    When can I put it in a bigger pot??

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @danotyone, you only want to transplant into a bigger pot if the plant needs it. That would be if the plant has surpassed y 2/3 plant on top to 1/3 pot below rule. So if you have 3/4 plant on top and 1/4 pot below. Here is a video on that: th-cam.com/video/NXy8W8rz-Ec/w-d-xo.html And I have a repotting playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLCkPgo-m1DrH40bsYtxQvvoK7sYP6uyf7.html

    How often this plant should be pruned? I see they can grow quite large, so there should be a pruning regimen for them

      Wiandry Adi Wasistio, Indoors, these plants don't grow that large, so they generally don't need to be pruned. You could prune a little if the plant becomes leggy, which they can do. Use caution when pruning, as they often have spines along the stems.

      @@HealthyHouseplants thanks! I planned to plant some of them outdoors (potted) though, and they're both seedlings and cuttings. Which one should I prune more often? I'm aiming bushy growth

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@wiandryadiwasistio2062 If you want bushy growth, you want to prune every three or four weeks. When pruning, you want to cut just above a leave so that you don't leave bare stem on top. That way the plant will be stimulated to grow more stems/leaves at the point where you pruned.

    New to plants! I just got this one, and I’m kind of curious what you mean by them lasting longer if you pinch off the flower buds?

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Ashley Oat, Just seeing this for some reason, otherwise I would have answered much sooner. Some plants are shortlived and their main purpose isn't flowering. When they do flower, that usually signals that they are about to finish their lifecycle. The flowering is their way of making seeds, so the seeds can then travel to nearby areas, and grow new plants and start the growing cycle again. So with such plant--and sensitive plants are one such plant--if you pinch off the flowers, you will stop the plant from finishing its lifecycle and doing what is known as "Going to Seed." Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any more questions!

      Riders Blitz, You can cut the plant back by up to one-third at one time. Cutting it back will make it bushier.

    Hi Julie, been awhile but thank you for this video! I grew six plants from seed and they've all become long and leggy!! I want to repot them all into one pot and I want to make them bushier so how many inches should I cut them back, any input would be appreciated! Have a blessed day Julie!

      Aida F., Sorry about the delay with this. I would cut them back by about 1/3. They do get very leggy.

    I bought one yesterday and I read they need humidity. I don't have space in my bathroom, I don't have a veranda and I was hoping to keep it in my living room. Do you know if there's a way to keep her in my living room without being in a terrarium?

    • @HealthyHouseplants
      @HealthyHouseplants  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      saphide, They need some humidity, but not a ton of extra humidity. Are you in a dry climate? I have mine growing near other plants and it is doing fine without extra humidity. Plants will humidify each other. You can also put the plant on a humidity tray. Here is my video on creating a humidity tray: th-cam.com/video/BSYOe0cLLNA/w-d-xo.html

    I read that touching the plant too much stresses it out it really is a sensitive plant.. I am looking for one... they are amazing plants.. I want to grow one.... hearing conflicting how to grow comments.. one says, let them dry out .. they don't like to be watered too often.. so .. I an so confused now.. going to grow one by seed.. wish me luck.. ty

      Char McConkey, Good luck growing your plant from seed! They don't like to be overwatered, but you don't want them to dry out completely. They can take quite a bit of touching, but as with anything, it can be overdone!

      Full sun, water when the top is dry, and enjoy! In full sun I find that their dormant nodes start growing, so you will get even more flowers and more vigor out of the plant.
