@@SarahnTuned I was thinking, 'what an endearing lisp this cutie has'...lol....."But you wouldn't know a diamond is you held it in your hand"........ Schteely Dan is the scheeeiiiitt.
a. LOOOOO...MINUM???
@@SarahnTunedI’m curious how you got the MPG claimed in this video (23/city; 27/hwy) when GM’s sticker for this exact vehicle is only 19/20 MPG?
At $85,835, one has to wonder if the entire auto industry has gone mad and decided to give up competing via affordable vehicles and decided instead to extract all profit from the sale of one vehicle they can sell to the wealthiest, stupidest customer they can find.
That’s why I’m going to start including the inflation comparison against a comparable older version of the same vehicle.
Yeah, balked $85 grand myself! Not happening.
@@502Chevy the big one is 138 grand
a pro is about 36K. There are more affordable options but the ones which get talked about are the most expensive and top tier trims. I bought a Silverado 1500 Z71 with the 3.0 for 53K tax title and license.
@@davidporter7051i picked up the trail boss Z71 with the baby Duramax recently for a hair more. Couldn't be happier with this engine and truck altogether. The highway efficiency is gnarly fora full size
This girl is highly underrated in the vehicle review game. The humor is genuine. Well done

"You can't have your boat and eat it too." - wisdom shared generously
Na, I ate my boat after having eaten my horse that was on said boat. I hadn't eaten for 4 days, and I was just plain hungry. The French calls it viande chevalier.
@@OGtruthserum "Viande chevalier" is knight meat. I guess it counts as canned meat.
My favorite vehicle reviewer in all of TH-cam land!!!❤❤❤
Would love to have her as my daughter. Then maybe I wouldn't go thru so many cars.😂
The fact that this thing can get 28-29mpg like a Honda accord of yesteryear
yeah.. I was blown away that something shaped like a brick on 33' Mud Terrains and heavy cast alloy wheels could pull that off.
@@SarahnTuned Are those the stock wheels/tires with the speedo/odo calibrated for them?
It’s a diesel. Anything less than 30mpg is a fuel hog imo.
@@hithere5553 🙃 no one tell him what diesel gets used for mainly, it ain’t this lil duramax tho.
Your views are always so complete with a combination of the facts about the vehicle and then your opinion and take on the vehicle as an enthusiast. Very helpful. I've learned so much just watching your channel. Not to mention the fact that your humor is top notch in the oddest, best way 👍

In 2017, I bought a brand new Ford F350 dually 4x4 w/6.7 with plenty of options for $53,000. Still have her today with only 51,000 miles on it. I plan on keeping it forever. Zero issues.
In 2020 I bought a f350 fx4 6.7 power stroke regular cab dually for 56k
I currently have 65k miles on it no issues, I’m also keeping it for ever 😂
Same exact truck right now is 75k
The 3.0 Duramax is taking the 1500 world by storm! Its such a fantastic engine and it has no competition now that ford and ram half ton diesels are discontinued after proving to be boat anchors instead of engines. GM has a HUGE winner here!
We have the 3.0 diesel suburban. Perfect road trip vehicle with it's 28 gallon diesel tank and 27mpg highway. Super quiet and comfortable cruiser.
That’s the reason I bought my 2023 Denali I love this truck Fuel mileages incredible I just installed the Titan tank and get 1000 miles per tank
I’ll bet you have a 10/10 mullet as well….
Only cuz the ecodiesel was trashy italian design and refused to use cummins, and fords powerjokes didnt earn the nickname for nothin.
Too bad gm can't design timing chains and keep belts out of the oil anymore. Seen multiple failures 😅
"Pirate with a sword...?" I love your imagination and creative imagery. Great Review!!!🥰
Sarah’s road tests puts Car & Driver on the trailer!
The electrical output at 4,30 is a el,input for the blockheater, here in Sweden almost standard on dieselengines due to our cold winters. The lowest temp this winter : negativ 46.6 degre Celsius. Love the chanel.
yes it is, i own this truck 😂
Yes indeed it is the block heater - also the plug variant is a receiver and not a giver - just think about how you plug stuff into a normal wall outlet. You plug the male into the female if it was the other way people would die much easier - just fun fact 😂
Block heater, battery charger. DEFA is pretty much standard on all ICE cars here in Norway.
Hello, from northern Alberta Canada! We only hit a low of -46.4 C, -51.52 F for our friends to the south!
Love my 2019 Colorado ZR2 diesel, and I've been consistently getting 30 mpg on the highway.
Yeah, I have a 17 Canyon Diesel and it is great. The only issue is the stereo display unit. It has been a trooper that gets up to 40mpg on the highway if I go easy, 28mpg if I'm doing 80
Do you tow anything....I'm thinking a 19-21' boat? I'm also considering a jeep gladiator but these small diesels get great milage
also do you still have to use DEF?
