Seether covers Nirvana as good as Nirvana covers the Meat puppets, and Leadbelly. This was one of the best covers i've heard from one of my favorite bands. Seether, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Mad Season, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, are my biggest influences. Love this! The Seattle Grunge Movement is what influenced these guys. Thank god for that !
i like this cover, and i love this song. but i disagree. i dont think this is as good as nirvana's covers because this one isnt nearly as stylized which i love with covers. but thats just subjective
@Brandie Armitage-Francis Seen Nirvana on February 94 (the 18th). It was my very first show as a gift from my parents for my birthday. When finished, while heading to our car to get back home, I was like, excited kid (I was 14) speaking to his dad: "We have to see them again as soon as possible, agree dad? - Sure!" Not even two months later, I cried. A lot.
I heard Seether live & they did this song & I started crying. Shaun sounded so much like Kurt & I'm a huge Nirvana fan & was born after Kurt died so I never had the chance to see Nirvana perform. I cried because through Seether doing the song I felt like I was able to catch a glimpse of what it would have been like to see Nirvana perform. While Seether played I just cried &closed my eyes & ang along. If I could I'd thank Seether for performing this song it touched my heart &I'll never forget it.
He's better than Kurt - and if Nirvana didn't exist, every song Seether released would get recognition like they deserve - but too many people make this inane comparison. They do not sound that similar, it's just the beautiful grunge voice. It's like how you can describe 2 guys as 5'10 with curly brown hair, glasses, and a beard, and yet, that description matches countless people.
Shaun sounds very similar to Kurt, but not just like him. Shaun has a meaner tone to his voice than Kurt did. It does sound really good though! I think Kurt would appreciate it.
It's 2024, been listening to Seether from the begining. Saw them open for Three Doors Down back in '03. Saw them again in '10 when they did this tune. Fuck yeah, Seether rocks!
Veronica Daniela I really like their covers but with all due respect no one needs to "keep Nirvana alive". Kurt's music will live on as long as their are humans on earth that love exceptional music.
@@Gabrielangelcastro1996 I know this is your comment from 4 yrs ago but, that was not what his mean. He wasnt saying anything about Seether's music, he was saying that these covers keep Nirvana alive, but people didnt realise it and growing hates instead.
I loved Nirvana but, Honestly Kurt is not that hard, I can sing him in key with ease. Kurt was a good singer, with a basic vocal range. Chris Cornell, now That is a range I could not match ! Best Vocal range from the Grunge era !
Also keep in mind that they performed the song LIVE... this isn't digitally remastered!!! Now suppose it was!!! I was blown away by the resemblance between him and Kurt and that's definitely a high praise coming from me,,, I can't stress that enough :)
SupernovaPrincess totally agree with you, i love shaun morgan's voice but he doesn't sound like kurt cobain. i think the same for daniel johns from silverchair.
I stil remember the first time I heard seether. I thought it was some unreleased nirvana that had been discovered. This brings it full circle. I actually met the band and got front row for a show in Helsinki on my 29th birthday. Sean gave me the pic he used to play the show. I am still stoked almost a decade later.
I agree! I mean I have no problems with bands covering stuff at all but Seether takes the cake for covering them. :) Plus they sounds amazing live I've seen them live before
I beg to differ, I am 13 years old and since I was in the crib I have listened to Nirvana. I've listened to their music since I can remember and it has inspired me throughout my entire life. With all due respect, just because someone didn't live during Kurt's life doesn't mean he or she couldn't have grown up with it.
holy crap !!!! at 50 years old Nirvana was a must play list for me growing up in the Pacific NW - these guys reached in the grave and found Kurt - scary but awesome......
Look guys,no one will ever be able to replace Kurt,he paved the way for Seether, and many other great bands.Shaun said that this was a tribute to Kurt,so he was supposed to sound a lot like him.Seether and Nirvana are both amazing, stop fighting.
He sounds well like Mr Cobain!! I was 10 when the original was in the charts, i remember my uncle playing Nirvana. Can't beat 90's Grunge. Only wish i would have been able to see them live!! Cobain was a genius songwriter, and you can hear the pain in his voice. Aww :(
What if their was a Nirvana reunion with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic and Shaun Morgan?! Shaun already sounds like Kurt so it's perfect! Who agrees? Do you think Shaun should sing for a Nirvana reunion show?
Obviously u don't know much about seether. Shaun said that he was inspired by nirvana so he made this band and dedicated it to nirvana So yes he is He sounds just like kurt right?
