great work. You'll find that sanding goes alot faster if you can upgrade to a good 6inch random orbit sander. The difference is night and day! I've had my dewalt DW443 for 20 years and only had to replace the backing pad a few times and the speed controller (once because It sat in a flood toolbox)
Just a helpful idea-You could always use the old sail and make reusable shopping bags/backpacks for getting groceries on land and use another large section for a ground cloth to use on beaches and stuff- (or even just a few small squares for individual hineys, as those would weigh less when exploring on foot) just an idea to keep using the old sail! 😉hope y’all are having fun! ❤️

Linh, you are a genius with the roller idea and Teal, sanding the fairing compound with the orbital sander is fine. I do it all the time on my car projects and finish it off by hand with flexible flat boards and flexible contoured boards. Nice job guys!

A number of folks have sent the old sails off to one of the companies that make custom bags and had them make "branded" stuff for them to sell to viewers. Might be a thought.

An awesome body guy once told me, close your eyes and feel with your fingertips...... great!!!!! But my carpel tunnel leaves my finger tips numb..... I use a paper towel between my palm and work.... I can see the light!!!!! (Feel the texture)

I think as we get older we need to be more aware of skin cancer as it comes notable. we used to have an an that went like this! slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen,slap on a hat and i can add zink the nose. Please take care in the sun even in that nice cool place you are in but the uv can still reach out to anyone. Gerard.

@@linhgobenyt all we can do is to be vigulint and on gard by it i am an outdoors person and lived for the last 30 years on boats and looking for an bigger boat to live on in comfort. my last 6 years up in hervy bay i had more then my fair share and then i had to get this one taken out. 99.98 % percent of it gone. the suren could not remove the last .2.% so time will tell for me. but i am now 57 years old so i will just wait. toora. We are planning to leave Seattle the first week of May and haul out in Port Townsend for 6 weeks. If everything runs smooth we should be cruising sometime in June...fingers crossed!

If running hydraulic steering I would be tempted to use two stacked control valves and a ram on each rudder, eliminating the cross-link and associated hull penetrations, and giving steering redundancy. That would,of course, require autopilot control at the helm or a system also employing to rams.
Hi Annette, I wish we had more time to get our hardtop completed before our sail date, but this weather really limits us in working outdoors. Not the best when you are working between rain squalls.
Jack at North Sails was awesome. He was so patient with me and Emma. Explained everything in layman terms, really made us feel at home in his loft. We didn't know if everyone wanted to hear him and Teal talk shop. We learned a lot from him. 👍🏻👍🏻