@@stoneybowmann Quick question does the stereo just do whatever wants? Switch screens, select things on its own?
Just got a new Silverado LT Trail Boss Z71 with that engine. It's phenomenal. My combined MPG on hwy and light city driving is a hair over 28. Cruising at 55 on back country roads I'm getting 29-32
I only wish you could get that new LZ0 Duramax in a Pro or WT grade base model truck.. a single cab 4x4 diesel would be sweet!
No profit in that. ..bean counters make more profit selling the high option trucks rather than the strippers
Seeing this makes me miss the Baby Duramax in the Canyon/Colorado. What far too many armchair "experts" fail to understand about diesels in off road rigs is that it isn't about towing, it's about that down low torque making crawling along a trail or cruising on the beach feel all McConaughey.
Alright, alright, alright.
Plus that fuel economy means you can spend more time in the boonies.
Thanks for the review.
That's what I love about the new L3B. It's a gas turbo 4, sure, but it's built a lot of diesel features into the block and overall package to make it live like a diesel - that means 100K miles at WOT and full load.
This is nuts. I have a 2016 F350 Lariat diesel that I bought in 2018 with 30k miles for $40k. This is insane pricing. I'm glad that I'll never need another 1 ton truck.
Yeah. In 2017 I bought a brand new Ford F350 dually 4x4 w/6.7 with plenty of options for $53,000. Still have her today with only 51,000 miles on it. I plan on keeping it forever.
I once drove a Ram flatbed dually that had a turbocharged Caterpillar 6 cylinder under hood that had an awesome deep, powerful sound. When it was empty, the torquey acceleration was surprisingly quick. Thank you, Sarah. 👍👍👍
When I see pricing like this, I feel compelled to just keep repairing what I've got - because it just makes so much more sense. I can even modify my car while I'm repairing it to make it better than new ever was. You can replace the engine and transmission with reman stuff for less than the cost of annual lease payments.
You just simply do the best, most informative, funny vehicle reviews on the intertubes.
Even though I'll never be in the market for a truck (especially ones this big!), I always enjoy your reviews. 🙂
''Can't have your boat and eat too..'' Real smooth sailing there Sarah 😂😂
New off-road location is awesome . Sick videos! I LOVE YOU ❤
Yeah! The new rally stage is epic too. It’s coming in the next one.
I presume the old off-road test site was taken over by homeless persons.
@@SarahnTuned , new "rally stage", too? Old ex-codriver is intrigued. Flat over crest 100.
@@leonb2637 That's what it said in the video.
Just one more reason I love my BRZ.
The value proposition is UNREAL in this day and age. Toyobaru gave one back to the consumer, and I love them for it.
85k for a truck! It's a tough time for average people to buy affordable in the segment nowadays.
Average people can’t buy any new vehicle, or shouldn’t at least with interest rates as high as they are. That truck is meant for people earning well north of $100k per year. Something is going to give eventually.
@@SarahnTuned Some people are saying that trucks are starting to pile up on dealers lots and others say that trucks are also piling up on storage lots and fields, because they can’t sell them at such high prices. I don’t believe everything I see on the internet, but I’m hoping that people will stop buying overpriced vehicles and manufacturers will start selling reasonable priced vehicles again.
Just buy a Tacoma ! My 25 year old Taco will outlast ANY GM scrap !!!
@@johnberry2877 My 27 year old GMC is still running just fine and new Tacoma’s are just as expensive as the rest of the over priced trucks starting to pile up unsold on lots everywhere. Your old Taco is better than the new ones.
I got rid of my car, ebike to work. Yes, I'm on the road a little longer, but while I mostly did it to avoid the insane traffic, I also save a lot of cash. I may end up buying a beater with a heater for the darkest winter days and emergency backup, but I'm thinking a few grand, not getting a loan for a $35k car
Almost $86,000.00 U.S. , I live in Canada and we’re looking at about another 20% on top of that price. Prices are up all over the place, no matter what you buy. I like that diesel though.👍👍
Insane...and we thought in 1977. When our GMC. K30 4BY4. CRACKED 5K. SEMI LOADED WITH AC
I have a 2024 LT Trail Boss with the 3.0. My best mileage on the high way was 5.8L/100 km but the average is 6.2-6.6L/100km. It tows our 33’ trailer like a dream getting17-18L/100 km. I usually keep cruise set at 100kph. My lifetime mileage over the last 9000 km is 11L/100km…. 80% city driving and that was going through a cold winter where I live in North Western Ontario. As for def, I have put approximately 15 litres. I don’t miss my 08 Silverado with the 5.3 at all. And fyi, gmc is $10,000 more than a Chevy. Mine is loaded with leather, sunroof, bose stereo and million cameras and was under $80000
I thought there was a gem in the tooth for a second 2:23 but just a hard working content creator with no time for stop for that type of stuff. Another great review on the insane things they include on trucks these days and make them cost so much nobody would want to use them as a truck.
ive just found yr content and been binging it for a couple days now. keep it up!
