101 Dalmations is a Disney animated classic. There's been a live-action remake with Glenn Close, and now we're getting Cruella with Emma Stone. Seemed like a good time to go sin-diving in the original. So we did.

These old animated movies don't have much to them, the Dumbo video was 10 minutes long and if wasn't for sins in bulk, it would've gotten about 50 sins.
These old movies were so good that it’s only ok to sin them when a remake or spin off is on the way
The fact that there weren't 101 sins is the biggest sin of all.

When you name your kid "Cruella De Vil", of course she's going to grow up to be evil.

Especially when you consider in the book, she’s obsessed with fire and heat to the point of spraying pepper on everything she eats, shivering in cold when the fireplace goes out & postponing chasing the puppies just to watch a bakery burn. Her ancestor was apparently bad enough that he was nicknamed Devil and on top of that, when a mob showed up to Hell Hall to kill him, Satan himself was said to have been there with him which scared away the mob.
The movie Cruella fixes that, she was called Estella, someone just simply called her Cruella, like cruel, and she kept it

Well, rubbing a newborn puppy struggling to breathe is an actual tactic. Usually, the mother dog licks them to help open their airways, but if the mother's incapacitated, a human can help by vigorously rubbing them. I've watched vets do it after delivering puppies on TH-cam. Bondi Vet.
My mother did that when my Dalmatian dog gave birth. One of them was dead, and she massaged it, along with rubbing it a little and resurrected it.
It does look like he kept doing it from sun still coming thru the window to dead of night though

This movie and this art style/animation is still peak Disney imo. Even if the pacing is slower compared to newer movies, I could still watch this with my snacks and thick blanket like I'm a kid all over again.

I think this and sleeping beauty has the best animation in 2d films.
All the movies from our childhoods were better. And it’s not just nostalgia. The pacing is slower but it’s not slow, it’s natural. It doesn’t feel forced like movies these days and it’s a comfortable, pleasant experience. The writing seemed much more original and authentic too.
In order to get the full experience, you must watch it with the car DVD player, in the backseat, in broad daylight

When I was a kid, I thought "101 Dalmatians 2" was called, "102 Dalmatians."
Both movies exist, 101 Dalmatians 2 is the sequel to this movie and 102 Dalmatians is the sequel to the live-action one.

101 Dalmations 2 and 102 Dalmations are both sequels to 101 Dalmations, it's just that one is a sequel to the cartoon and the other is the sequel to the live-action remake.

As someone who owns a dalmatian let me tell you, the amount he is shedding is already bad, multiplied by 101 would be horrifying
They're also really fragile and can have a lot of health problems. At least ours was. He always had issues with his ears, had issues with his kidneys, broke his leg twice.
But then, he was a rescue from a puppy mill.

When looking for an animal, never look for a specific breed if you love them.

The road sign actually makes perfect sense. There can be 2 roads that lead to the same town. The 1 road leads you to 1 side of town and is further away, the other can lead you to the another side of town and it's closer. Both are true yet different.

One of the Dalmatian puppies that was given to the Prime Minister is now acting in the PM's place, so she summons her parents + the rest of the crew and they all settle into Downing Street to figure things out. (Oh, and it's not Cruella this time; she's gotten into plastics.)

@@zackkatian3436 You're right but to be fair, Weird Al actually does ask permission from the original artists if he can parody their songs, so I don't think he would be a good comparison. A better one would be Rucka Rucka Ali, since he makes a lot of vulgar parody songs about specific celebrities & politicians, and I highly doubt he asks permission for the songs

Loved this movie as a kid, so much so that I cried the following day when my father refused to take me again. And of course back then, you couldn’t just hire it, buy it or stream it. Never underestimate the power and wonder of cinema for kids!

The fact that this didn't have the sin counter scripted to end at 101 feels like a missed opportunity.
Yeah, considering they pad the sin count on a lot of nothing much of the time, it's not like it would've been a stretch to do it. Probably would've gotten a sin removed when TheBirdman does an Everything Wrong With Cinemasins video on this later.

As someone who has created tiny humans with my own body, I am impressed with the mention of ice chips. Hospital ice and sonic ice are the greatest things ever. Sin off!

@@nthgth something about the texture is amazing. And probably more scientifically, something with lowered iron and the need to chew on ice is probably happening.
@@sillygirlkc Scientifically (medically), it's just because we don't want to give you water to drink in case we have to perform emergency surgery. But patients will get very frustrated about how dry their mouths get, so giving them ice chips ensures that they can get a little bit of water, but are unlikely to consume enough to pose a risk during surgery.

