    Hey Roger, there is a ton of awful how to stuff on the tranam/camaro. Yours is the best one yet, you know what you're doing, you explain everything so a 5 year old could understand it. I am doing a full quarter on my Camaro, now I see the entire way to do it and do it perfect.. thank you sir

      Thanks, it's really not that hard. Just take your time and do it right and it will last another 40+ years.

    Nice work! Im also restoring a 76 trans am. I had to replaced the trunk floor in mine. By any chance, did you happen to record doing the filler pieces that go between tail panel and quarters?(Maybe in another video?) Im also having the same issue with that driver side quarter where I'll have to cut and weld to get it to go over the trunk gutter rails.

    You haven't installed those tailpanel to quarter closeouts yet did you?

      Not at the present time I'm working off camera finishing up some of the small welding jobs, and I plan on getting those parts installed this week.

    I am considering replacing the tail panel on my car and was wondering if you have any video of how the weather stripping rail attaches to the tail panel and then into the quarter panels at the top, thank you for the videos they have been helpful

    Your 74, trans am, or fixing to be a 77, is turning out awsome, you have skills Sir, Bravo..i tried catching the parts suppliers brands or company, because the 76 trans am we are starting work on also needing the rear torque boxes and floor..does the complete floor you are showing have the torque boxes built into it? Or do i order them from who?, great job video-ing, cant wait to see out come.

      The new floor comes with the torque boxes. I have a video showing us prepping and installing the new floor.

    On the new tailpanel did you reinstall the lower gutter sheetmetal that welds to the tailpanel top. I don't see replacements for that part for sale.

      Are you referring to the gutters for the trunk weather seals?

    • @scottjohnson9102
      @scottjohnson9102 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rogersrodworx yes but not the side gutters. The new rear panel looks to have a bend in it, but I don't think it has the attached (spot welded) part that goes from quarter to quarter on it does it.

    • @rogersrodworx
      @rogersrodworx  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe the piece you are referring to is made on the tail pan.

    Crazy question- Is that a tig welder that you are using?

    • @rogersrodworx
      @rogersrodworx  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No sir it's a Hobart 140 mig welder, running 75/25 mixed gas and .024 wire

      Thank you for that information. As you can probably tell, I am a beginning welder, this info will help me a lot. It seems that mig welders are probably best for learning to weld with. I have a 1977 Trans Am ( 2 owner car before myself with around 12,000 original miles) that came with the T/A 6.6 400 and a 4 speed. ( the engine had already been removed though ). It was owned by an older couple who rarely drove it, but apparently it had been bumped in the right rear corner at a red light / stop sign or something and they sold it to the guy that I bought it from who had a backyard full of Trans Am cars / GTO’s and a few other assorted vehicles and he had been parting it out. ( the car had been completely taken apart , but still had the doors and trunk lid on it. I bought it in 1989 for $600.00 and traded my 1974 Formula Firebird that still had a turbo/hydro 400 transmission in it ) it has been sitting outside every since, so needless to say it will need a frame off restoration, but no serious rust except on the right rear quarter panel which now has even more damage on it thanks to one of the idiots in my family who dragged it across the yard with a tractor or something and pushed the underside of the quarter panel upwards. ( nobody will tell me who did it). I plan to find a 1973 455 to put back in it with hopefully a 5 speed if I ever finally get an opportunity to restore it. I will have to replace that quarter panel, but the rest of the car is very clean and straight ( with just a little surface rust in places, but not real bad, the factory starlight black paint is still in great condition, but slightly faded) This is why I will need to get a mig welder. Your videos are very cool to watch, I am soaking in a ton of helpful information and am itching to get started on my Trans Am- Thanks for sharing all of this useful information.
