Nice video. I'm pretty much new to hobby grade rc trucks. I have a Traxxas Raptor Slash 2wd short course truck but its just a go fast, jump stuff and, do donuts type of truck. I've never rock crawled before and didnt want to spend a lot on my first so, I ordered this one. I can already tell that some upgrades are in the future. Could you suggest a good starting point? I'm on a budget and want to do some quality upgrades a little at a time. Can you suggest a good option for a slower high torque motor? Maybe lower stronger gearing too? Diff locks? Drive shafts? I'm not sure where to start. I have never modded an rc crawler or any rc for that matter before. Thanks!

Scott Mull hi sir. I recomend 35t brushed motor. Aliexpress have cheap. Type ”35t motor” there is what i use allmost every crawler. Its black where is text ”tuned machine modified” select 35t. Then esc hobbywing quickrun 1080 crawler brushed. You find that too on aliexpress. Totall cost aprox 50e. That esc has program card that you can adjust dragbrake etc. Cheap way to crawl great. Those are what i recomend to upgrade first. With that combo your car has power to climb and battery last super long time.

@@tr4nsporter Do you have a tutorial on the upgrades you mentioned for this crawler? I know absolutely nothing about working on rc and since I've just ordered this crawler yesterday, it won't even arrive until Jan 8th or so. It would be great to see how this upgrade is done. I've never soldered and, don't even own a soldering gun so, is the upgrade you suggest plug and play? Isn't there some set up to get the gears to mesh properly? And, would this be a good time to swap the plastic gear out for a metal one? Would it also be a good idea to get a lower crawling gear while I'm at it? Sorry for all the questions. Like I said, I'm a beginner. Thanks.

Scott Mull i dont have tutorial. But dont worry its simple job. Some screws to unmount gearbox. Then switch pinion from old motor to new. Oh and you need to ask if someone will solder motor cables for you. You can ask tips from me when you get this rc.

@@tr4nsporter The truck arrived day before yesterday. It was broken right out of the box. One of the suspension links on the rear axle. The joint where it attaches to the frame was apart and stripped out. It came with the wrong charger too. I tried putting the link back together but it pulled apart within minutes of just running the truck around in the house. I contacted the seller. He has ordered the replacement link and correct charger from the factory but, it will be 10 - 15 working days before I get it. I'm fairly new to rc and don't have the tiny tools to work on them so, it's a challenge. I have owned a 2017 Traxxas Ford Raptor for 2 years and haven't had to do anything to it except charge the battery. I guess you get what you pay for. Should have known. Only paid $189.00. Lesson learned. Just hope the problem is just that one link and not a common failure for this truck.

Really nice. I can see that you use a 5000 mha battery instead of the original 2000 mha. How long is the driving time with that? And where did you buy it? I am considering to buy one of those trucks, but about 15 driving minutes with the original battery is ridiculously low.

Hi. Im using hobbywing quickrun 80a crawler esc and 55t motor. With 5000mah stick battery i can drive about 4-8hours. Depens how u drive. Battery i bought on local hobby store. Car is great. Easy to modify if needed.

Original motor and esc will drain battery fast. Not mented for crawling. More like rock racing. My set is ment to crawl. Hi torgue but slow and uses less power from battery.