Literally one of the principles of animation is exaggeration so you exaggerate the features of the characters. Realism and animation are sort of opposites. If you want to make a human character expressive then one way is giving them big, long hands so their movements are bigger.
@@cjtrules1 Then what they should have done is made Cruella's hand bigger than her face, then it would make sense to sin it/question it if you don't know that about animation (which CinamaSin doesn't, so they'd sin it). But since the rule of thumb for art is that the character's hand is as big as the character's face, there was no point to sin that since that was his sinning of it--not that it was bigger but as big as her face.

Still one of Disney’s best. Even 60 years later, and adjusted for inflation still one of the top grossing films.

The sin suggested that Hanna-Barbera lifted the look of Scooby Doo *from this movie.

Missed Sin: At the birthing scene, when Cruella enters the house, the window to the left of the door is open during an actual thunderstorm. With it raining that hard, shouldn't there be at least SOME water in that room?

5:19 hello vet here, sinning your sin and need to do the clarification because everyone always brings this up about this movie: just like human newborns puppies can sometimes have liquid and mucus on their airways at the moment of birth and if the amount is high they need stimulation to help them breath massaging the back and/or chest helps a lot, blowing the nose to, so roger is actually doing the right move here, now you could sin the fact Roger knows this, even though it seems very few people know this but by your own admission he IS obsessed with dogs so.....*ding*.
I am also a vet and I was about to say the same thing when I saw your post and I second everything you said. That is absolutely the right way to resuscitate a newborn puppy.
Also sinning his sin because he said they should have given that puppy a name that referenced that event, forgetting that they did in fact give that puppy a name referencing that event: "Lucky" (which is a cuter puppy name than "Lazarus" in my opinion).

where my Rottweiler had her first litter puppies years age she changed positions and lay down on one of the puppies and squished it and Weirdly it's actually due to this film that puppy lived and grew into a strong happy dog, when I moved her the baby was barely breathing, I wrapped the baby in a towel and using my thumbs I rubbed its chest for I don't know maybe three hours or so until it could breath on it's own again. and all because I remembered the scene of the still born puppy from this movie.
We kept him and called him Zuma he was an amazing dog I remember I had watched a Zombie movie and was pretending to be a Zombie shambling around and Zuma came running around a corner and I "Attacked" him, Play biting him around the neck, he actually played dead and attacked our other dog when she came around the corner, it was like he understood what I was doing. I love him and miss him dearly he passed away in 2017 at 7 years old, his mother passed three years ago at the rip old age of 13 years. As Bloodywoods song "Yaad" says "I see your Coming as a Gift, not your leaving as a curse, and even though it hurt, it makes me feel like I'm one with the Universe."

There's some irony behind adding voice over from Home Alone here. John Hughes, who wrote Home Alone, wrote the screenplay for the 1996 remake of this movie.
It's also funny because he mentions Home Alone at 11:35, if I'm not mistaken.

3:00 iirc There's a little goof in this part of the movie that I hoped would've been addressed. Perdita fails to stop Roger and Anita's fall, but doesn't fall into the water herself. Moments later, she's seen WALKING OUT of the water, implying she actually did fall in! You don't hear an extra splash or anything between those two shots, so it's tough to argue that Perdita jumped in off screen.

The live action one came out in 1996, 102 live action came out in 2000. The one that's coming out isn't about the Dalmatians it's about Cruella De Vil and her back story.

Remembered this story is set when this quote was relevant: "I Couldn't Imagine Being Too Poor for Servants, or Rich Enough for a Car" Agatha Christie, looking back on her early life, remarked that she: I couldn't imagine being too poor to afford servants, nor so rich as to be able to afford a car.

Still hard to believe that Cruella is around the same age as Anita.
That's what being crazy, chain smoking and most likely other drugs can do to one's looks.
I like to think Anita is like a younger childlike adult that has an innocence like Cinderella or Aurora, whereas Cruella is like the older, meaner adult like Maleficent or the Stepmother from Cinderella.

A real classic, there's something ineffable about the animation but it makes the whole movie feel wholesome.
Evidently Disney felt like if Cruella was really going to become one of the most iconic Villains of the bunch, she had to look the part. She’s got the fur coat, but then the DeVil ish face had to drive it home.

I can relate with having an owner letting their dog bark nonstop. We have this one neighbor behind my apartment who's dog is the same as mine but bigger and he literally barks at everything. He's nice but he just never stops.
We live next to a dog boarding place. The dog barking drove my mom crazy! They don't do much business now because the owners are a lot older. They do take in a couple every now and then still.