People always seem to misunderstand a cover. Somebody isn't "copying" somebody else's work, they're just playing around, having fun, giving an old song a new feel, and giving their audience a little bit of insight into their influences. Jeez, calm down.
some part of me would like to see shaun, krist, and obviously dave do a couple of nirvana reunion, slash ‘tribute’ shows.. and maybe donate the money to a suicide charity or give it to frances b. it’s a touchy subject - and no one is gonna be perfect for the role, but he’d at least do it justice i feel. this would be great for those of us who were fans of nirvana in the 90s, but were too young to see a show. or for those who have been a fan since they remember but never got to experience a show. RIP. gone too soon...
Shaun has a raspy voice, I think it's one of the the closest ever cover from Nirvana, if Dave and Krist ever want to play some Nirvana songs together, I guess Shaun would have good vocals for it.
when these guys do nirvana covers they do them well.... he is clearly a huge fan of Kurt Cobain. like the rest of us . I appreciate that they do these songs as well as they do.
Agora of Quebec, as Seether were performing, i thought to myself how much they look and even sound a bit like Nirvana. The influence was obvious......and then they started playing Heart Shaped box. Its was a great unexpected Seether moment.
He's just paying tribute to Kurt & in my opinion he does this song beautifully just as Kurt did. I don't believe he's stepping on anyone's toes if you will. People need to stop with the rude comments. Shaun is awesome and like I said he is just paying tribute to Nirvana as Nirvana has influenced him in his musical career.
what is with this about Shawn being the reincarnation of Kurt Cobain? Cobain died in 1994 and Shawn was born in 1978. Now if Shawn was born after 1994 then you could say he is Kurt reincarnated. They just love Nirvana songs and want to do the Nirvana name good. And lots of people try to be like the people who inspired them.
i am just saying that it is impossible for Shawn Morgan to be Kurt Cobain. And why did you choose to comment on my opinion? I never once said i believed in reincarnation.
People need to STFU!!!! Be grateful that Seether did the music justice because I've heard covers that made me wanna run for cover!!! This is good... and trust me, it takes a lot for me to say that about a Nirvana cover!!! That's like walking on sacred ground... not everyone is qualified to do it... but they pulled it off... well!!!
Love this!

Bet
Add shine down to that list
No body cover Nirvana live better than seether,, Its the closest thing to actually seeing nirvana.. Ive seen both :)
TeamNumbnutts lucky fuck.....my husband could have but passed it up said he would get another chance a year later kurt was dead.......he cried.
@Brandie Armitage-Francis Seen Nirvana on February 94 (the 18th). It was my very first show as a gift from my parents for my birthday. Listen to Father John Misty
Post Malone
Omg POST MALONE did for sure!!! U gotta go check it out!!!!
It's scary how similar he sounds to Kurt. Long live the legacy of Kurt, and Shaun Morgan is already a legend in my book.
seems a combination between Kurt Cobain voice-style (not only Nirvana playing-style) and Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam... which is actually very good
Perfect voice for this.
Shaun's voice is still pretty damn unique regarding the cobain comparisons.
Agree. But sometimes I wish he wouldnt sound much like him. Makes him a target for critiques
GRUNGE NEVER FADE AWAY
Antoine Notyourbusiness tasteless bro
Bodo amat
almost 10 years later here to tell you, tf bro.@@AntoineNotyourbusiness
It's terrifying how much he sounds like Cobain.....
*sounds so much better than cobain
He sounds like if Kurt cobain didn't throw out his vocal chords
navnig His voice is a little deeper that cobains though but it sounds great.
Omg Kurt contain is back!😯
Everyone has their own style. Shaun sounded good, he sounded similar to Kurt, but not too exact. He has his own style.
I heard Seether live & they did this song & I started crying. Shaun sounded so much like Kurt & I'm a huge Nirvana fan & was born after Kurt died so I never had the chance to see Nirvana perform. I can't think anyone could rip this song as raw as Cobain did, but Morgan has cut it so fine you still feel that shiver of resonance.
I like their cover of this song. In my opinion, it's one of the harder Nirvana songs to cover and make sound it right. Good job to these dudes.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't Nirvana do a rock cover of Heart Shaped Box. I could have swore this song was by someone else.
Austin528 NO... the song is from Kurt...
Prolly so hard to cover because you gotta hit them Cobain screams. Shaun nailed the screams tho
Dude, Shaun sounds just like Kurt, it's not even funny. This band is too underrated.
