    I literally pulled out my Duellist last night and plugged it in, which is something I rarely do at home, and was again blown away by how good this pedal sounds.

      I bet you sound pretty good too!

    Love it. In my experience, the closer you get to the equipment the artist originally used, the "better" it sounds, so the Super is a big part of it. Don't need a Dumble. However, the pedal adds that extra element that makes these sounds possible without hearing damage. And of course, the player nailing the SRV style makes it all come alive. Well done.

    You two guys pound for pound are the best guitarists on TH-cam and a good chunk of social media I could listen to you for hours and as I’m a new 60s les paul standard owner Jack is an absolute genius and if your store is half as good as your playing content then it’s guitar nirvana.

    • @taz4965

      Depends on style. Danish Pete Honore is as good as them, for metal, Rob Chapman is better

      @TheEchelon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't watch a lot of youtube then. Don't get me wrong, they're great, but there's plenty more that are just as good, if not, better than them (at certain things).

    • @taz4965
      @taz4965 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair point. I do watch a few channels but mainly because I want to see reviews of kit which I think Andertons are good at and are very good with customers too.
      Peach, Dagan at PMT, and several others are not quite there for me but that’s my preference.

    Just got mine yesterday and tbh I enjoy it most with the dip switches at their stock setting, A-B, and both sides on the glass setting. I do however only play in my bedroom and that’s just what sounds best in the room

    I've heard this pedal (previous version) on another channel and I could never figure out why some people were so excited about it.
    This video changed my mind completely. This is amazing!!!
    Off course, the guitars and the Super Reverb don't hurt either, but that's why I would LOVE to hear this pedal and these guitars into an AC30 and/or an AC15, because that's where I live.
    Thanks for the great video. I've been watching some of your videos lately (they just pop up all the time) and I really like them, so I better subscribe to this channel. Keep up the good work! 😎👍

    Love your channel guys! I have to say that when you first played the Strat with that Super, I thought to myself, game over. That tone needed nothing else, regardless of how good the pedal is. Great stuff!

    • @PeachGuitars
      @PeachGuitars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks, David! A Strat and a Super is about as good as it gets, right!? There aren't many pedals that could sit in the middle and improve that pairing, but somehow Jesse and his team at King Tone have done it!

  • @cowieson
    @cowieson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Ace tones. Got to love the Strat-into-Super combo!
    If I could be so bold as to offer one piece of constructive criticism, it might be that it'd be good to hear some more basic playing; maybe some slower licks, double stops, chords, differences in dynamic range (pick attack i nparticular). John's playing is great - but the high speed blues licks make for mainly listening to the playing rather than hearing the subtleties of the pedal switches and settings.

  • @CargoShorts7

    Love this! For as long as I’ve been watching your channel, I’ve always wanted to hear those old fenders get some love. Of course I understand why you’d usually go thru new and accessible amps since you are a store after all. But it was great to hear an old fender this time! Killer tones and fantastic playing! And the Duelist enhances it all that much more! Great stuff guys, cheers

    Truly one of the best Strat sounds I’ve heard here on TH-cam and overall. Great playing too. And as stated here, that amp and the player of course accounted for most of the time, but I’ve been wanting to get a hold of this pedal for long. My ToneMaster Super will need to do or now and brings other advantages.

I also have a fender super sonic 22 I set the burn channel to just break up the use the string singer side to push it and wow!, really brings that amp to life man at a reasonable volume. Got a pedal pawn fuzz and a jhs unicorn univibe and it's so much fun man .

    I think that might be the best strat sound I’ve ever heard! Now all I need is a 6 grand master built strat, a vintage Super probably worth the same or more, and somewhere to turn it up as loud as a jet engine!! Almost makes you want to give up altogether! 😭😭😭

  • @007snipershot
    @007snipershot ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My review for anyone that cares (lol): Received a new Duellist the other day and took the day to compare it to my new Protein dual overdrive. Although I liked the Duellist a lot, I found it to have too much mids and loss of base no matter which EQ settings tried; both of which you don't get with the Protein. For SRV tone, both pedals get you there though theres more gain with the Duellist if that's your thing....just not my thing usually. If I need more gain than when running both sides of the Protein, I use a modded vintage RAT! PS...tested with an original 1964 Fender Super Reverb and then a Fender 1964 Custom Deluxe (vol on 7) using a 1962 CS Fender Strat

  • @Juergen.Scheiblhofer
    @Juergen.Scheiblhofer ปีที่แล้ว

    Amazing video with outstanding players.
    You should have filmed the pedal from above, to see the settings. But that's my only "complaint" here.
    But we got the idea of the pedal.
    I'd never ever need another pedal now. I've gone through a lot of pedals 'till I found this.
    Although it's not cheap but it was worth every cent.
    It's on all the time. I use a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster as my clean boost after the pedal for the extra volume for soloing and use the volume knob alot.

    It should be noted that the Super Reverb is set to the sweet spot (which is loud as hell) - that's where 90% of the awesome tone here is coming from. The Duellist isn't going to sound like this into a clean amp.

    • @llwonder
      @llwonder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Every TH-cam demo I take it with a grain of salt, they’re probably playing at gig volume which I’ll never be able to do at home. But it’s nice to hear what it could sound like if I play a show with a band.

      100%. Overdrive pedals used to be designed for this purpose specifically - to boost an already driven sound. Amp is driving, THEN kick on your OVERdrive. Klon and TS pedals sound absolutely best in this context in my experience.

      I certainly think the Blues Power is the best Kingtone pedal for what it's worth too. I've owned (and sold) a Duellist - only sold it to reduce pedalboard space so I basically swapped it for the Soloist in that spot as I never really used side B as the Blues Power does a much better general amp-like overdrive for my money. Best one I've ever come across actually to be honest!

      @@steveburroughs7343 Yeah to be completely honest about it, I mainly still have the Soloist just to kick on every now and then to nail a particular part in an SRV track when playing along. Duellist vs. Blues Power question: Would you agree that the BP is solely focused on the SRV/Texas Blues and The Duellist is a bit more versatile to pair with other pedals, even a bit of chorus(thinking of later Gilmour lush solo work), for more variation?.....The Duellist as a "more option" tone shaper?

    The pedal comes from the factory with an alkaline battery, and it sounds very different if you use a carbon zinc battery. From my point of view, much better, a more natural and organic sound.

    If I may offer some constructive criticism - you should point out that a Super Reverb at that volume isn't going to sound like that at volume 1 at home. Next, show us your settings, don't just fiddle with the pedal and then show us how good it sounds! You are clearly both very skilled guitarists, but the demo lacked details for me. Sounds were devine though.

    Well done vid! Don't see why anyone raves about SRV or Eric Clapton. If you'd want to rave about blues players you could mention Robin Trower, Chuck Dean or Mick Taylor. Hendrix was in his own class but it's nice to hear someone doing his stuff, quite well if I may say so. My favorite guitarist is Ritchie Blackmore but he's in a class of his own as well.

      The middle part is the metal zone, and the left side is based on the DOD death metal

    I get it that the spotlight seems sweet, but when you have a player like Jack to present gear, I don't really see the value of joining the show. This video lacks focus and articulate information. I usually navigate away from Peach videos like this one. Peace to all.