Another great review, thank you! In NC I'm seeing prices for this truck start at $67,000.... that's a lot for the base ATX4. It's not apples to apples but I can find an F150 STX 4WD for $42,000 (new)
Thanks again for a insightful review... I really like the COMPARISON between older models of the same UNIT... ❤
Sarah is amazing every time I watch her. Brilliant analyst and great sense of humor! Thank you, Sarah
My week is made after another Sarah video. I came to her channel being intrigued by a young woman rebuilding cars. I stayed for the humor and technical reviews. Love her attention to detail.
Great review, Sarah. I always enjoy your "theme dressing" during your car reviews. It adds a touch of class that nobody else is doing. My favorite feature of the GMC is the tailgate. It's probably one of the best in the industry. As always, keep up the great work.
I have the 2023 Trail Boss with the baby diesel and I love it! Over 10000 miles now and the mpg is just getting better! Love your channel!
Scharah, you got it going on. Excellent review.❤ More useful information on this review than virtually all the others thus far for the AT4X diesel.
@sarahntuned I would bet that male outlet in the front bumper is to plug in an extension cord for the block heater. All 6.6 Duramax come with block heaters, I would imagine this does too.
Love watching your reviews, your style is the best ❤
Nobody bolsters like our girl!😂❤
Someone else who casually says “Schteel”! Love it! 🙌
As a new subscriber I’m really liking the way you review vehicles, great style, fresh and innovative while still covering all the essentials of the car or truck, with great humour and editing. Really enjoying it! 👌
The Duramax actually looks like a very practical truck IMO - very agile(Seemingly yeetable too), great power-to-weight ratio and braking capacity, nice comfortable ride in rough terrain, can cope pretty well with inclines, very practical interior with badass stereo - a really well rounded design. Shame the price is so high!
Loved this video, and looking forward to future ones 🔥
My favorite part's of the review is the brake test. The reaction is priceless.
By far the best car review i have ever seen. Been hoping for this cind of review of the sierra for some time as i really want to buy one for the business. Thank you so much, 10 out of 10 points.
Dang sarah be careful out there. If theres encampments some of those people are just lookin for any reason to start something. Dont put yourself in danger for us. Stay safe
GREAT VIDEO SARAH!!!! THAT GMC IS A TOTALLY AWSOME WORK TRUCK!!!! GMC DID THEIR HOMEWORK!!!! AND IT PAID OFF!!!! I LOVE EVERYTHING!!!!
Love your humor along with real knowledge. Had to subscribe!
I have a similar 2021 Chevy version of this truck with the 3.0 and 10 speed. I absolutely love it!!! I get around 25mpg around town and can get over 36 mpg highway!!! I think they should promote these trucks more for the everyday driver, it's really a hidden gem in the truck world!
Not sure the everyday driver can afford this
0:48 that’s to cool down the exhaust gasses when the diesel goes into the Regen mode to burn off the soot in the SCR.
Love this Channel!!
GREAT VIDEO SARAH!!!! THAT IS A BADASS WORK TRUCK!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
Sarah love the review, you are the most beautiful car personality.
Keep it up!!!
"Torque-y beast do your job!"
Damn I've heard that before.
Thank you for another informative and entertaining review.
Although aluminium on its own has inherently superior corrosion resistance to steel, galvanic action between aluminium and steel or galvanized parts can lead to severe corrosion 🙂 Cab off wow !! Interesting approach - Excellent Cat-food Hauler 😻TC ❤
The foam finger strikes again! Sweet truck keep up the great work Sarah stay cool
Great host, Great channel, Perfect humor to information ratio.........
Yes!!!! The seat bolster test!!!!!
Her hair was flying on that one. lol
Again, Sarah‘s outfit matching ability to the vehicle is 🔥
Im sticking with my lil 2017 colorado z71 2.8 duramax 120k on it and still running strong.
great review Sarah. cool truck !! 👍
Reason for running mild steel on the exhaust is the diesel exhaust temps tend to not exceed 400c unless your really working the system or in regen compared to gasoline tends to be above 600c pretty regularly and even to 700-800c on some occasions and even hotter in high performance engines
In NZ that would be called a maxi truck, we just don't have the wide open spaces etc. But yeah, nice truck and with a nearly 4 metric ton tow rating, well suited to a trade person as a utility tool. The new testing ground looks good, in that it looks to provide more challenges and really sort the good from the not so good. Another great review.
The “baffle” in the exhaust is a cool cuff. It pulls cool air into the exhaust stream to limit the risk of causing fires. The exhaust braking is all done through the variable vein turbo.
