I remember seeing this at an animation festival and thinking if I had been shown this as a child, instead of the introduction I was given, to organised religion, I might have been religious. such a beautiful creation myth. no regrets. every day I thank god I'm not religious. spiritual though. RIP James Earl Jones, one of the greatest actors of all time, and one of the greatest voices, from a man who stuttered terribly as a child.

Wonderful!! For me much better that “Closed Mondays“, the short that earned him an Oscar! It's a pity, though, that the music does not accompany the epic tone of the story and of the narrator.
I wonder who did the music for this. It doesn’t really sound like the kind of stuff that Billy Scream did for most Will Vinton productions. It sounds like a jazz combo.
There was a DVD released years ago called God’s Trombones, which contains three animated sermons from African-American preacher James Weldon Johnson. “Creation” is one of those shorts on the DVD. You can only buy it used these days, but you can often find used copies floating around on Amazon or eBay.
It's a good short, but isn't a bit confusing and maybe contradicting? Since they're telling a take on Genesis from the Bible, while in the other short Legacy, told the earth's creation story in the more factual and scientific way?
Throw away your stupid simplistic naive ideas of what a hallucination is. I'm talking about a robust deeply sophisticated notion of hallucination. Hallucinations that are so real you cannot distinguish them from reality. Hallucinations that are so mesmerizing that... Imagine that you started imagining that you were a God and you just sat there day after day after day imagining that you were a God and you imagined it so much that you literally became a God and you could not remember anymore that you were ever a human. That's the kind of power of imagination that I'm talking about.
Now God has brought James Earl Jones back to be His Voice again. "AMEN! Amen!"
