Great trade!!! Especially with 2 years of control... I wanted Crochet but definitely NOT at that price and this trade NO DOUBT was next best thing that coulda happened pitching wise for the Phils!!!
When Luzardo is good he’s literally a game changing type pitcher. This is good IMO. Why? All he needs his to be healthy come post season time and be good game by game. And that’s VERY doable.
Problem there is does he even start in the Playoffs if there staff is healthy? Even if hes having a strong season... tough question to answer. His stuff has decreased the last 2 seasons. Interesting to see what he can offer if finally healthy. a Sub 5 ERA and healthy and hes an upgrade lol.
Starlyn Caba is a Freddy Galvis at 2b. Phils didn't give up much and did a good marketing job on this guy. This is something Andrew Friedman does 4 times a year for the Dodgers. It's moves like this that get you those 3 extra wins every year to help you get the division. However, Juan Soto is 5-13 lifetime off the guy with 1 HR, 4 RBI. That said, it's a way cheaper price than 765 mil 😂.
Ranger is in his walk year. If he has a Real Ranger Season teams will be backing up the Brinks truck next winter. I wonder if Ranger told the Phils he will try FA. JL is insurance if he walks. And Painter may be ready. Now how do we dump Walker?
PHI has a lot of SS depth in minors with Miller. MIA is all about lining up guys with control windows. No way Luzardo would be resigned and if he gets hurt yet again his value disappears. Good trade for both teams.
How do you slot a pitcher at 1 or 2 when you have not seen him pitch in a major league game after his injury that kept him out of most of the season. Phills were willing to take the risk. I don’t thank other teams did a “bad job” because they factored in the risk of Luzardo not returning to form when they structure their trade offers. You are overstating.
The Phillies had 2 problems last playoffs- hitting and bullpen. Neither have been addressed. Lost 2 closer quality arms. Got one back of equal caliber. Kepler would be a great platoon player on a good team.
Jim, Mets fan here. I just don’t see the big deal for him. Maybe I’m missing something, but not giving up top 10 prospect for career 4.29 pitcher. Injury concerns to boot
Last time Marlins and Phillies striked a deal it was Sixto Sanchez for JT Realmuto. Sixto Sanchez was a top 3 prospect at the time for The Phillies. Look how that turned out. Caba won't be ready for 2+ years. Luzardo will be under control for the next two years at dirt cheap and he will be the 4th or 5th starter in the rotation. Considering what quality starting pitching is going for on the open market right now this was a good deal. Phillies also landed a catching propsect in Macintosh that could come up this year also if necessary. This also means they may be able to upgrade there offense by trading Ranger Suarez(who is managed by Scott Boras) whos going to be a top FA in next years FA class. Acquiring Luzardo gives the Phillies options to make other moves down the road if need be.
Notice how the Cubs are never in any serious talks with these guys yet they talk like they want to win. Amazing how a big market team acts like they are poor
Cabas Defensive profile is pretty insane for his age. If he had literally any type of power profile hed be a Top 10 prospect in all of MLB... with quite literally zero power your hoping you can turn him into a .270+ avg who can get on base. Risky move by Miami based on the small pitching market tradewise i would prefer a power upside higher end prospect. Not sure Phillies had to make this type of move, he makes them a beter regular season team and provides playoff upside if injuries occur.
The Orioles are freaking frustrating. New owners and they still bargain bin shop. We wnt have a farm system anymore if they keep trading everyone away for 1 year starting pitching. At some point you have to spend money on a good pitcher.
Trade him for a quality bullpen arm. For good as he can be we need another picture that throws 92 miles an hour and loses his control like we need a ……..
Ok let me understand this how is the top 4 prospect in the Phillies organization rank #55 in all baseball when the Phillies farm systemis ranked 17th behind the marlins. As a dodger fan I'm not upset but I'm more dissapointed in our front office for not getting this deal done. We are falling 😴 💤 sleep
People crying about his being injury prone, isn’t that Harper when the hell has he been healthy and news flash Philly know it all fans how much does your boy Harper cost and he is never healthy, put him at first base and he is hurt
medicals. He has a few big red flags with his health. He's been put on the IL several times with forearm strains and back issues. Forearm strains often lead to TJ.
Im saving all these negative comments. When Jesus owns the mets and dodgers and etc...i will make sure to remind you all. 😂 Jesus will have a very healthy dominant year with the Phillies.
If this guy thinks Luzardo is a better pitcher than Crochett he has no credibility. This is Luzardo's third team. He has been injured and an under preforming pitcher. I had no interest in Luzardo. Buehler is a much better pitcher. Would rather have Castillo or Burnes or others out there.
No mention of the team that was connected with him the most lately, the Cubs. Once again proving Jim is lazy and throws crap together for views. Stop watching this guy people
He’s not overrated for a 3rd stater in a rotation and he’s definitely better than Taijuan Walker he’s been a disaster for the Phillies I say excellent move.
As a red sox fan I hope this doesn't come across as cope but. I am worried about his back. I know that back injuries aren't something to laugh at. Once you hurt your back once it gets easier and easier to re-injury your back.
Dude as a Phillies fan this does nothing to me. There offense has is why they keep losing in playoffs. Since 22 it's the same 9 basically except swapped Hoskins for TT and I'd rather have Hoskins. TT is so over rated. Remember 2010 with that staff and what happened lost again in playoffs 1-0 game 5. They need a serious upgrade in CF. Don't want to see Rojas anymore
Good move for the Phillies
Thanks for the hard work and awesome content Jim 👍
Thank you JESUS! 😁🎄
BIG MOVE!! Let's go PHILLIES!!
As a Phillies fan, I’m very pleased with this move
Great trade!!! Especially with 2 years of control... I wanted Crochet but definitely NOT at that price and this trade NO DOUBT was next best thing that coulda happened pitching wise for the Phils!!!
I think a lot of teams are concerned about Luzardo’s injury history.
Can’t wait to see Jesus in a big team like Philly
Also have to understand that Caba would never play for the Phillies. He was always gonna get traded due to Turner and Stott being here for the future
Stott is mid
@ ok Stott is young and has good traits 👍
Also got Aidan Miller at the position
Doesnt help when your paying the worst defensive SS in the league until hes damn near 50.
@ lol u funny. Trea is just fine and better than your shortstop
Philly a tough team in the NL for sure
I think the Phillies did a great job getting him. LGM!
Other than 2023 this Guy never had more than 18 starts . Going on his 8th season . I dunno if iam sold on him
I agree, a gamble, but a low risk, high reward gamble.
Got that bloated ERA as well. Some of that is playing on two bad teams but it’s almost 5.00