Soul Harvester definitely
Underrated? My ass they are. Haha.
He even looks like him in this picture 😇
And he's a mind fuck Shaun the lead singer of seather he was born the same day Kurt Cobain died...
He's better than Kurt - and if Nirvana didn't exist, every song Seether released would get recognition like they deserve - but too many people make this inane comparison. Kurt was probably smiling down from heaven when this happened
And Jerry Cantrell from Alice in chains too😁
These are the best band that could Cover Nirvana :)
It's 2024, been listening to Seether from the begining. Saw them open for Three Doors Down back in '03. Saw them again in '10 when they did this tune. Fuck yeah, Seether rocks!
Best nirvana cover I've heard in a long time
This is amazing stop hating on him! He's trying to keep Nirvana alive ! Trying to make people remember the old good music Godamn!
+Veronica Daniela Probably I'm in love with you now. Good girl
Marry me
Veronica Daniela I really like their covers but with all due respect no one needs to "keep Nirvana alive". Kurt's music will live on as long as their are humans on earth that love exceptional music.
That's not true... Their music is way diferent from Nirvana
@@Gabrielangelcastro1996 I know this is your comment from 4 yrs ago but, that was not what his mean. He wasnt saying anything about Seether's music, he was saying that these covers keep Nirvana alive, but people didnt realise it and growing hates instead.
That's the closest ive ever heard someone match Kurt Cobain.. Holy Fuck Shaun!!!
+Michael Kelso JR (brenden nofsinger) and not only this song :P
Right??? I thought the person who uploaded this got mistaken! FUUUUCK
I loved Nirvana but, Honestly Kurt is not that hard, I can sing him in key with ease. Kurt was a good singer, with a basic vocal range.
Chris Cornell, now That is a range I could not match ! Best Vocal range from the Grunge era !
Puddle of mud singer also sounds like Kurt a bit
Also keep in mind that they performed the song LIVE... this isn't digitally remastered!!! Now suppose it was!!! I was blown away by the resemblance between him and Kurt and that's definitely a high praise coming from me,,, I can't stress that enough :)
He is no Kurt Motherfucking Donald Cobain, but he does a damn good job! so no hatin
SupernovaPrincess totally agree with you, i love shaun morgan's voice but he doesn't sound like kurt cobain. i think the same for daniel johns from silverchair.
+hobbzrules Donald is Kurt's middle name
Ya he's not Cobain, he's a much better singer than him actually.
Spot on Shaun. Kurt would likely agree. Nobody else could pull this off.
Damn! Shaun sounds just like kurt.
Only voice that that can replace cobains . Only one I've ever heard do it justice
wow. i used to listen to seether a lot, but i never knew they had a cover of this. im speechless.
The band rocks at this cover. I don't think it's a problem covering if it sounds good.
You are correct. These guys are my absolute favorite at covering Nirvana songs. Dudes voice is as close to Kurts as I can find, it fucking rocks.
I agree! I mean I have no problems with bands covering stuff at all but Seether takes the cake for covering them. :) Plus they sounds amazing live I've seen them live before
I'm 58 years old and weather is my favorite band of all time
Seether
I beg to differ, I am 13 years old and since I was in the crib I have listened to Nirvana. I've listened to their music since I can remember and it has inspired me throughout my entire life. With all due respect, just because someone didn't live during Kurt's life doesn't mean he or she couldn't have grown up with it.
A fitting tribute to the original. Thank you Seether for keeping great songs alive!
my thoughts exactly!! the resemblence is startlingly amazing
Take notes Wes Scantlin, THIS is how to cover. Nirvana
My favorite song covered by my favourite band. This is perfection

I am in tears. It's beautiful, and bittersweet.
Look guys,no one will ever be able to replace Kurt,he paved the way for Seether, and many other great bands.Shaun said that this was a tribute to Kurt,so he was supposed to sound a lot like him.Seether and Nirvana are both amazing, stop fighting.

Don't forget Pat Smear.
it actually sounds almost exactly like kurt...i heard that the lead singer of seether is a nirvana fanatic does anyone know if this is true?
Yes it is true.
whats a fanatic lol im dumb :P
?
liisa mccormack'x like a major fan
Obviously u don't know much about seether. Shaun said that he was inspired by nirvana so he made this band and dedicated it to nirvana
So yes he is
He sounds just like kurt right?
They were actually a cover band of nirvana at one point
As I say he is not Dead ;)
People always seem to misunderstand a cover. Somebody isn't "copying" somebody else's work, they're just playing around, having fun, giving an old song a new feel, and giving their audience a little bit of insight into their influences. Jeez, calm down.
