That could just be Netanyahu's political posturing. Netanyahu's own negotiators told the media that while in front of the U.S. and in public, Netanyahu has appeared to be committed to a deal to end the deadly fighting in Gaza and bring the hostages home, in private, he doesn't even give them enough space to make a deal.
The U.S. proposal incorporated Netanyahu's new demands, but didn't address Hamas' concerns. Even Egypt, another country involved in the negotiation, rejected a plan the Israeli negotiators presented on Netanyahu's orders on Monday in Cairo.
Washington is still not putting enough pressure on Netanyahu. All the optimism from the U.S. side is political doublespeak only. No real progress is being made.
