I don't think people truly realize just how many awesome games there were for the PSP, owning a hacked Vita is literally the best gaming system I've ever had.
@Prakash Gurung Yeah but the Vita library and screen size makes my psp games so much easier to play. One cool addition is being able to map your D-pad to the right analog stick also configure the button layouts. You are right though the Vita is a bit more annoying to hack for sure, I also think the PSP is a more comfortable true handheld design. I think owning and collecting both systems is a must have.
@Prakash Gurung I kick myself for selling my Psp Go i might buy another one but i need a Vita 2000 more 😀....I love Sonys handhelds and am super disappointed that they didnt support their device but also for leaving the market...It just sucks.
I haven’t hacked mine yet I love it the most out of all consoles I own I trying to find a ps vita capable of modding so I can play games at full resolution and better FPS but mostly make PSP games better
Whatever you do though DO NOT play Jak & Daxter The Lost Frontier... We don't talk about Lost Frontier... Oh and the Jak Collection on PSVita as well, don't play that utter TRASH of a Port (though I hear supposedly it plays better if you turn Airplane Mode on? I'm downloading Jak 2 right now to test that out for myself)
Woah. Interesting take. Dissidia, at least the PSP entries, has some of my favourite lore. It explains so much about the final fantasy Universe and even gives the origin of Cid in a rather shocking way. It's way up there for me in my tier list for the franchise.
MGS Peace Walker was so incredible on the PSP. It was the game that made me realize I wanted a PS-3 so I could play more MGS games. I wasn't much of a gamer at all. All I had was the PSP and a couple of Medal of Honor WW-2 games I played occasionally. I gave Peace Walker a try and FORGET IT! I fell in love with gaming. Now I have a PS-3, a PS-4, an X-Box One AND a VITA! I can't wait to try Peace Walker on the VITA. That'll bring back some fond memories!
Wow that’s awesome. This was the game that made you a gamer! It plays much better on vita with the analog stick. It’s a shame that they didn’t have online play in the game. The missions and boss fights are a lot of fun when you play with others
2 old 4 gaming Thanks for that awesome response! I really appreciate you taking the time to message me. Yeah. I gotta say, Peace Walker did me in! There was NO turning back after playing that game. I was astounded at some of the beautiful landscapes and detail in Medal of Honor Heroes ONE. (I played Medal of HONOR 2 first. That was my first EVER P.S.P. game) But when I got Peace Walker (at the behest of the game store clerk who said it was AWESOME) I never dreamed a video game could be SO immersive and addictive. I couldn't BELIEVE the detail. I mean, COME ON- the STITCHING on Snakes eye patch? Oh my God. What a game! I went on to "S" Rank EVERY mission in that game. Every story mission, extra-op, Outer -op, Every mission in the game as a solo player. I read on line somewhere that NOT a lot of players "S" Ranked every single mission in the game. At the time, I had NO IDEA what on line gaming even WAS! For a while I thought I was special until I entered Destiny's Crucible, which was a wake up call. Wow! There's a lot of skilled gamers out there!!! But I'm having a blast! I'm getting a little better with time and practice and I'm gonna keep trying! I have a very competitive spirit and I LOVE competition. I was a very dedicated athlete back in my day and since there is NO WAY I can compete the way I used to in sports, video gaming has become my new hobby. Oh, and by the way, your You-Tube name is WRONG! There's NO such thing as: Too Old for Gaming!!! ha ha ha! I betcha' I'm older than you are! and we are NEVER too old for gaming!!! Keep up the good videos and keep on gaming!
Mike S i tried to get into MGS with 1 and 2 and i HATED it, it felt awful the type of gameplay it had, so stiff and weird. If i start on peace walker is it way better?

+zen underground I thought drac X was good but I got frustrated at times in some stages. Having symphony of the night on it though makes it a worthwhile buy

