  • Paul Pierce, Michelle Beadle, Jalen Rose and Chauncey Billups of NBA Countdown react to LeBron James calling himself the GOAT after his Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. They discuss whether LeBron or Michael Jordan is indeed the greatest, and Billups says Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers was the most "skilled" he's ever seen.

When you are getting your @$$ beat on the court and you get 81 points dropped on you by Kobe I guess you would want to "forget" about it. That's why they failed to mention Kobe because it was traumatic for them. Whenever Kobe came across a player who could stand against or match him he would always compliment that player. That is the more honorable thing to do and it seems that this panel could take note from a great player like Kobe.

@@rell_5000 -True. I love Kobe and his competitiveness, but no way is he greater than Lebron. LBJ is the greatest all around player ever 6'9 or under. His ball handling skills are what separates him from Jordan and Kobe. They were both better passers than given credit for like KD,But could they often guard the best player, then board and bring the ball up every fucking play...set up the offense for 16 years and do what LBJ has done? NO!!!!!!!!!!

    • @rell_5000
      @rell_5000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@Vern Pascal I think LeBron plays the game "the right way" more, he's a more willing passer and because of his size, he can have a more consistent impact rebounding. But skill-wise?? Nah. LeBron is like a construction worker, Kobe is like a painter. Kobe has a much better handle (for sure), better post up game (which he shouldn't) better footwork, more fluid jumper, better perimeter defender, everything. Let's remember Kobe came in trying to guard MJ, had to guard Iverson, Reggie Miller, Vince Carter, T-Mac, KD, Westbrook, Kyrie, LeBron, pretty much every great perimeter player since he came in the league. Just look at the last game they played against each other, LBJ couldn't guard him and this was walking corpse Kobe, not the mid-00s assassin. Kobe didn't have free rein of his own team from his rookie season like LBJ, and he's always had a system whereas LBJ IS the system, stat wise he'll always lose that, but skills? C'mon bruh...

Kobe just isn't the teammate that Jordan, and LBJ are
He missed more shots than anyone ever, his peak wasn't quite Jordan or Bird, and he wasn't great for as long as Lebron and Kareem
Second greatest sg ever and top 5 in raw skill, but he wasn't as athletic as Lebron, Jordan and Tmac
We complain when people catch Kobe-itis and that's what holds him out of my top 5
Was he even the best player of the 2000's? Shaq and Duncan have a good argument against him
Lebron is very clearly the best of this generation, Jordan was the best of his era no debate, same for Kareem
      Kobe just wasn't that

@@steelwall4396 what you trying to say kobe didnt take away from shaq at all and we saw him go on a historic 40 pt streak
Lbj he makes everyone better apart from the 3rd star who needs to take a back seat.
Mj didnt make his team mates better by a margin to because we know when mj left in 95, pipp lead the team in every statistical category only lebron, kg and dave cowens is in that room thats number 2.
So dont act like kobe wasnt a great team mate that mamba mentality the players loved, pau gasol become a star with kobe.
      2:
He is the most skilled all time without question every difficult shot he could hit and hes hit the most game winners in nba history. Players like chauncey, paul pierce, iverson all say he was the most skilled. Kobe was athletic as anybody you not see his dunk contests????
      3.
There is a reason the players nudge kobe in the goat debate they believe hes the goat where you argue missed shots i say because he went down shooting because he didnt have a hof roster like mj every year because remember mj shot 33% from 3pt range and kobe 33% but kobe shot 3x more the one guy knew he could shoot better
      4. Well i got news if thats your case mj and lebron were not the best in their generation no debate, mj came in the 80s and magic, bird, kareem, moses malone, kareem, isiah thomas and dr j had a huge say in that especially larry bird or kareem
Same with lebron, kobe had a huge say in the 2000s
What you dont understand is a mans career and what he had to go through, at his peak he could score 81 who else apart from wilt could do that???????

Kobe was literally at another level mentaly! After winning 3 rings with Shaq, he literally never played with another all star until Gasol!! That's 2002 - 2008 !!! 6 years Kobe was playing with nobodys (starting lineup: smush parker, kawmi brown, radmanovic, mihm etc) If you never heard of these guys, you are fine, cause these guys never played at an NBA level after leaving the Lakers! Most of them even failed to play basketball in Europe!!! So, to sum up. If in those 6 years, Kobe had the help Lebron James had from both his team and the entire eastern conference (massive trades in the middle of the year, all stars jumping in to make super teams with him, management bending the knee etc.), he would have had a much better career than both MJ and Lebron FOR SURE!!!
