Yo, Remko...Gape Kaplan should be the featured guest here. He was the ESPN WSOP announcer for years. Gabe even did the ESPN WSOP broadcast with Stu Ungar's last WSOP win... 1 before his death. Kaplan did play a ton of cash games and tournaments at Commerce Casino too. Nothing against Norman Chad but Kaplan is the person with the best viewpoint and background to ESPN Poker prior to 2003.

I love to get to a turn card emotionally tense moment, tank a bit, ask the dealer, "Do we allow check raising here?", and when he says "Yes" I check. To me it's valuable and very funny.
It works 4.3% of the time.

The story is that Varkoni busted Hellmuth with Q,10 then goes on to win the tournament with that same hand. Ever since, Hellmuth has been cursed by Q, 10 and it has become his bane!

Wow, 2002 poker?? Back around 2002 No Limit Poker wasn't even the most popular game in cash games. It was Limit Hold-em poker, Omaha Hi Lo and 7 card Stud were the most popular cash games in casino. Only in tournaments where NL Hold-em was starting to take its hold. Then 2003 happened and what a time for poker !!! MAKE Poker Great Again....I say

I like how you have to flip up your cards if you were caught bluffing back then. Now everybody just mucks so you never know exactly what they are holding but back then he flipped up that king queen as soon as he was called. I think they need to bring that back. Unless I'm wrong about that but I think if someone calls you, you should have to show no matter what! It would change poker a little bit nowadays I'll tell you that. But hey maybe back then you could just muck the hand I dont know I just saw the one guy do it who eventually won the whole tournament starting with a pretty small stack I believe.
