Flying drones at a previous job was always so nail-biting because if we crashed, that was it. We got no aerial footage. I actually did throw a prop on my second flight but was able to solder and glue it back together. This was 10 years ago though... The point is, I like the idea of the Avata because it looks very durable. I hate being afraid to fly something for fear of it going splat. Thanks for the list. :)
Thanks for creating this much needed roadmap into FPV. As a camera drone pilot looking at the Avata 2, it’s also great to know the Googles 3 and Controller 3 can work with some long range and cinelift set-ups in case I want to upgrade!
I definetly wouldn't classify Avata as a tank, haha. Once you fly actual FPV, with carbon fiber (replaceable) frame, and you slam into a cement wall going 170KM/hr with 8-9 G's, you'll see what I mean
Goggles 3 are now compatible with O3 Air Unit. I've been controlling all my drones with the Goggles 3 EDIT: There's currently a bug with the O3 and Goggles 3 that is causing video to randomly drop out during flight. I've had it happen to me. As of Sept. 1, 2024 there hasn't been an update fixing it.
Hey, love the channel, love the content! But it's extremely misleading (and completely false) to say if your drone is sub 250g you can fly over people or roads. The only thing sub 250g changes (in the US) is that you don't have to register the drone if you're flying for recreational purposes. All drones used for part 107 or any paid work (non-recreational) NEED to be registered and no drone is exempt from the law. That means no drone can legally fly over crowds of people unless there is special permission given or it is a very specific class of drone--regardless of the weight. Just giving you a heads up to check laws before saying things like that and you should specify the country you're in because laws differ from place to place. Thanks man!
Thank you for the great content. I have a question for you, between the Moz 7 and the Chimera 7 which one is your best choice overall and performs better? I do not know which one to buy... many thanks for your help.
8:27 Red Kyte is a german brand and "zwei" is the german word for 2. The other drones from them have the same logic. So it is technically Red Kyte X2 or Red Kyte X3 and so on
Hi Danny, I have a question to ask you. :) What would you suggest between which drone to buy? I have two in mind; Avata 2 & Air3s. I would like to use the drone to film mostly wedding videography. Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks bro, been watching your films
Not Danny, but for wedding filmmaking I would recommend going with the Air 3S. Not at an FPV drone but for wedding films you’re going to find that a standard camera drone has more use than an FPV drone.
@@JamisonBorden Hi Jamison, Thanks for the feedback & info. I think so too, i just love the acro the Avata 2 has haha but for maybe what i want to use it for better i think the Air3s
@@Prophets_PerceptionYeah I shoot plenty of weddings myself and I would love to use the Avata for one someday. I think overall though, Air 3S will cover you in more situations. Once you have that, and then maybe got some extra cash to burn, go for the Avata. Both have their unique purposes but the Air will serve you in more cases.
Hi Danny! Love your videos man! I am a beginner fpv pilot. Looking to became a cinematic pilot with some freestyle elements. I have 40h in sims where I feel pretty confident doing dives and going into tight spaces but never flew a real fpv drone. So I am about to buy one. I was thinking of avata 2 ( but some say it does not have enough juice and punch and saving after dives takes longer) the other option is geprc mark5 hd dc I heard a lot of great feedback online. Eventually I will probably get both plus some others but which one to begin with?
Id suggest to build your own (at least thats how i did it). Its hard in the beginning to understand what parts you need and what they do but its so rewarding when you get it to fly. Also if you crash you know how to fix it
Using the Integra goggles with the 03 I’m only getting 2.5km range. Can you please do a video on what settings you use or changes you make to get more range?
i would get the avata 2 but #1 for the controller drone and goggles its over $1000 AND ontop of that if u want to fly manual u have to buy the separate controller because dji only gives u the motion controller which a lot of people dont like, thats my take on the dji avata, but if u leave the price out and have everything its a great drone. Edit: the reason why he says the avata 2 is $489 because thats just for the drone itself, you also cant use any other contollers/goggles with the avata 2 only dji's
It's solid. I have one and fly it pretty frequently. I usually travel with both the f5 and the chimera so will just oick which ones better. If you're only getting one I'd reccomend the BOB
@@Mcgeee thanks so much. With the ND16 on. Almost any time of the day my ISO stays between 100-400 and I can just toggle between 1/120 and 1/60 shutterspeed.
Thank you for your honesty and insight. You are my go to guy for this now. If I spend this amount of money, we need someone to trust. Thank you for you video! 👍👍
Hi. Any one of those have a "carry and release" ability? or the option to buy a modification that will deliver payloads? Don't need it to carry anything heavier than a fish hook...
The only problem that nobody mentions with the avata 2 ( dji products ) is that it has geofencing technology that restricts them from flying in no-fly zones, most people live in cities so you basically need to go on a small trip every time, which is not ideal for beginners. Do you have an honorable mention for that category ?
Nice Video for absolute Beginners, but to be honest, it feels a bit like a commercial ;-) as I am searching for the best long range drone for 2024 (already flying a gep 4 inch - tern lr40) it did not help me at all, still you got a like for the work :-)
The BEST way to start FPV is to buy a decent controller and get into a simulator. (Liftoff, DRL, Tryp, Uncrashed) If you grind out a month in the sim learning to fly manual you'll save HUNDREDS of dollars by getting your muscle memory for recovering mistakes on point. Learn what rates you like and how to apply them to real drone. First real drone should be something like a 3.5" sub-250g freestyle quad. Tiny Whoops aren't very good for beginners, they're just cheap.
If you have the money avata 2 + 5 to 10 hours in simulator is the best way to start fpv in 2024. After that get tinywhoop and 5inch with 03 air unit. If you break your air units to much get extra analog goggles and cheap analog cams.
Good morning Danny from Northern Cal! I've been flying the Avata and Mini 3 pro for about 15 months now, been getting some great videos and flights. I love using the integra goggles and motion controller 2 w head tracking with the mini. Like flying a helicopter. Flying the Avata wayyyy out there to local mountain tops . I'm not sure why but I ordered the FPV drone 2 days ago while I can still get one. I'm hoping it lets me do what I'm doing with the Avata only a little farther out. Thought about the MOZ7 but beta flight makes me nervous. All the DJI fail safes give me peace of mind...thanks for all of your great videos!!!! Mike in Gasquet
Sorry, my friend those are not the beginning drone for the beginner. first, they are not crashproof. specially the avata 2 , once you crash, done, deal .and that cost money to repair. They have no accessory for you to DIY your drone😢. that’s why you have to buy the Dji care fresh 👎 only cover you two time and you still have to pay a little small fee😢
UPDATE: DJI has released O3 compatibility with the goggles 3 and controller 3 - so now you can fly any of the drones I mentioned with them.
Watching video now that’s the first thing I looked up.
Check out Mads Tech re: DJI 03 & Goggles 3 dropout issue.
