- It's been a whole lot of work to get to this point but the 1970 Pontiac LeMans is ready, the 455 Pontiac LeMans is as dialed in as it can be, and we've swapped the street car to some slicks. Let's go have some fun at the 2024 Pontiac Nationals!
Piloting the car through the weekend is Mr Bob McVay of Street Racing Channel / The Old Man's Garage fame, he's graciously signed up to be the "hot shoes" for this event. The property is absolutely packed with incredible Pontiac project, Pontiac Race Car, and Pontiac Show car machines and this is going to be an awesome and LONG weekend!

Almost forgot how many beautiful cars Pontiac made glad to see your hot rod make a couple of passes down the strip way to go bob.
The whole property was covered in awesome old Poncho machines, beautiful strong curves and lots of old iron muscle!

Honestly it did better than I thought it would running in the 12s. I learned a long long time ago that the factory intake manifold was much better than most aftermarket intakes. You should give it a try now that you have a base line with the aftermarket. Be a cool video..JS

I used to run a 455 with 3.08s in a 3680 lb 442. There are some easy low buck launching tricks that work well in a Pontiac 455 too. I had a set of JC Whitney Poly Air bags in the rear springs. Preload the right side to about 18-19 lbs and the left side to about 8-9 lbs. I ran a 26x9 MT slick so it probably will be fairly close with what you have on tire size and a 3.36 gear. On the launch (not sure what your converter is) but if you bring it up to just about 1100-1300 rpms and not load the rear suspension it will flash the converter higher and = a lower 60 foot time. Might be worth a 10th or so but every bit counts. Car is running strong for 103 mph. Brings back a lot of memories. I have a 65 and 68 GTO and hopefully will make it to the Pontiac Nats one day. Nice job!
Forgot - I also had a set of competition engineering adjustable traction bars too. My converter was a B&M Holeshot and it would flash to about 2900 in a T400. My guess on the breakup was fuel starvation or your thought on ignition. I ran a stock HEI with a curve kit and MSD 6AL with BLaster 2 coil. I ran a Holley 800 DP and blue pump with 1/2" lines and a Fram SPG1 fuel filter with regulators.

Glad to see bob is getting to races
It was nice to see Uncle Bob doing a little racing. I think the car ran pretty good you do the intake converter gear get the fuel issue addressed I bet that car will run 1150 all day long it's probably about a 3600 lb car and that's a good street car.

Austin, you're better off with iron intake vs. Performer if you can't fit and RPM. Maybe with that converter you're feeling the cam. Even a 2900 would make an improvement. Long time pontiac guy here.

It passed tech, so that's always a good start.

With not much of a converter and just 331 gears, I believe he’s stalling it to high, come off the line at 1,500 so it can flash the converter and it’ll probably run faster, if you check the video it sounded like he stalled it higher the 2nd pass and could have played a role in it slowing down
But I knew where the tree was as the way I was doing it and that what I wanted and Saturday it stabilized et so that one pass was what it was , it was 12.98 to 13 .04 maybe I think that right
