    Simone's first pass (her J eponymous skill) is amazing, but the second pass is the most valuable pass (= C, J). That's why her D score is so high.

    • @Ajay.Plants
      @Ajay.Plants 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Her second pass is C+H

      @@Ajay.Plants C+H+0.2 CV = C+J

      Her 2nd pass is an H plus .2 for the C connection. It's the same value as a "J".
      J= 1.0
      H(.8) + C (.2) connection = 1.0
      The 1st and 2nd pass is worth the same value.

      @@freddycooks The second one has both counting C and J equivalent acrobatics, so 0.3 + 0.8 + 0.2 = 1.3, whereas the first pass is 1.0. This C acrobatic is more valuable than a C dance element.

    Arm flailing is included in body shape deduction. Flipflytumble has a short video on judging American wolf turn. I think Simone only gets .1 off in body shape.

    Fairly new to your channel. Been a gymnastics fan since the days of Olga Korbut and Nadia Comanechi. I LOVE your breakdowns, and would definitely love a leap video. Thanks so much for your fun, fact-filled videos! You are deeply appreciated.

    A good and sometimes common analogy to Simone’s twisting is a baseball player fielding (catching and throwing) right handed and batting left handed

    If Simone lands the triple double without a hop or step out of bounds she could nearly score a 17 on Floor and if she doesn't have her coach on podium and doesn't go out of bounds on the Yurchenko Double Pike that vault is worth 16.4 Simone got .6 off on that vault at the US Gymnastics Championships earlier this month and her score will easily be the highest again and this years Olympic team will likely be the first American team to be a majority of color and Simone could be the first Gymnast of color to sweep all 6 medals female artistic gymnasts can win and only 2nd to achieve the feat behind Daniela Silivas or Romania in 1988 3 Gold 2 Silver 1 Bronze Floor Bars and Beam Gold Team Silver Individual All Around silver and Vault Bronze

    I'm actually ambidextrous (both-handed), which has caused me to develop some pretty weird quirks.. The thing is that for the most part (at least for me, it is), it varies from the one act/task/skill to the next whether I'm a 'rightie' or 'leftie'. As for ball-games, I'm a pretty darn confusing opponent, as I'm bouncing the ball with my left, for then to throw it with my right. As for eating, I've got to use my left for the knife and right for the fork. I would hardly be able to cut a bite of potato with my right at the dinner table, but for some ridiculous reason, that's the hand I'm using if I'm gonna have a slice of bread by hand, and so on. Based on my own weirdness due to this, it seems that, at least to some degree, the same phenomena is the case with S.B.

    Never been a gymnast, but Brie why are full in back out, and full out the same things.... The way u explained how the double in full out would be different,...for instance Khorkina did the full out visible in bars her entire career ( that's the first time I noticed they didn't look like they were really the same thing) and I guess yeah they are both full twisting double back, but it seems they are different, I dunno... maybe you can give me some insight

    • @Ajay.Plants
      @Ajay.Plants 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are still a double back with a full twist. The rule book doesn’t differentiate skills by when you do the twist

    • @agh6250
      @agh6250 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but one has to be harder, or is it just more difficult right, like I'll use Khorkina again, I see her do her dismount to me it looks harder to do the first flip then suddenly try to just start twisting to land, I think maybe u can see the ground better, but it just looks more difficult, I'll ask also maybe even with a half in half out wouldn't that be harder or ( easier) than the other variations as well...I guess my point is the twists happening either flip 1, 2 or a mixture why aren't they different skills

    • @Ajay.Plants
      @Ajay.Plants 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@agh6250 none are “harder”. Different techniques are easier for different gymnasts. Technically speaking, doing the full twist in the second flip gives you the most time to spot the ground before you land. But there’s no reason they should be recognized as different skills. A full twisting double back is a full twisting double back

    Must have endured PRESSURE to do such a hard exercise.... kinda similar to the olympic trials... wonder if top gymnists ever experience PRESSURE in competition... i hope they develop the mental toughness as children to handle PRESSURE and not flake out ...routine was stunning

    • @abbeysmith9446
      @abbeysmith9446 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't tell if you're being snide and alluding to Biles experiencing a seriously dangerous mental block during Tokyo 21 (commonly referred to as 'the twisties', where you lose ariel awareness on a skill or skills....usually, but not always, twisting ones, hence the term 'the twisties') or you're genuinely inquiring as to how much psychological PRESSURE (you like that word in all caps) a competetor is under during big international meets.
      I'm a trampolinist, rather than a gymnast but the multiple twisting multiple sommersaults are analogous, so i can offer some perspective on this. I was lucky enough never to suffer a mental block at a major championships but I did experiencing this terrifying phenomenon a number of times in training over the years....when I wasn't under any discernable psychological PRESSURE at all. My coach and I came to the conclusion that it's more likely to be the actual physiological pressure of rotating and twisting at up to 4 times the force of gravity and especially doing so in sequence that causes the problem. Over a 15 year competitive career, the only way I was ever able to resolve such a mental block was to completely deconstruct the skill or skills which were causing the problem and rebuild them from the ground up....and I can promise you that this process takes weeks or even months, rather than minutes which is all Biles had between experiencing the twisties and continuing to compete in the team competition, or even days which she had between that team vault and the all around and event finals. She only managed to compete in the beam (final) event final because she removed her full in back out dismount and substituted the easier (and non twisting) double pike back instead.
      I can't imagine how much bravery it took for her to come back into the Olympic arena and lead her team round the remainder of the team event, like it wasn't the biggest disappointment of her life not to be able to compete herself, Nor how painful it must have been to watch the all around and event finals from the sidelines, knowing that even with a fall, her average score would easily be enough to take gold in at least the all around and 2 event finals (vault and floor). She has been so consistently, the best female gymnast in the world for so long that I think people might be forgetting that she is, in fact, a human being and whether it was psychological PRESSURE, or as i suspect, simply the physiological PRESSURE related to being subject to the laws of physics which caused the problem, its pretty miraculous that she's been at the top of her game for a decade now