This is by far the best cover of this song I have heard.
some part of me would like to see shaun, krist, and obviously dave do a couple of nirvana reunion, slash ‘tribute’ shows.. and maybe donate the money to a suicide charity or give it to frances b.
it’s a touchy subject - and no one is gonna be perfect for the role, but he’d at least do it justice i feel.
this would be great for those of us who were fans of nirvana in the 90s, but were too young to see a show. or for those who have been a fan since they remember but never got to experience a show. RIP. gone too soon...
best nırvana cover.
Shaun has a raspy voice, I think it's one of the the closest ever cover from Nirvana, if Dave and Krist ever want to play some Nirvana songs together, I guess Shaun would have good vocals for it.
Cobain was a true poet. And, Seether rocks!
Its always great when the people recognize the cover
Seether killed it! Great job! i was hesitant at first to even listen was afraid they might have butchered it, but nope they did awesome FUCK YEAH!
Shaun pulls it off pretty good, but long live Kurt!
you do know Kurt Cobain is dead right?
-N- Tertain I believe that's why the comment "long live" was stated.... Because he is dead...
There's ok covers, then there's great covers...this is the latter. Awesome
This is excellent !!!!
This is a wonderful job and I think these cats need to keep Nirvana alive and well.
when these guys do nirvana covers they do them well.... he is clearly a huge fan of Kurt Cobain. like the rest of us . I appreciate that they do these songs as well as they do.
Wow! Love it...
Kurt was Shawn's idol.. i love kurt's voice however.. he has such a voice full of angst.. that's why i want to listen it over n over again.
FUUUU THEY SOUND SO ALIKE! OH GOSH THIS IS AMAZING!
as a cover this is pretty powerful stuff, shaun does remind me of kurt cobain [voice wise]
wow.you just touched my heart.
beautiful voice
Amazing.
Not a big Nirvana fan, but I do like this song and think that Seether does a good cover.
Love it
Hippy Chic lmao
i am impressed, this is the only band that should be allowed to cover nirvana
Doesn't matter the age, everyone can listen to good music :)
CRAZY!!! I cant believe how much he sounds like Kurt!
Played this version and Nirvanas original...gives me chills dude
I seen them play this live in NC at Carolina Rebellion
good job, well done.
he's great. very good cover. :-)

I did grow up listening to nirvana. My parents love that music and so do I.
I agree with you Danni Jenson
pure amazement
i think they did a very nice cover of this song...and i'm a HUGE nirvana fan...Kurt would be proud...:3
Damn, for a second there I was like, are you sure this isn't Kurt? he really sounds like him. great cover
Great cover fair play
this and the Dead Sara cover are great in my book the bad one is Lana Del Rey and the Evanescense one was ok I guess
Cappin' Krieg Lana was very good she Performances the Song in her own way..
Little Crybaby not to burst your bubble but that wasn't really her cover :(
what is with this about Shawn being the reincarnation of Kurt Cobain? Cobain died in 1994 and Shawn was born in 1978. Now if Shawn was born after 1994 then you could say he is Kurt reincarnated. ***** reincarnation is real
Sorry btw. For all the shit I pulled.
Kurt Cobain possessed him xD
shawn is Kurt. kurt faked his death and changed his name and age and became shawn
I love this.
@dinnerman1996 I know right, its crazy how close it is...
Omg the hype when he started playing the actual thing 🤙🤙
nobody can cover Nervana , Seether is the very best thing.
A voz do Shaum e uma das melhores do rock atual!
20 yrs ago. Wow!!!!
@PirateXoXGirl Same here! Gotta get there by 3 to get these guys autograph (hopefully)
I think they do a good job, and why shouldn't they be able to cover a song when they are fans. They are doing it out of respect. Way to go, Shaun!
People need to STFU!!!! Be grateful that Seether did the music justice because I've heard covers that made me wanna run for cover!!! This is good... and trust me, it takes a lot for me to say that about a Nirvana cover!!! That's like walking on sacred ground... not everyone is qualified to do it... but they pulled it off... well!!!
Seether is the new Nirvana
This gives me Chills....
If Nirvana ever does a reunion, Shaun Morgan needs to be on lead vocals!
You can grow up listening to music from before you were born...
this is world class
good voice, good song. perfect are It's.
Vocal = Kurt 🤘
i love this cover and nirvanas version, got problem?
