Thank you for posting!!! Such an incredible film. An optomistic film with a mature tone. Amazing music the moody bossa nova. uh! I could gush about this film but I wont.
An interesting piece of work. I've never seen it before. I'd know Dizzy GIllespie's voice anywhere, but Maureen Stapleton was NOT the person I thought the female voice belonged to . I was sure it was Ruby Dee or Nancy Wilson. And of course I appreciate the music. There were lots of "Short subjects" like this back in the 70s, and contemporary counterparts are hard to come by. As far as the female vocals go, there are at least two different ones: Flora Purim AND Dee Dee Bridgewater, both of whom the Diz had worked with by the time of this project. Great post!
thats marueen stapleton sheep, nice call I wouldn't have caught that. e g movie used to scar me repeatedly in about 1985 I would watch it after school matter of fact must buy it haven't seen it since 1985. since you mentioned that Ill youtube some immediately!

I grew up on Russian animation, but underground animation of John and Faith Hubley is close to my heart as well. Something good unite them.

Such a cool concept for a film. Would be cool to see this reimagined with a more modern take.
Thank you for uploading this! This was released in the year of my birth!
is this a secret gem we have here!?
Justin Vernon you crazy, crazy man...
mother earth is voiced by the same lady who was the electric grandmother
Kind of a global reset propaganda film in retrospect ("Nationalistic boxes..."). But easily ignored since all aspects of this production are stellar.
Certainly a case of "why we have borders/countries/nations?" situation it ponders.
The scat vocals sounds a lot like Flora Purim. Does anyone know who it is?
L..S.D
Sigh....a masterwork. Too bad animation is generic plastic goop now.
I loved this since seeing it many years ago on channel 4 ... BTW the vocals are by 'Dee Dee Bridgewater'
