After experiencing the same "no power" issue, I researched online and found one common thread in all the cases. That thread was the Thermal Fuse. This video was instrumental in showing me the nature of the fix, I ordered the part, performed the steps as shown and presto, problem solved. Thank you very much, you saved me time and quite a bit of cash.
Want to thank you for this video, used the fuse from old dishwasher to fix new one, you just saved me repair man money. Thank you for what you do, and God bless.
I did the same thing first go-round. Only replaced the fuse and not the wires. It lasted for about 30 minutes. Replaced it again a few days ago along with the new wires. Has ran great ever since.
Thank you, you just saved my bacon. I got home at 4:00 am to find my dishwasher inoperable and after pulling it out and undoing the brass water line I was able to reach the plug. After testing the plug with my meter I found it to be just fine , then I went on you tube and found this video and tested the fuse and sure enough it was bad. The only thing I had lying around was a 20 amp automotive relay so I put that in and everything is now working again😀😀. Will order a fuse on Monday and take the relay out then. Thank you so much because I can't afford a new dishwasher👍
Thank you SO much. Our dishwasher just stopped working 2 days ago, didn't drain all the way and the panel would not light up. I just showed your video to my husband and in 5 minutes the dishwasher was back up and running. :)
Thanks for the comment! The wires are replaced to insure you are getting a good connection. Sometimes the connectors get burnt or are not making a good connection. The factory includes the new wires to help prevent future problems.
I found the reason the hard way , there is a “design” issue with the fuse clip they overheat I replaced only the fuse and it was stopping again and again, bought another fuse and the same, replace the rubber gasket as steam could over heat the controller area Lastly, somebody wrote a comment somewhere telling the design flaw and replaced the whole wire and problem gone
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was having the same problem again. It seems my dishwasher eats these things. Well my warranty ran out so it became a DIY thing. If this wasn't here I would have a really big drying rack. Thank you again
While this is a handy video to show how simple it is to replace the thermal fuse, it would be helpful to know what is recommended prior to replacing the fuse given something caused it to burn out. My concern is that I will replace it and it will burn out immediately again because another part failed in the first place. I have already replaced the control board on my Whirlpool Dishwasher GU2400XTPS1 and the only progress I have made is that the flashing lights are different now than before!
What is the reason for abandoning the old connectors and re-stripping the wire leads? Is it simply because that is the way the replacement kit is made? Is there a technical reason?

@kman7899 If the thermal fuse blows the dishwasher will be completely dead. This fuse protects your dishwasher from overheating. If the dishwasher overheats this device will fail to prevent further damage to your appliance. If it does fail you should repair the overheating problem first and then replace this thermal fuse.
I just replaced the thermal fuse a couple of months ago on my whirlpool quiet partner 3. It worked fine up until about a week ago when my dishwasher was in the locked position. Since I depressed the heated dry button, now the heated dry button is blinking constantly. I even replaced the control board and it didn't change a thing. What should I do? Please let me know. I can't afford a whirlpool technician and I definitely can't afford another dishwasher
Really helpful. I don't think it could have been explained any simpler or better. I suspected a blown fuse in my dishwasher but didn't recognize it. Now I know exactly what to do. Thanks!
Can anyone explain why it's necessary to cut off the old connectors and splice on the new yellow wires? Is there a problem with the old slide-on connectors to the fuse?
In need of help with my dishwasher, I ran the wash today and when I came home 4 hrs later I was surprised to see the wash still on. When I opened it, the bottom was filled with water and that's when I noticed the hose on the top rack was completely off. Now its not running at all. What could solve the problem
If I still have power to the dishwasher, could it still be the thermal fuse? None of the controls work and no LEDs light up with the exception of the clean LED, which flashes once when I close the door firmly. I already tried unplugging it for several minutes as well as throwing the circuit breaker.
I just replaced the thermal fuse. Second time in a week. The first time, I didn't use the wires that came with the kit, I used the existing ones. I found out that you NEED to use the new wires, or you can have the same problem again.
Same thing here, fuse keeps popping. I also used the old wires. But, the wires are cannot be part of the problem, makes no sense. too much heat or fuse is faulty. How the current gets to the fuse is a non-issue. How do you explain the wires being part of the problem?

After having no power to the dishwasher, I did this exact repair. Once complete, the power came back and when I started the dishwasher cycle water started to flow as it normally does. After 10 seconds it stopped. The lights are still on, but it seems like its stuck. I canceled and started a new cycle. Same thing, it starts like normal, water starts flowing in, and then after 10 seconds it stops. I can hear the control panel inside clicking. Any thoughts?
Hey Everyone, my Whirlpool Quiet Wash Plus dishwasher (model DU920QWDB4) from around 2005 has a slightly different assembly, so yours might too. It's a little more difficult to get to the control panel. After removing the 8 inside screws, you have to slide the FRONT decorative panel off to get access to a final screw holding the housing together. It's all smooth sailing after that!
I have a dishwasher. Whirlpool modelDU920PFGB0. What it says is it does not unlock and pushing the unlocking area on panel makes the lock light blink! However, It stays lit after blinking and will not start! Help$
My Kenmore has no lights on the control panel and will not start at all, no matter what button I press. There is power to the unit. The strange part is that this has happened a couple of times before and somebody can come along a few hours later, push the start button, and the unit starts and runs. It is important to note that for a couple of months now, you cannot change any of the wash options or set the delay timer. You have the option of running the dishwasher or not running the dishwasher.
Could it be a thermal fuse on my dish washer if all lights on the other buttons except the start button come on when pressed? I have a 2 year old that like to continue pressing buttons or anything he can get his hands of and was doing this to our dish washer and not always easy to keep him from doing this when the wife is busy cooking, etc....
***** I found the problem i cleaned the control board because it was really dirty but what it was doing was i could press the other buttons the light came on but when i pressed the start button it did nothing
+SALLY MUFFET It will not. Most Bosch unit don't have a thermal fuse. Door switch/latch assembly or control board problems could cause the unit to not power up.
All buttons light up and can be switched off (wash cycles, cancel, and drain, which activate the drain) I select a wash cycle and press start but nothing happens. What gives?

No power whatsoever, power arriving on the left side of the use as confirmed by a voltage detector or voltmeter, but not on the right side. If you have power on both the left and right side, it's likely the control board.
My Whirlpool dishwasher starts and puts water in the tub, releases the soap but something prevents the wash cycle from starting. Is that the thermal fuse?
I changed the thermal fuse because the clean light was blinking 7 times. The fuse was all black. Put it back together and the dishwasher keeps on acting the same way. What else could it be? The board?
Your dishwasher is sensing a low water temperature. If you know where your tech sheet is, pull that and follow the instructions on resetting the control. If this doesn't fix the problem you may have a problem with the heating element.
No, it's a reset sequence. This is one we found for this model: 1) Crack the door open. 2) Within 3 seconds press the following sequence - Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry 3) Close and latch the door 4) Press the cancel button (the circle with the triangle in it). Let us know if this works.
Many people have asked but I have not seen an answer. Why is it necessary to cut the wires and use the terminal block?? Why not just SLIDE the connector off the old fuse and and slide the connectors back onto the new fuse??
There was an overheating problem with the thermal fuse wiring is that why the manufacturer recommends cutting back the wiring and repairing with the new harness. Thanks!
