    Hi. Can you update on how it looks. I wanna try to train mine into becoming a bonsai. I just don’t know how big it can get

    It's such a lovely plant. Unfortunately I have never been able to keep them alive for longtime. Don't ask me why ? I don't know...

      @chilli-dude Yeahhh unfortunately I have the opposite problem lol, my soil dries very quickly where I live and it's like, if you're not 100% on it, like checking every other day, the leaves will turn yellow and drop almost immediately. Love this plant, but not sure how well it's gonna turn out lol

    So when they plant gets Bigger you have to put it in a bigger container I'm new to this

      Yes, when a plant gets bigger it may need to be repotted into a new pot, it depends on the plant, but if you find that its growth slows or it needs watering more often then it may be a sign that it needs repotting into a larger pot.

    What do you do when there’s lots of roots sticking out of the pot?

    • @Gardeningat58N
      @Gardeningat58N  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the roots are sticking out of the pot you may need to cut these off before repotting as they might get damaged when removing the old pot. Roots coming out of the pot is a sign that it needs repotting.

    How big of a pot do you recommend for it? I got a few seed from a friend as a present

      A 9cm pot would probably work well, they don't need too much space.

      Have had good luck with 3 Plants per hanging basket starter plant seedlings ...remove hangers or not...the plat allows me to trim it fit...zone 6 here...closes leafs if sun is too hot or strong...move to less sun power...all set...

      Timing isn't too important, (If you live somewhere with dark winters avoid pruning in late autumn/early winter), just cut it back when it gets too large and it should re-sprout from lower down on the stem.

    Dose it get root shock after transplant?

    • @Gardeningat58N
      @Gardeningat58N  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Only if you disturb the roots. if you transplant it into new soil without damaging the roots or breaking up the soil its growing in it won't get any shock.

    Is the tap root a major concern when transplanting this plant?

    • @Gardeningat58N
      @Gardeningat58N  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the best chance of the plant surviving the transplant you should keep as much of the tap root as possible.

      ...this plant transplants well even if some roots break off...so long as you water it a few days...grows like a weed as they say ...

    FYI it emits a sulfuric smell if the roots are disturbed. Awful smell that filled my room.

    I just love how original Indian ayurvedic herbs are referred to as anything other than their original names and origin. Thank you colonizers. This is just perfect😑😑😑😑😑🤬

      Its often difficult for people to pronounce words of a language they don't speak. So people invent common names in their own language which is easier for them to pronounce and remember, but it means each language often has their own name for a plant. That's why all plants and animals have an official scientific name which is in a dead language, either latin or ancient greek, that way whatever language you speak the scientific name is the same. Also latin or ancient greek is used because it doesn't favour any one language as there are no native speakers for these languages. That's why I included Mimosa pudica in the title.

      @@Gardeningat58N Exactly. And for everyone's info, Mimosa pudica's origins are in South and Central America.
