  • This is Johnson Crater, near Ashfork, Arizona and Williams, Arizona. Even though it is called a crater, I would think that this is actually a sinkhole.
The lighting was pretty bright and harsh, so this isn't the best footage in the world, but I tried to make it look a bit better before I posted. I also messed with the colors a bit, so apologies if some of the shots look a bit oversaturated. I tried to keep it reasonable while also boosting some of the colors.
Music is from Streambeats by Harris Heller.

The basaltic columns around the edge are very interesting making me think it could be a collapsed volcanic vent.

There is a ton of volcanic stuff in Northern Arizona, so that is interesting to hear. There is a nice well preserved lava tube out near Flagstaff.

That was pretty cool. It could be a sinkhole. Has a pretty defined edge.

Not a sinkhole . . . You can see the angle of approach etched into the crater. The highest points along the ridge show the direction of travel. You can also notice the way the vegetation returned shows the differences in impact compaction of the surrounding soil. Careful analysis visually can reveal a lot of facts. Along with Cause & Effect Logic you can determine enough factors to basically "relive" the impact moment. Nice Vid -
