By far my favorite song I've ever sang in choir. It's so powerful that it makes me feel in awe every time I hear it, no matter how often I hear it.

“Let music never die in me, forever let my spirit sing” - such an amazing lyric. Did this for PMEA 2016, one of my favorite pieces ever

We sing this song every year at the final concert and this is my choir directors last year after 13 years. I'm crying already. The story behind this song is heartbreaking one too.
A school had no choir program and someone came and made an amazing one out of nothing, then in a shooting the teacher was killed. This was for the teacher.
My teacher tells us the story every year....

Our choir sang this in a Cathedral in New York City. I don't think any of us realized how beautiful this song is until our voices echoed through the halls at 2:43. Almost every one of us had tears coming down our faces during that moment. Very, very powerful song with so many memories.

When we sang this, I never wanted this part to end because today with all the division, in that moment we were all hurting together without judgement but empathy and understanding and it was so beautiful. It was a time to let all frustration out and we were joyful and at peace by the end. Love this song❤️

my choir is doing this in a month and i am slightly (very) concerned about how we're gonna get it right in time LMFAOOO. i'm an alto and i'm pretty sure the altos are at least mostly good and prepared and the sopranos and tenors even are i think. but the basses get their timing so bad sometimes and sing all the wrong notes so im a lil concerned but yeah right!! if we sounded half as good id be happy HAHA

  • @thevintagefetcher
    @thevintagefetcher 11 ปีที่แล้ว +43

this is really quite well done. The best version, I think. So often, the beginning is over-directed, and the accompanist is following rather than leading. Wonderfully accompanied here, however. I think the blend is magnificent, especially in the beginning harmonies. Here, the singers and accompaniment outshine the director, which is as it should be, as it means he's already put in his work. The musicians have command of this piece, without a doubt. Thank you!

I’ve performed this song twice. Once during my sophomore year of high school with my favorite music teacher I’ve ever had. A year later, that teacher left, but I passed my audition to get into a county-wide choir concert, and we performed this song again. I remember being so excited because this was by far my favorite piece we had ever done with him. I’ll never forget this song.

As a BSU Concert Choir alum, I am SO proud of the amazing sound that I'm hearing coming from this group. My fondest memories from college were concerts and rehearsals with the Concert Choir and Chamber Choir. Treasure these times in your life. They won't last forever. So glad to have the chance to sing with such talented musicians!

This will be our first concert after a year and a half break, because of the damn pandemic and this is the perfect song as a come back anthem! You sang it perfectly, good job guys. The District 4 PMEA choir had performed this song, it's is absolutely beuatiful! I love the lyrics, "Let music never die in me, forever let my spirit sing" is one of the best lines ever. and the imagery of desperity of life without music and how music in life brings everything alive and makes it beautiful, is just so wonderful.

Seems more meaningful if it's slower you really feel the somber feelings of the mourning of her

I think it varies widely. We sang the song a bit slower than this, but picked up the tempo by the second part of the song and was very obvious where the meaning and the focus was.. The separation in the song for us was certainly longer, just shy of sounding like it was actually finished.

Glittery Potatos ty! Have you ever heard of their competitions? They are world wide ones I remember on my first trip in eighth grade this school came from Australia and I'm in America and they got the lowest scores I was so sad for them

+blunk778 we arent good enough to enter sadly. The seniors are leaving, which means we're getting different voices in and its just gonna be a mess. best we can do right now is just state competitions. but, Australians have their own ways of performing which means some American ears have no clue or something. or its that they just suck lel

Glittery Potatos it helps just to go even if you don't win because each group gets a small clinic with one of the judges who are doctors in music

nice tone but needs better diction (shadow vowels). choirs should be 60%men 40% women. a few voices stick out. 3 in men and 6 in women. no muicallity. OMEA rating 2 i would give.

TheStickGuitarMan, please just appreciate! Who knows it just might improve your stix, and before you say it. We all could do with a little improvement, if not perfection.
