We use cloud to cloud registration to match the different scans together. If we need to georeference the data, then we will use survey control usually on state plane coordinates.
This is very helpful. Do I understand correctly that you can export e57 from scanner to computer? Doing it from Cylclone can take 10-20 minutes. Separately, do you think it easiest to use an ipad pro? Does the processing power of the tablet affect the scanning and exporting? Thanks!
You can export individual scans from the field with Field 360, right in the field. I prefer the Ipad Pro. That being said, I have used my 10 year old ipad mini. Yes, it is slower to process, but it is reasonable. Given all considerations, get a Pro 🙂
Cool, thank you! Quick question: When I switch the battery and continue scanning, how can I make the scanner locate itself in the right spot? After a battery swap, it loses its position and places the new scan on top of the first scan on the map, forcing me to do manual alignment. Also, is it possible to rent from you few blk g2? We are looking for rental options for 1-1.5 month
First of all, yes we do scanner rentals. In answer to your field question, you can't. The process for tracking from station to station utilizes the VIS system. The VIS system requires power. When you change the battery, it loses power, therefore loses the ability to track it's location automatically. Don't fret though, all you have to do is manually align the first scan after the battery change and you will be right back on track on the same coordinate system as before the battery change. This assumes that you use Field 360 and if you don't, you absolutely should! also recommend that the first scan of the project you drag away from 0,0 which is the default. That way, the first scan after lunch or after a battery change, will restart at 0,0 and it is easier to select and align. Please call me if you have additional questions. 623-278-SCAN (7226)

Great videos, thank you! Is it normal for the G2 that it makes loud fan noises from the second you start it (even while not scanning)?
Sorry, just saw this. No, the fan should not be "loud", of course that is in the ear of the beholder though.
@@MildlyCurious Most of my clients use Sterling as their first line of support and our ratings are very high
@@sterlingsystemsllc7734 that's true. But your fan also runs from the second you turn on the BLK?
@@manufaleschini I believe that depends on the outside temperature. honestly, I have never noticed it.
How can you collect all the scanner data from your stations together without using Ground control marks to connect the position of each station?
