Jesse, Iv’e had just about every popular or boutique pedal made, spent thousands of dollars on pedals and very few are keepers but I finally got a Duellist and Im completely blown away! This is by far the best pedal I have ever used! I can do sweet blues on the string singer side and Hendrix on the heavy hand side and not need a fuzz on with it. This pedal is just badass! no BS, I really love it! Thanks bro! and for anybody whos wondering, Im playing through a Princeton, not a marshall or tweed bassman, just a princeton
Pretty sure Jesse is playing through a fender tube amp here.. watts aren’t really relevant unless you were using a champ ., and even a vintage all tube champ would get these tones
Best pedal I have ever heard on TH-cam. Got one. It's pretty dang cool. Very flexible yet simple at same time. You gotta be able to play this style already or you might be disappointed. It won't turn you into SRV if you can't already play that way. Obviously no pedal can.
Yes! I have one as well. Was lucky enough to snag #2. From what Jesse said King Zapata from Gary Clark Jr.'s band has #1 .... Really great pedal and tons of options as shown in the video.... Enjoy your Duellist! : )
I watched this after being well advised by Scott at Peach Guitars to buy one online, to go with a new Tele and Deluxe Reverb Tonemaster. Most of my gear was stolen and I sold most of the rest... long story. This will be replacing some gear I bought years ago and was never entirely happy with, so every cloud :). Having watched this, I now cannot wait for the DHL delivery to arrive and to plug this thing of joy in. My mojo needs it!
I found one in Oz when I first found about them and there was only one in stock. I thought about it but when I went back in a few days it was gone. Now 2 months later they are back in stock. Dilemma WTF am I gonna do ? ?
Got mine a couple days ago the newest version . Sounds incredible in my super sonic 22 and my super. Reverb. Love the glass switch with my super sonic cause that amp has no bright switch . But I get that with this pedal.
Okay, well. Hmm. I bought this in hopes to replace my trusty old 808 Tube Screamer on my board. My repertoire consists of a wide variety of music, from classic rock, country, to blues. Of course like many I love my SRV. So I have a couple of other overdrives as well as a fuzz on my board to cover the spectrum. One of which is the legendary green box that blends so well when stacking with another overdrive/fuzz, or pushing the front end of the amp for that extra bit of sauce. The Duelist did not blend as well as the Tube Screamer, but rather worked out better as a stand alone. Keep in mind that the type of amp and settings are going to have a great deal to do with how this works out. There is no one shot arrow that achieves that SRV tone that everyone salivates over. This gets you somewhat close, but it's very pricey. I chose to keep it and use mine as a stand alone od, but the good old Tube Screamer stays. You will enjoy this pedal if you're trying to get closer to the SRV/Texas tone. I find that is it's best use. For what it cost, well, I expected more honestly. Of course it's all a matter of opinion when it comes to tone.
I think the guy in this vid is wrong about it bening based on a tube screamer. I think Its concept is to resemble a Dumble Steel String Singer. You know that 100k$ amp SRV used made by Alexander Dumble. Hints the name String Singer
Such beautiful pedals, both sonically and aesthetically. Love the design. Hope to own this and/or the Blues pedal soon. Will you be at NAMM 2018/Anaheim?
HOLY.........SHIT!!! THAT PEDAL SOUNDS KILLER!! i don't need another drive pedal i am very happy with my sound BUT this pedal has that I WANT IT factor big time!
I have used this pedal now for about two years. I have found it useful, for more than one thing by adusting it various ways. There's is a Dumblesk sound coming from the TS side. Likely due to the glass setting. It's very important to note that in this video. Jesse's clean tone sounds like a blackface that's pushed to the edge of breakup. This comes to play in how this sounds in this video. A perfectly clean tone will sound a considerably different. Maybe no the best representation of the true pedal sound through a pure clean amp. The only compaint I have is that when using both sides at once it does become very hissy/noisy.
Yeah just guitar into Duellist and into 70s quad reverb (basically a Twin Reverb). The pickups are BlueBird J1. These are 60s style low output strat pickups.
You asked my question. I'm a Les Paul guy, and also NOT a blues rock guy (more of a punk and roll and Yacht Rock guy) so I'm curious about the sound through humbuckers.
Great sounding pedal but wondering about the clean tone setting on the amp - many are stating it's a Fender Twin but that clean has some break up in it which is the key to how these pedals can sound. Is it a master volume version?
Hey brother. I just ordered your Duellest pedal. I saw Joey Landreth using it and I loved the tone he was getting. Can’t wait to put it on my board. Looking forward to checking out some of your other pedals.
This pedal is amazing! I play in a cover band playing newer country with some classic rock mixed in and this pedal is freaking amazing.. It’s like everything tone wise I’ve been searching for in one pedal. I play a strat, Tele, and slide on a es-335 and this pedal nails every sound on every one of my guitars. Love it. I’m looking forward to checking out your other pedals.. Thanks.
The fact that there are no clones of this pedal is a testament you you, Jesse. That every outlet for pcbs and kits dont want to release one of these speaks volumes to the greater opinion of you as a human, or player or enterprise. Every other popular pedal is cloned, you remain unmolested.

Very SRV inspired.
It helps though because you actually hear it a lot more and that is half the battle. Gear does actually matter.
My Duellist just arrived and I plugged it in...HOLY SHIT!! It really sounds like this! You, Sir, are a genius! 🙌🏻
