you get a line break, edit it to take it out. Setting it up this way, you let the Contacam software do all the filtering, but it CANNOT of course work the pan and tilt, it will just take the feed being broadcast by the Ranger 2. Of course, this is what worked for me, your system will be different but this might help you at least to access the camera output. I recommend Contacam software - you can get it for free but a small donation of $10 (lifetime fee !) means the 'Please Donate' watermark at the bottom of the screen is removed. You can get it from www.contaware.com Best wishes

Exactly the same issue is with me.. I am still struggling.. maybe the camera is faulty or the wifi network is set to 5g by default but showing 2.4ghz. I have asked for a replacement, lets see how it goes after I receive a new one.

Create a hotspot for your cctv to connect to, Do as usual, but when cctv selects wifi options, select your other phone’s hotspot(not the one you’re using in the app) It will finish the setup and then just go back to the app and change the wifi network to your desired wifi. I tried that, hotspot is connecting fine but when I try changing it on app from hotspot to my wifi it says the device cannot connect even though my phone is on 2.4ghz and the worst part is the camera is also connected to the 2.4ghz wifi but still, today from past 5 hours I am struggling, gave up and then decided to go for a replacement.
I have a workaround which means I have my PC continuously monitoring the feed through traditional CCTV software, since the Ranger 2 can deliver an RTSP/Onvif protocol feed to such software and you then let the software do all the heavy lifting and monitoring/filtering the footage and then saving it. Look up Contacam software from Contaware.com - it is free to use but since it keeps getting updated, a lifetime donation of $10 helps the developer a bit to keep improving it. There are no subscription fees !! But if you DO use Contacam you will need to enter a more complex camera address in the system referencing the IP address of the camera. More detail in my reply to Mt Iulian is this thread. The advantage is you could be monitoring the feed 24/7 and storing it or filtering out times when there is no movement in the field of vision and then if you needed relevant footage from say 2 hours or 2 days ago, your PC has saved it. I can also view the live footage on my PC, a tablet or another phone for of all my exterior cameras using the simple browser link localhost:8800/ but you have to have Contacam software (or other software) on a PC to do the heavy lifting wherein you are leveraging the great RTSP feature of the Ranger 2.
The sad thing on my Ranger 2 is it not producing any hotspot. And when I tried connect it to ethernet then going to wifi, it's not possible to connect to my wifi. Even my wifi is 2.4ghz. Help
Why on earth is the app constantly logging me out, it's so annoying. Why can't I stay logged in? By the way, the set up process in far from you have shown in the video. And what's more. I can't set up the camera from abroad which is a big let down.
I have successfully connected it. But it works only in Wi-Fi zone, where camera is also connected. But Cellular data can't get connection with camera, though I have turned on the cellular data mode on apps to get the access! What's the solution please?
I have a ranger, I don't know what you mean with "need for cloud subscription", but camera works with and without cloud subscriptiona and with and without human detection and smart tracking. You can combine them in any way.

Did you work it out? I'm struggling to get the thing to recognise that I've plugged in an sd card. The way the app pushes their premium cloud storage I wouldn't be surprised if they've made home storage as awkward as possible

This IP camera has no LAN support , when my data stops it stops working
In hotspot u should change to 2.4 ghz from 5. It took one day for me to understand.
