      Should have just used a handheld control head.

    • @911RapidResponse
      @911RapidResponse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      There is a reason for that. Customer didnt want holes on the dash or headliner of a 80,000 truck. I can easily reach it and the siren is in the horn. If it was a main response vehicle for a department it would be mounted in the center front console area.
      Handheld controllers are for a select crowd. Almost all of our customers hate handheld controllers.

    I feel like in most cases you'd want the minimal flash/DVI activated automatically when in park...although it could be programmed, I'm surprised it doesn't come standard for more upfits.

    • @Carterthielftw_
      @Carterthielftw_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would assume that is because DVI is not as effective during daytime, I would take a mix of steady burn and slow flash over the ramp up / ramp down during daytime.

    Needs a message board and boom. Done

    • @Carterthielftw_
      @Carterthielftw_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Message boards are amazing, I am glad that im not the only one with that opinion. Issue is that Ive found Fed Sigs "MB something" that NYPD uses is a ~$1500 device, Trafcon boards, the full size hydraulic lifting ones used on road maintenace vehicles, are, I would bet, ~$10,000 a piece.

    • @RedHat2023
      @RedHat2023 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Carterthielftw_ FedSig isn't the only company that manufactures and sells message boards. Code 3's Ecco Safety Group produces and sells them for the australasian market. Code 3 used to list the M5 message display on their website, but for what ever reason they removed it. The M5 Message Display used a lot here in New Zealand on our State Highway and our Motorway patrol vehicles. A lot of the Australian fleets use them too.

    • @Carterthielftw_
      @Carterthielftw_ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RedHat2023 Ive seen some Emergency Services builds from Europe and Australia and message boards seem WAY more common there than they are in the US. literally the only department I can think of that uses message boards across their fleet is NYPD. larger message boards are used a lot in rural places where Fire Police exists. sometimes larger FDs have a dedicated air/light truck which are outfitted with boards aswell. You will also see message boards from Trafcon used on delineator or crash trucks, but because of very lax DOT regulations on safety lighting, they are only used on major road projects.

    • @RedHat2023
      @RedHat2023 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Carterthielftw_ I mean for Britian and Australia they are pretty common, especially on Roads/Highway policing vehicles. Here in NZ the only vehicles fitted with the Code 3 M5/Hazard Systems M4/Nautech DMD are the Motorway and state highway patrols. I do believe that the Code 3 MB is better than the FedSig board because of the height of the board, making text larger and easier to see when on highways and during the night, plus the M5 Message Display from C3 has 45-degree coverage, so when vehicles are in fend off position the board's text can still be seen. If you are interested I can send you photos of a TIM vehicle that utilizes the M5 Message Display.

    Great, but the marker lights are not necessary, they are primarily utilized for commercial trucks, or dually & cab & chassis trucks used for pulling farm & ranch, or commercial trailers. I realize your company generates profit margins from lighting, but amber lights in a alleged emergency vehicle are not appropriate. If it’s for a young rich kid, then I understand, however this looks like those truckers at truck stops who over do amber lights all over the truck tractor & trailer. I drove a cattle truck to pay for college & I retired with 37 years as a LEO in 09/01/2021. I worked license & weights for 12 years & I have never see marker lights used for shear vanity, especially in a pickup that is not a 3500, 4500, or 5500 used for farm & ranch, or commercial use? Marker lights are statutory via USDOT, and is used for PC on traffic stops for purposes of inspections, however I’m wondering if a LEO will stop one of these non-commercial vehicles if a L&W LEO wants to inspect? Commercial vehicles are inspected w/o probable cause due to being issued a commercial DL , however USDOT statutes mandate all vehicles with commercial markings with or without pulling a trailer. Much rhetoric regarding these vain marker lights, however any item added to a vehicle that is not statutorily required is literally advertising to L&W LEO & non traffic LEO. Thus, if these fellas want to work allegedly “undercover” these marker lights will be attracting much attention when they don’t stop at a weigh station from one state to another, or while in front of a L&W LEO. The vehicle is nice, but I don’t understand why young folks deliberately want to attract so much attention with vanity if it’s a emergency vehicle used for LEOS? If it’s for a kid , then disregard the hyperbole.
