With a FAST FORMULATION you can get to market in as little as 3 months with relative confidence in long terms stability. In this video, Belinda Carli shows you how to create very stable surfactant base products - both synthetic and natural - to help you formulate fast and get to market sooner even when adding acids, extracts and beads! Thank you Belinda for such clear guidance and instruction in formulating personal care products. I am beyond elated that The Institute of Personal Care Science has introduced educational videos on this platform where there is a plethora of misinformation and methodology that so many people are sharing with others in creating these types of products. Unfortunately, much of their information is unsuccessful in making a product that actual works let alone, safe to use. The ambition to want to jump right in and begin making personal care products has now become a pursuit to obtain proper education and knowledge before I even start this endeavor. I am like so many other people becoming interested in making these products for my own family or for a small business venture. It is important to me however, to do these things properly, safely and follow guidelines that are in place as to not harm others but, help them achieve using the types of health and beauty products they are seeking. It is not as easy and simple as I originally thought. I am not discouraged though. I actually feel better after watching your videos on your channel that I can to this and be more successful in doing so! I look forward to to continuing this journey under your engaging direction!

    Great video as usual, thanks!! May I ask if adding non-ionic surfactants to the synthetic formulation will allow adding a certain amount of lipids? When Belinda says it that in the video (around 6 minutes into the video), I keep listening anionic surfactants but I learned that non-ionic are more lipid tolerable. Thanks again

      This is intended to give you a stable base to work from when you want to add actives to update your formula over time. It should be compatible with most materials to make formulating fast when creating new versions of a tried-and-true formulation base. Happy formulating! :)

    Hi Belinda, great video and I like the idea of fast formulation. I can't find a local (Spain) or UK supplier for Carbopol SF1, could I use Cabopol Ultrez? Are there any other polymers I could substitute?

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carbopol SF1 works best for surfactants; another great polymer that will never fail you, and still works with surfactants is Sepimax Zen. Other materials you have to be careful with electrolytes, and you need a 'fail safe' in these formulation chassis. Happy formulating!

      No we don't - these products do need special testing to confirm their sanitising ability so need to be prepared and tested by a properly trained Cosmetic Chemist.

    mam if i add extracts in surfactants like glycerine extracts or Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides extracts / infused oils.. how much can i add.
    Thanks mam your videos are very informative and helpful.

    • @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
      @theinstituteofpersonalcare6401  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Glycerine based materials can be added up to 5% - remember you need to take that off the water content but can add at the start in place of the water (all your formulations should total 100%) but infused oils and triglycerides should be limited to 1% in ANY surfactant formula, not just this one. I would suggest with the questions you are asking to get detailed training with us, our Certificate in Advanced Cosmetic Science would be perfect to assist your formulation queries, please contact us for details of that program: info@personalcarescience.com.au or visit personalcarescience.com.au I look forward to assisting your studies!
