Thanks for the comparison tests in the real world. I have the CTX3030, I see all the rave reviews about the EQ800. But to tell you the truth, I don't really see one over the other, a few extra things that the CTX can do over the EQ. But, like you said "Price is a differance". I was wondering about battery life, if one lasts very much longer then the other. Never hear about the battery life comparisons. GL&HH
wingrovedl , funny you should bring up battery life. I just noticed on my last couple hunts that my CTX3030 lasts about twice as long. The battery is about 6 years old. While my Nox800 battery is brand new.
Most of the time I detect by sound, then depth, then I finally look at the numbers. This one was giving me a nice consistent high tone (tone #4). If it would have been silver it probably would have given me a higher tone (tone #5) more consistently. I really like the 5 tone separation that Minelab offers. In the area that I was hunting most of the wheat pennies and silver coins were at 3 to 4 bars down on the Nox. 5 to 6 inches down with the CTX 3030. If the depth would have been 2 bars (4 inches) or less, I would have guessed a memorial penny. The numbers do bounce around a lot with the nox, but it was staying anywhere from 24 to 32. But by far I do mostly rely on the sound and depth more.
Thanks for the real world test.....there both great detectors ......CTX has a tad better target ID & better depth meter .......Nox is a heck lighter & cheaper.
I still keep going back to the 3030. I like the depth reading of actual depth in inches compared to the marks on the 800. I also prefer the number read-out stability of the 3030 compared to the 800. It doesn't jump around as much. But.... for water detecting i take the 800 all day long.
At 7:04 you can see that ctx is more acurrate at Id that piece of foil and nox was giving a very good signal when it was trash. At beach ctx is a lot better and dont pick up so much trash
You did a great job comparing the 2 detectors.
Thanks! I was really hoping to find a silver while I was trying this. Maybe next time.
Sweet Hunt Brotha I like your style of detecting! Both of my favorite machines!
Thank you!
Just curious I was thinking of getting a Ctx 3030 why are the I’d numbers so different on the same target

Great catch. I really like the CTX for the discrimination features.
The ctx is just to heavy in my opinion
