I love the fact that you show your "squirrely" mistakes and how you go about correcting them. This is what makes this channel so relatable. You're not afraid to admit to when things go wrong and overcome them. Great build!
If you feel like you want more shade, we added a custom sized shade cloth from Alion home (I'm sure there are other options). It made a huge difference and next step is a wet rated fan. Our area has no natural shade, so some extra relief was needed. Project looks amazing! Great job guys!
I caught Jordan's little homage to Tim Rose of Barnwood Builders with his "Last Board" comment, as Tim always calls out "Last Log" . Loved this entire build, great job guys, and congrats to the giveaway winners.
Love your videos, that being said when they showed the math I was literally saying out loud... How long till they realize they are wrong ?? Because I learned that lesson myself years ago lol 9:20 in the video BOOM! ... at least you guys caught it before the end, Great job guys keep up the good work. 👍
For one of my first ever projects I built outdoor benches using 8" structural screws. Every time I went to Home Depot I knew I was spending way too much. LOL Now I would use a forstner bit to drill into my 4x4's such that I could use a regular 3" woodscrew. I spent 5x more on those benches than I would if I built them today but the lessons learned were priceless.
Been watching videos on pergolas looking for ideas for attaching beams- did the brackets hold up? I have seen toe nailing, screws, brackets- looking for strength
For anyone interested in WATERPROOFING, their new Canopy? You can do it yourself, and save BIG $$$ !! I went over to my local Walmart, and in the Outdoors/Camping equipment section, they sell a product called 'Atsko, Silicon WaterGuard" in a spray can, for around $5.00 each. I purchased a few of the 13oz. cans, which was more than enough for my 10x10 Pergola Canopy, applied 2 coats to the top and beneath the canopy, allowing each coat to DRY THROUGHLY BEFORE APPLYING THE SECOND COAT, about (30 minutes) depending on the temperature, and it's definitely solved the rain issue!... it's also color safe on fabrics, I just recommend using a cheap, disposable mask while applying. Have Fun😊
They didn't use it but simpson tie has a whole kit with plans that uses the timber screws and washers with ties for all the joints. Looks pretty cool. I had thought about that for my yard.
I’d love to see you all do a pergola using Sky Lift roof riser hardware. My husband and I were thinking about using them for our pergola build here soon but we’re curious to see how you all fair with it!
10:06 I've always wondered if pergolas actually do any good as far as cooling / shade, since they appear (to me) to be basically useless for anything other than decoration. Good to hear it's already helping.
Using the screws At the bottom, if you put 2 on each side and the holes line up perfectly from one side and the other side of the 6x6s, wouldn’t the screws run into each other?
Before I started your video I had to say. I have had the pleasure to build one of these at a house I worked on. I am hoping yours wasn't so time consuming. Lol we had to epoxy close bunch huge cracks in some 100 year old barnwood.
Almost soiled me pantaloons when he announced a winner with the same first name as me, but I ain't mad. Just love watching you guys build stuff and the ensuing shenanigans
It doesn’t have to be as big as the main ones, a flat piece from the post to the last top lattice or previous one I believe would work, I’m no engineer nor a construction specialist but I built quite a bit in the past 30 year of being a homeowner:) a other way would be to screw from one post to the other to give you something to screw the knee brace
Also from a bad past experience, the top of the large posts, even with sealant will eventually soak water and get damaged, it’s better to cap them witch brings me back to the kind of cross-top bar from one poste to the other, not to ruin the looks, you could sandwich 3 lattices to cover the top of the post and keep your overall look and height as well, just another suggestion, I love the look of the whole project
Congrats to the winners! The only thing I disliked about this video is that it wasn’t longer, going down a spiral of the playlists anyone want anything?
So why not trim back the bushes to get them out of the way? Granted you would need to know how to trim them properly so they didn’t look butchered but I think it would help

Project looks amazing! Great job guys!
Looks great. Put a runner along the top of the 2x4 in the center to stop them from warping/twisting.
Congratulations to Sam on party patio and the winners on the pit boss barbecues!

I love pergolas. You get the shade and the breeze and still get some sun.
Great jobs, Guys! Congratulations, Sam, on the beautiful backyard kitchen!
You guys are the realest. I bet it's fun as hell working with you guys.
Jordan does need his own shirt. He is my spirit animal.
Damn it Jordan!
There’s Dammit Jordan shirts available!
Dudes, looks like it's turning into an awesome backyard! 👌hope you and the misses get to enjoy it a lot!

Are you guys planning on shade cloth or uv sheets for the top? Or just leaving it open??

F YEAH! You guys are awesome! Love watching the new videos and the builds. Can’t believe I won a prize.
It looks great guys! Congrats on another successful project without any permanent property or human damage!
Enjoyed the entire build series. Congrats to the winners !!