You would think that Miami would learn not to trade with the Phils after JTR.
No SS depth in the farm. Had to solidify that layer.
i said at start of offseason philly was being sneaky quiet and bam here they go
Ranger is in his walk year. If he has a Real Ranger Season teams will be backing up the Brinks truck next winter. I wonder if Ranger told the Phils he will try FA. JL is insurance if he walks. And Painter may be ready. Now how do we dump Walker?
Phillies getting Luzardo meant Phillies knew they weren't even in the discussion for Sasaki
Just a note, Ranger Sureze is on his last year. He might be traded.
Yes! We need a right handed bat imo
I really like this under the radar move!!!
Framber Valdez is supposedly available. I'd take him over Luzardo any day.
Man Philly is scary
I'll go with the judgment of Bendix over Riley.
PHI has a lot of SS depth in minors with Miller. MIA is all about lining up guys with control windows. No way Luzardo would be resigned and if he gets hurt yet again his value disappears. Good trade for both teams.
Luzardo was 3 - 6 last season with a 5 run ERA last season. What am I missing?
I see that Jim is still refusing to acknowledge that Lucas Giolito is a member of the Boston Red Sox.
Boston needed a veteran with playoff experience to step in to the rotation. Too much in experience, they got their man in Walker Beuhler!
Exactly Jim, many teams missed on this one. Luzardo is bound to rise shortly, when managed properly.

Exactly, he is not a proven commodity.
The Phillies had 2 problems last playoffs- hitting and bullpen. Neither have been addressed. Lost 2 closer quality arms. Got one back of equal caliber. Kepler would be a great platoon player on a good team.
Those quality pitcher s you are talking about did shit for them in the playoffs 🤣
Jim, Mets fan here. I just don’t see the big deal for him. Maybe I’m missing something, but not giving up top 10 prospect for career 4.29 pitcher. Injury concerns to boot
Apparently, he is the Biggest steal of the off season.
Who knew?
Happy Holidays everyone!

