While serving in the USAF, 1958 as an air freight loader, I remember seeing and participating loading the C-46 at Elmendorf AFB. That was the first, last, and only time I can recall having seen it or any other like that one. Nice surprise viewing this one.
The one C-46 that's on here called "THE TINKER BELL" was located in Monroe,NC until she was sold to a place in West Virgina I think or Virgina. I hated to see her leave here. Great video take care.
I saw the Russian LI-2 live, is it a copy of Douglas or this Curtis?! The old school technique looks very epic in action. And most importantly, this technique is timeless and understandable. Everything new and modern will go to the landfill, but this technology will be revived and will continue to serve people!
I have flown in the CAF's China Doll many times out of Camarillo, CA back in the 90's to airshows in the western states. On a couple of occasions, I even got to fly her. I even did some work on Tinker Belle when the CAF owned her and she was parked at the CAF hangar in Camarillo for a time.
El mejor avión jamás construido. C 46. Tube la suerte de volar en el como piloto. En puerto rico de noche por poquito puse una carretilla de huevos despegando.