Wpuld love to hesr one of these with aftermarket downpipes and a nice catback!!! Definitely my new favorite dream truck.
Along with the abandoned warehouse, you will be missed, desert rally stage.
I like the seat piping -- seems fitting for a land yacht.
Rally special stage 2.0 has been born as of this week, and it’s epic! Ranger Raptor is the first to try it.
Just before Sarah launched the acceleration test i got a add for Alberta diesel day.
Haha, well, at least it was relevant.

Great review very informative 🎉
Thanks for the review!
Just make sure the DEF injection system can manage your local temperatures. My 4 cylinder Minimax failed 3 times. Going much colder than -15C, or 5F, and it was cross your fingers time. Injection line replaced twice, injection tank heater replaced once. Two friends were similar experiences.
I wouldn't exactly call them fat rolls but they are super cute! That GMC is quite impressive! An inline 6 diesel 4x4 four door for under $40 grand in today's economy?! If I were in the market for a truck today; I'd jump right on that in a heartbeat!! Thanks, Sarah! ❤
I believe the exhaust"inlets" allow cooler air to mix with the hot exhaust during the diesel regen process. The exhaust temps on some turbo diesels can start grass fires when offroad and this lowers those temperatures to a safer level.
When I worked at a GMC dealership last year I remember for almost half of the time that I worked there. There was a truck with the same engine that was a 2018 model that had the cab off of it on the lift and the whole engine taken apart it was the 3.0 liter duramax like the one in this video it sat there for 8 months while they waited for parts and pieced the thing back together. It’s absolutely crazy how hard these things can be to fix and find parts for.
Fun story. The only issue is that the 3.0 diesel LM2 was introduced in 2019 and wasn’t on the road in trucks until MY 2020.
@@DanielSon69 Then I may have gotten the year wrong but the truck was a 3.0 turbo diesel.
Good review nice truck
Probably already been said, but the indents near the exhaust tip are to allow cool ambient air to enter the exhaust pipe and cool the gasses (diesel exhaust is hotter than gas engines and can burn)!
Great videos @sara-n-tuned
Great review. Killer truck!
Hey Sarah, sorry to see the old off-road grounds lost I really like that spot especially the rally stage area. but I’m sure you picked a great replacement. Hopefully it’s not too much farther. pretty impressive mpg. Nice truck a little expensive but what are you gonna do, be safe and have a great one as always.🐧🐧🐧👍
Nice review of the Dirtymax.
Cool video Sarah...thanks!🔥🐧🌻
00:46 - I'm guessing that's a little bit of a 'Cheat mode' for emission testing, drawing in fresh air to mix with exhaust, so when a techy inserts a probe, the probe tests exhaust AND fresh air...? A little cheeky... 🤔😏
😎🇬🇧
great view of Southern Arizona. In my opinion the 3.0 Duramax is the best engine in the GM truck lineup.
That front outlet insert is to plug in the engine block heater.
Love my 3.0 Duramax. I routinely get 28mpg hand calculated. I've gotten up to 35mpg over a 100mi trip. Worst has been 24mpg during winter with lots of warmup. Never thought my High Country would seem like a bargain ($85k 😮)
Not surprising that someone in Arizona didn’t recognize a block heater plug
How timely! Just looked at one of these locally. Very cool truck. You said it well, “militaristic.”
Those louvers near the end of the exhaust are to help lower exhaust temps and cool the tips during the DPF regen cycle. They do this by drawing in higher pressure cool outside air what kind of like how the Venturian a carburetor drawers in fuel
Reading a lot of the comments about how this is not affordable. The AT4X AEV Bison Edition is the most expensive package available. You can get this engine and AT4 package with out the other luxury options for significantly less.
The venting in the exhaust pipe is to cool the exhaust and make it less likely to be a flame thrower when the particulate filter regenerates.
The exhaust inlets draw in cool air to cool the exhaust. So it doesn’t catch stuff on fire.
LOVE your taste in metal 🤘🤘🤘
the plug in front bumper is for the block heater for us up north i love you Voila from Montreal Canada😘
Great review. I wish you had mentioned it’s AdBlue or whatever GM uses. Its convenience or lack of. I’ve always been leery of the maintenance requirements of Diesels.
It’s a good thing it has the origami tailgate. Getting in the bed that high would be a pain. And I do like that with the traction control off you can burn some rubber. Most manufactures don’t want to fully defeat the robots.
I have to agree, an inline six is fantastic, and the fuel economy brilliant for it's size and weight.
Contrator of mine bought the baby duramax new and has been in the shop for over 9 months.
Have a fantastic Friday Sarah!!
Sarah just the greatest reviews and i agree great truck just way way toooo much money your the best thanks again joey.
