  • Removing the interior from my 1973 Trans Am project car! It sat for forty years and definitely had some squatters inside!

Awesome car but got a little work ahead of ya. If that was a real Brewster green car, that is THE 73 T/A to have...the most desirable color which actually raises the value a little, like the Mopar HIP colors. And a stick too. Check under the seats for the build sheet. Green over tan is a real sweet combo

Thank you and yes sir the green is really why I bought it. I found a red one in better shape for a little more money but I wanted a green one.

I own a '73 Firebird Formula 455. Not a SD. 4 spd,ps,pb,radio. That is it. It is red and has only 37,000 original miles. Not as valuable as a TA but is slightly lighter and is actually more rare. I also have a '73 TA SD 455. Overall in great shape. Only bad thing is the engine is missing. I bought it from original owner who said the engine was stolen in 1979. He parked it in a barn. I bought it in 1999. I put in a '70 Chevy LS5. Actually faster now but value much lower than if it had the original motor.

Pontiac typically mixed interior colors through those years. I redid a 70 pontiac A body interior that was coded 255 saddle interior but the carpet, kick panels, vinyl part of dash and rear package tray were dark saddle. I did the same thing with the carpet and ordered the saddle when I should of ordered the dark saddle so I sent it back. If youre looking for the correct color for interior paints I found the company Kolor Korrect actually have the original paint formulas. You can get it in a spray can(not cheap) or by the quart and use a spray gun. I was trying to get the original color look and tried other paints but none were as close as I wanted. That trans am is a desirable car and worth bringing back to life. Good luck!

Correct! From my research the 1973 year saddle carpet was different from any other year so that’s probably why the mix up. I’ve heard of Kolor Korrect that’s who legendary recommends. I’ll have to get some samples. Thanks for the info!

Hey Mike, just started watching your channel. Great find on 1973 trans am.. If you get time, bring the car to cars and coffee at Remington park. OKC, OK. Like to see it’

Bag and tag everything and take lots of pictures. I used a Painless performance reproduction wiring harness for wiring my Firebird. Quality product and descent instructions.

Mike - I use Legendary Auto Interiors for the seats and carpet and other interior needs. Just Dashes can be used for the dash repair work. Excellent work, but expensive. BTW, the radio in the car is from a later 70's firebird. Jim

I’ll look them up! I didn’t start researching the radio so that’s good information I’ll have to look for an original then. The 8-Trak is original though it was on the documents from PHS.

Trunk floor probably matches the rear floor pans. Nothing that can’t be replaced.

Indeed it does! A few pin holes not too bad for being a Midwest car.

Opg and year 1 are great sources for pontiac parts. Send your vin information into pontiac historical society, for a small fee they will decode it telling you everything about car, all available options etc it came with. Video document everything before you take it off and after. Be careful with parts, lots of pontiac parts are one year only, hard to get. Treat that engine with velvet gloves. If its a 455 sd, those parts are very very unique. Remember that engine is gm but not chevy. Do not let chevy people tune, rebuild it. Pontiacs are totally different. Even the firing order is different. Buttler performance is a great source for pontiac. They are great engines. Your in Oklahoma city, big chief, and lund from street outlaws know pontiac old and new performance. Also, instead of sandblasting i would look into acid dipping the entire car. Enjoy, theres nothing like the sound and low end torque of a pontiac engine. I love them. I have a starlight black 1971 gto with original honey comb wheels.

Just please leave it a Pontiac. You can get these old Pontiac motors to run good and be reliable. Keep the old Pontiacs alive!!!