The Phillies are 1-5 deep in the rotation.
12:16
In what world is Luzardo a one or a two for a playoff team?
The Phillies didn't need SP.! What kills them in the playoffs is the bullpen. SMH!
Let’s try it again shall we
We just need a good contact hitter now!!
Notice how the Cubs are never in any serious talks with these guys yet they talk like they want to win. Amazing how a big market team acts like they are poor
Jesus will shove from the 5 hole easy 12 game winner

The O's looked into Luzardo last offseason, but were scared off by his medicals.
Cubs too
Tomorrow Foul Territory is gonna be lit 🔥
Luzardo has injury issues! Glad the O's passed on him. They should pass on Flaherty!
Didn’t the Cubs drop out because of his medicals. Maybe that’s why the Phillies got him for so cheap?
Manaea > Luzardo , Mets did the right thing, kept prospects and Manaea had a better year
The Orioles are freaking frustrating. New owners and they still bargain bin shop. We wnt have a farm system anymore if they keep trading everyone away for 1 year starting pitching. At some point you have to spend money on a good pitcher.
Ranger also just hired Scott Boras as his New agent
Trade him for a quality bullpen arm. For good as he can be we need another picture that throws 92 miles an hour and loses his control like we need a ……..

Luzardo value gonna raise to 42.0
5:00 SF didn’t because we don’t want him. Burnes & Sasaki way before we go after this guy.
Great now trade Ranger. Ranger, Bohm, and a prospect for Correa and Durán? Bring in a swingman until Painter is ready
He's only 6 million. Even if he is just average, its still a good deal.
People crying about his being injury prone, isn’t that Harper when the hell has he been healthy and news flash Philly know it all fans how much does your boy Harper cost and he is never healthy, put him at first base and he is hurt
Luzardo going to Cubs fell through for some reason 🤷♂️
medicals. He has a few big red flags with his health. He's been put on the IL several times with forearm strains and back issues. Forearm strains often lead to TJ.
It's decided by MLB who goes where for ratings
Luzardo just became a CY young award winner candidate 👏
I hope but relax, he's a 4 or 5 bub
Cubs passed on Luzardo reportedly because of his medical.
Rangers were also on Jesus that’s why
Rangers 😂
Ngl I could careless about caba he had no pathway and we still have painter miller marchan Crawford Abel
Space is cool...
Caba has a pencil bat
Im saving all these negative comments. When Jesus owns the mets and dodgers and etc...i will make sure to remind you all. 😂 Jesus will have a very healthy dominant year with the Phillies.
2 years control is about 12 IL stints for Luzardo
I'd be shocked if he doesn't need TJ in the next 2 years. The history of sever forearm strains is concerning. Those often lead to TJ.
Where’s the chat?
Wasn't Luzardo having health issues?
Ranger finna traded
If this guy thinks Luzardo is a better pitcher than Crochett he has no credibility. This is Luzardo's third team. He has been injured and an under preforming pitcher. I had no interest in Luzardo. Buehler is a much better pitcher. Would rather have Castillo or Burnes or others out there.
What’s up with this long ass intro bro
as a Phillies fan i wonder if Luzardo back injury chased the other teams away have to see .
Giants don't need him
why is every making every pitcher traded good this guy been around for 6 yrs never did anything special
Is he not a bit of a question mark, back of the rotation? Mets already have that
Jim relax on Luzardo he not even all that good.
No mention of the team that was connected with him the most lately, the Cubs. Once again proving Jim is lazy and throws crap together for views. Stop watching this guy people
Luzardo had one decent year and has been terrible otherwise
2019, 2022, 2023
Your this excited about this trade??, wow... FIRE DUMB BROWSKI OW!
Luzardo is extremely overrated. Ever year is a “what if.” The reality is that the dude is average and always hurt.
He played for the fuckin Marlins dude.
@ what does that have to do with him being average and always being hurt? Lmao.
That 5.00 era is also heading to the Phillies.
Need to go get Roberts
Hell yea neega
Luzardo is overrated.
RIGHT
He’s not overrated for a 3rd stater in a rotation and he’s definitely better than Taijuan Walker he’s been a disaster for the Phillies I say excellent move.
People said the same thing about wheeler when we sighned him from the mets!!!!!we'll see!!!!
I don't think he's overrated, but he is incredibly injury prone. Dude lives on the IL.
Gonna screenshot this and comeback 162 games later
Overeated
Broken Pitcher. Good luck, Philly! The guy has back issues. Teams were scared off.
As a red sox fan I hope this doesn't come across as cope but. I am worried about his back. I know that back injuries aren't something to laugh at. Once you hurt your back once it gets easier and easier to re-injury your back.
He sucks lol
Missing out? The guy has been mid his entire career.
He had 1 really good season, but the injury concerns are very real. Scared a ton of teams off.
Who cares none of these teams really missed out dudes a 5 era pitcher who cares what he did 2-3 years ago he did nothing last year
Jesus Lazaro is not better than Grayson Rodriguez or Zach eflin not even kremer he can replace Trevor rogers but who honestly gives a fuck