I really enjoyed the whole series. And I appreciate the way you handle the imperfections to make things work.
Congratulations to the winners! Another great project done!

Not everything is nefarious.
Thanks guys. Got lots of ideas to do for my new house.
Congratulations to the winners.
Congratulations to the winners! What a journey this has been, great job gentlemen!

Jordan outed himself as a fellow Barnwood Builders fan! Love it.
Mad respect - that build was fun to watch and good for my own ideas. Thanks as always.
Although I wanted to make my neighbors drool by cooking bacon outside on a sweet new PitBoss griddle, I’d have to say, congrats to the winners! 🤟
Was well worth commenting to watch this backyard transformation!
They didn't use it but simpson tie has a whole kit with plans that uses the timber screws and washers with ties for all the joints. Looks pretty cool. I had thought about that for my yard.
Congratulations to the lucky winners 👍
Killer job on the build, boys!
Congrats to the winners

What was the wood size of the main breams and the cross beams? Looks fantastic!!!
Here for it.
The Jankosaurus tee is awesome.

Hey Jordan, Heads Up!!
Dammit, Jordan, I said HEADS UP!!!
Would have loved to see Sam's wife's reaction to this job. It looks fantastic!

Funny guy 5:11 the way he hammer the nail with his head so funny 😂
Look amazing guys!!!
Question for you when you make a video about your content can you write off all your supplies ??
Hell of a transformation, great work guys! Great spot to entertain.
Using the screws At the bottom, if you put 2 on each side and the holes line up perfectly from one side and the other side of the 6x6s, wouldn’t the screws run into each other?
Yo need to put a retaining wall wear the slope is. That be so good
It looks great! Enjoy
1:39 seconds made my day.
The visor makes that moment.
Good thing you have the tools and saws!!!

5:02. The crossed-over cut on that huge miter made my stomach drop. At least it has a full guard along the front to protect you.
Great work !!!
Is all the material besides the posts pressure treated ? Or not needed since it isn’t going to be in contact with ground?
Its all pressure treated. The plates we use the posts to mount keep it off the ground
This really give me inspiration for my backyard renovation in the future
Great build! Congrats winners

Have you ever considered notching the beams in on the pergola to help prevent twisting over time?
Holy shit! Thanks guys!!
This was a great series. Congratulations to all the winners.
Next time a new shop project?
Whole new shop maybe 😉

You guys Rock!!!!!🤙🏼🏆💪🏼
Looked good guys.
great job boys, I am impressed !!!!!
Congrats Winners! 👍
Hello, did you go for 4x4 beams or 6x6? and the link to the pans is giving some 403 forbidden etc.
I heard the guy say 6 x 6 so thanks!
You guys are awesome!!
Looks super good guys, however you need to put a knee brace on the other direction as well to keep it squarely:)
There’s nothing to tie that brace to.

Am I the only one who heard “boats and hoes” when John was talking about “posts and holes”?!? 🤣
My man!
Jordan needs to get himself a place for next year's summer project.

Math is hard. Great build guys.
Very cool.... go pit boss.
Look good, use old school method clear hose with color liquid
Reminded me of when I had to run those long bolts through it’s a pain for a 1 person alone lol
Nice work. I’m a fan of Simpson as well, used the same post bases as you, but 60.00 a pop is a tad ridiculous.
John to Jordan, “ You would have to compete in women’s and you would still lose” hahaha
'Uploaded 37 seconds ago " lovely
Love the videos, when are you guys going on the road to epic for a customer
You guys are mother truckern amazing! Awesome series guys….
How did you get that "Thanks" tab for a donation?
just curious... what was the total project cost for everything? minus labor of course.
Great video guys
Great work man. I have a question how would I bid a job like that ? I have a pergola to build but I have no idea how to quote it
Awesome project!
thanks for sharing your video
I love your guy’s work!!!
Did no one notice the cross cut @5:02... Be careful!! 🥰😍👌😉
So why not trim back the bushes to get them out of the way? Granted you would need to know how to trim them properly so they didn’t look butchered but I think it would help
I'm just curious but what's with the 48 star flag at the end?
You're a brave man letting Jordan use a chainsaw that close to your fingers 🤣
I think he was testing my sanity….
A consistent stick out 😂 ...overhang
What was the length and width from post to post? What was the hight of the post?
PER-GOAL-AH is how we say it in Australia.
I just built one of these for my deck, I'm still wondering if I should have use a full top so that we could the area when it is raining
Might need a permit if you do that
A good way to get the same height on all the posts is use a water level
Great finished product!! When's the party? :)
So whats the next project!?! I can't live like this lol
Congrats to all the winners, remember, if yr unhappy with yr winnings, I'll gladly take them off yr hands!
I didn't win but we're all winners watching John and the boys.
How much did you charge for that pergola?
Well sam is an employee, so he got it for free....
