      Hey Robert, at 1:55 you say sit, and after just a FEW SECONDS, the dog is back up again on his on and you do NOTHING to correct it. Why is that I wonder?!?! If anyone watches the entire video, this is not the only moment in which the duration is ZERO. I'm not impressed. I tell my dogs down. They will be there for 2-3 hours.... or they may be there for 5-6 hours. They may get up and stretch or spin once or twice during that duration. I can leave the room and go to the bathroom or to the kitchen to get something to drink and the will NOT leave their position. There is NO comparison in how your dog is acting in this video and what you excuse and pretend is perfect behavior when it is far from it. Again.... not at ALL impressed.

      Find a treat that will drive him crazy, use his nose to come to you. If he cant resist the treat he'll associate that treat with you. And then you can maintain that attention when connecting with command lesson.

      What methods helped u ?I’ve been struggling teaching my dog to come

    • @adzgaming5324
      @adzgaming5324 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alondraworld1385 the usual way people would. Wave the treat around to get dogs attention while marking the word "come". When she came running I rewarded and said yes,reinforced positively. If your dog is too distracted then I'd try it in a less stimulating place, maybe inside your home instead of a park. If the treat doesn't work then maybe a toy would work better. Running away from your dog will almost always result in them chasing after you aswell. Hope some of this helped but go watch one of Roberts other videos on recalls, then one if more about making the recall sharper.

    • @pothszabina
      @pothszabina ปีที่แล้ว +4

      but when you have treats you should want to not give one to him every single time - that is fading out the treats. And also you would want him to not know whether you have some or not : when you recall from afar, he won't remember you have none if he won't see your bag in front of your hip even if you have it with you so you keep the treatbag on your back area not in front or side of your leg. I hope this helps :)

    Having a little guy, who we think is a Min Pin/Chihuahua mix that wants to make himself an extension of me, has made it far easier to train a close come than any other dog I’ve had 😂 We’ve only had large breeds before. But we’ve had this guy for only 54 days now and he’s already sitting at “come” without the sit command now, and right at my feet. Also taken to loose leash walk-in after only a bit of leash training and even immediately sitting whenever we stop on walks. It’s been really impressive. But I also started training hand feeding using his puppy kibble instead of feeding him meals out of a bowl, so he’s plenty hungry whne we start training. That’s the surest way I’ve found to get a dog to become food motivated who wouldn’t ordinarily be, especially if he’s not very food/treat motivated after getting a bowl of food. Now we’re up to a 1/3 of his daily allowance at breakfast and 1/3 at dinner, and using the final 1/3 for small training spurts throughout the day. He’s been a phenomenal listener for the most part, but he is only a 6 month old puppy who we’ve not had for a whole two months yet.

    Been looking at probably 20 videos of recall training and this one is the best. We've "trained" our 1 yo boxer recall and he does great 90% of the time, but when he doesn't want to, he won't. Especially when the neighbor's dog is out or there's some kind of smell at the back of the yard. Then forget it. He recalls when he wants. We'll go to him to leash him up and he thinks it's a game and will run. We've got a half acre yard.

    Robert, my dog loves to play ball.. but sometimes he often bites or chews the tip of the rope rather than the ball.. can you give me any tips to stop that from happening?

    my dog is very food motivated indoors, but outside the best thing that will get her attention is a toy, ball, stick etc. she will eat treats outside but isnt crazy enough about them to leave whatever is interesting her. could u use this same method with a different reward?

    I kind of have this problem with my dog but I have taught her a through command where she will run in between my legs I wonder if I can use that to teach her a better come command. Also have a bunch of other issues with her

    How would you do that for a short person. I am a female, 5'3. My dog is a gsd, around 25' at shoulder. So could I adjust it to the side very close.

    • @valerielutter7921
      @valerielutter7921 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly! You are even taller than me! No way my GSD is going between my legs without me going down.
