When my Dad passed last year I reconnected with Bill, my Dads old fishing buddy. Bill was an opal cutter and machine maker and sadly he too has passed recently.. I’ve since become obsessed with opal… Watching your videos, hearing your passion and seeing these beauties bought to life is wonderful. Thank you 🤗

that would have been a bargain parcel. do more video's like this , with no chat questions like on the live. just watching you work on the stones is enjoyable enough . the longer video's are great , get a beer and some snacks and sit and relax and watch you cut.

  • @greenspiritarts

For anyone who has been watching your channel for awhile, this was a mini master class in cutting. As you picked up each piece I found myself analyzing the stone thinking…I think I’d do this… then this… and many times that is what happened, but sometimes not! And that was fun too. Each piece was an adventure….and the rapid flow from one to the next was quite engaging and a nice change of format for your viewers….and still we learned so much!!!!! Thanks Justin!!!

That parcel was definitely worth the asking price. Wish I had it. Even if it did cut majority smaller gems, I would imagine the majority of people could afford smaller gems easier than the jumbos. Those super big and super gorgeous black opals are for the folks who HAVE the cash to spend on something like that. Is working folks have to scale it down sometimes lol.

Oh, how special they all are!!
Did you mention the cost of the bag of, I guess I'll call them, loose "rocks," the bag that was at the show then where the bag didn't sell?
The total value, at the end, of all the ready-to-mount, finished stones would also be great fun to know, also for us to calculate the difference ourselves!!!
(And I guess for us to also have a laugh at all the ppl who apparently just walked past this exemplary "bag of rocks," that was just out there for sale all day long at the show!! OMG!! But, ofc, we have to realize also that some of these folks might have had to curtail their shopping lately, & had to thereby pass up this juicy "bag of rocks," but only for budgetary reasons -- which we all can understand, right??).
(Yes, they're not OUR opals, Justin, but we also get INVOLVED with them, after closely following all of your processes & taking in the info you give us too. We also get really excited about the end pay-off & we get really thrilled about it for YOU too!!). 😺 😸 💗

When they are so small already I WISH you would leave them with potch and sand just shape the pointed edges off and leave them with the flaws...the potch and sand is what created them. Some should not be worn down to nothing chasing after perfection... Couple pieces were lost from chasing perfection. When they were perfect to begin with. Forgive me for being opinionated. I am enjoying watching its just a few times I am saying woo woo slow down. I just think their is a market for oddly shaped opals. It will make the pieces look natural vs man made.. You are taking too much off.... any how, thank you for sharing.

My main goal his getting my hubby back on his feet. The last nursing home he was in. End up causing him to get drunk and green on his toes, and that was his Good foot but he was able to pivot on and get into his wheelchair. Now he can't stand walk talk halfway can see. My baby has been through a lot set this past April and hasn't got everything he needed as far as physical occupational or speech therapy. Sure he's got some therapy here and there but for a whole year at 3 months is all he has gotten. For 9 months without therapy can't really set a person back. Play Justin if you don't mind could you and your family keep us in your prayers tonight and he gets better and his insurance kicks in soon so hopefully he can start getting proper care he needs instead of being in a nursing home for just room and board. I am disabled myself I took care of him as long as I could and to my back gave out. But I still love him and I got to see him everyday I can. We always keep going our prayers every day as well. Good luck on all the opels they look beautiful. Thank Ms. Dory & God bless you and your family

The first one you cut in half would make some stunning earrings!! I also thought the one that was very curved like would make a cute moon or boomerang! 😂😂 I love opals. I’ve been obsessed with them since my daughter was born because it’s her birth stone. They are just gorgeous and there is so much variety in them. I hope one day I can bless her with a beautiful genuine opal piece. All I’ve been able to afford are lab grown and it’s just not the same. I love watching your videos, they are very soothing and always has something special to see.

Man Justin. They are all so pretty and just so stunning. I wish I had or could afford one of those machines. It makes it look so easy. I've been cutting for 3 yrs in and off. I have literally almost a plate of opel. I have been practicing with other rocks or even some very beautiful yellow or orange stones.. I've made a few pieces of jewelry and I always end up giving them away as a gift to a family member or a friend. I had almost saved up for one last year, but when me and my husband moved into a split floor plan home. Than my daughter and my grandbabies moved in so it made it a lot easier on me & my hubby. Until the worst happened. He has 2 strokes 3 wks apart from each other. First stroke took a half peripheral vision while he was at work. 3 weeks later he had his second massive stroke in her bathroom at home. He got in the hospital he went to AFib and then he went down into Brady and I had to put a pacemaker in him. And now he is in a nursing home and I go see a merry day so my plans are finally getting to cut my opals on something very nice we'll have to pay put on hold for a while but it's okay justin. I'll get one one day. Than hopefully I can show you some of my cut opels and I am extremely done for you to see. They have reds some greens and blues what is about 4 inches long and forged thick is full of rectangular and it has all the colors of the rainbow in it I haven't really checked to see how much it weighs. You would honestly flip over this opel. I have a good friend that gave it and a bunch of raw opel. I have given some of them to my sister's because I love them so. I had promised them when I was young that one day we all would have an opal to own. I was very lucky to have a friend that seen how passionate I was playing with rocks and cutting them into stones. Are the kinds of her heart she wanted me to have them and told me that when I get to him one day I can show them to her to see how I did. Justin my family really loves watching your show we hope you got many more coming soon I learned a lot over the past 3 or 4 years but I still have a lot to learn thanks for listening wish me luck on a new machine one day hopefully soon on my birthday is coming up Thursday 28.