Prinny 1 and 2, exit 2, final fantasy tactics, gungnir, tactics ogre, persona 1 2 and 3, no heroes allowed, monster hunter, shinobido, pirates, what did I do to deserve this ... there are TONS of incredible psp/vita games and right now they are all on sale go grab them!
Good call. I grabbed Tactics Ogre yesterday. I’ve been waiting ages for P3 to go on sale that’s another game I really want. How is Persona 1? It’s on sale in Europe. I was thinking about grabbing it but the reviews weren’t great.
I am a big fan of megaten but I confess persona 1 is not great mate ;) Still 2.99 who cares right? On ps4 if u did not play them I definitely recommend Ultra Despair Girls (in terms of plot it's a punk MASTERPIECE!) and Tales of Berseria . They are absolutely unmissable and someway "hidden gems" (moderately hidden?)Trust me they are a bargain. And well also Nioh, Odin Sphere (more niche Disgaea 5 and Neptunia vii).. all great great games but u probably already have them. All must haves and with 100 bucks u get em all.
I personally love playing a final fantasy (7,8 or 9 typically) or a resident evil on my vita. With the recent scare i bought even more, but dont regret it. Now i have Dino Crisis 1&2, as well as parasite eve 1&2. Salt and santuary is a great game, Stardew Valley for some farming/relaxing. Metal Gear Solid ps1 classic is one of the best ps1 games out there. What can i say? I guess i just enjoy ps1 classics the most. Lol.
I was living in Japan, and using the PS store there I got Monster Hunter Portable for the vita. It was a way of getting over the depression of Sony losing that game to Nintendo’s 3DS (it sucked on the DS but was sooooo good in the PSP). Sadly, MonHun never appeared in the US PS store for some reason.
Totally agree with number 1. Think peace Walker is my favourite psp game maybe even of all time though maybe it ties with ff vii crisis core. Just a shame we can't get both on the vita
war of the lions. definitely one of my favorite psp games and it looks beautiful on the vitas screen. did a side by side with it running on psp and the colors looked amazing on vita
+Spiderfly they were awesome. I haven’t played them through to the end in so long. I’m thinking to have a god of war month and play the collection, COO and GOS back to back. Maybe December when there are less games out.
+Max G portable ops was such a good game. It annoyed me when people complained about it at its release. It was a proper metal gear on a handheld! I do prefer PW but P.O. was just an excellent game. I loved crisis core too. I played that game so much and I reckon it was better than FF7. I wish it was on the Vita.
That's a pretty good list! You can get a bunch of Syphon Filter games super cheap now and they look pretty tempting now.... XP I'd like to mention the port of Sid Meier's Pirates, which I love and Jax and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and Dynasty Warriors PSP game got me into those respective series. Oh and I can't forget Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and the Power Stone collection!
+Tanukitsune Syphon filter games are really good. I preferred dark mirror. Castlevania dracula x is a really good pick, especially with the unlock for SotN.
You need to make another video on this topic 2020 edition. Make it happen captain. It will get great views and everyone would appreciate it now out of all times with 2020 being a bit of a disaster.
It does go to show how far gaming really has come to today I remember getting Tekken 2 on PS1 when it came out it was totally boss then we can get games like Tekken on a handheld with amazing PS3 graphics and I'm always beside myself..i tried to get into the FF fighting games on PSP but never game them a chance it looks like they used a similar fighting system they use in Kingdom Hearts? I just noticed in this vid
@@chrisx7683 since I did not own a PSP, I can tell you that the internet says: somewhat. With Vita1000 you can benefit from an OLED screen which makes colors pop out and PSTV can obviously benefit from the quality of your tv (especially if you use sharpscale plugin). But there is no automatic resolution upgrade, in fact this is the holy grail of vita modding and gepatch is an attempt at that(still early in development, though).
Nope. There are a lot of PSP games that can be downloaded directly on to the vita. Some games aren’t available though like Crisis Core and Birth By Sleep.
i always found it annoying that capcom was smart enough to put final fight in their collection but SEGA had no Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle game and instead of the classic that was Revenge of Shinobi they gave you Shinobi 3 guess they figured people would pay individually for them...
Totally agree! No streets of rage was a HUGE miss and you’re right Revenge of Shinobi was so much better than Shinobi 3. I wish the Sega collection was coming to Vita too. I’d love to play all those games again. Have you tried the 3DS version of Streets of Rage 2? It’s a really good port and the 3D is done so well.
2 old 4 gaming yea got streets of rage 1 and 2 the 3D actually immersed you more got shinobi 3 too. Hope they do a better collection or just make them playable on the vita or even the switch.

Yeah I played Toy Story 3 PSP back in the day, sound like a bad game but it was actually solid, missing the legendary toy box mode from the consoles but never the less still a *solid* story mode.
I've tried to get into the God of War games several times over the years, and whilst I think they're nice visually, the gameplay loop doesn't do much for me. Any tips? I've only ever given them 30 minutes each, and it's always struggled to hold my attention.

Generally yes, if you can see it on the PSN store you can buy and download it directly. Some PSP games and PS1 games only show up on the web store. You can buy it there and then go to your download list on the vita and then download it.
For some reason Sony has made it so that some regions can download certain games directly on vita and some you need to do it via a PS3. It sounds like for your region you download the PSP game to your PS3 (assuming you have one) and transfer it to your vita.
+Hovalatos ! I’m pretty sure there was an Ace Combat game for PSP but I dont know if it’s on the PSN store. I don’t think there are any flight sim vita games. I’ll check though

I haven’t heard of them! It doesn’t help that I’m on the EU store and they aren’t available. These kinds of situations are annoying. All PSP games should be available on all stores!
Boy and Girl is one game. It's Harvest Moon Back to Nature (PS1) but with a few extras like choosing gender. I had to settle for Back to Nature instead. It's pretty much the same game but yeah it sucks some games are missing like I couldn't download Dino Crisis 2 or Tekken 2 because they're only on US psn store :(
For some games yes, for some you’ll need to download them onto a PS3 and then transfer them to your vita. There’s no straight rule for it but if you go to PSN and you find a PSP game that doesn’t say playable on Vita then you’ll likely need to transfer via PS3. BUT some PSP games can’t be played on vita at all. It’s best to check online if it’s compatible... Sony really made this process unnecessarily messy!
that's why we need more third person shooting games for the PlayStation Vita good story good dialogue. Sony should do a remaster for the Vita did Jak and Daxter God of War Ratchet & Clank Sly Cooper. Remasters 3rd birthday and other games for the PlayStation Vita that sell like hotcakEs you know Sony talk to them about this.?
2 old 4 gaming I wish I had even an ounce of patience for PC to be able to hack my Vita but we have never had a good past 😂 I even managed to mess up copying an audiobook to CD. I’ve got the Kingdom Hearts Collection on PS4. Just FF I’m missing out on :(
Kingdom Hearts would be perfect on the Switch ngl I wonder why they haven't ported them yet. They could have basically ported all of them to the vita as well minus 2.8 since its a ps4 game.

One of my all time favourites to play on the Vita which is a PS1 port is 'Skullmonkeys'......brilliant fun!

We do have mgs1 in the states man. Just have to download it on your ps3 then transfer the install over to your vita via usb cable

+dimitri fortounis I think crisis core and birth by sleep would be my top 2 and 3 but I'd still keep PW at number 1. All three games are excellent.
I'm surprised how good PSP games look on a big screen with the PSTV. Such an underrated little console.

It’s a really good game. Great graphics and gameplay but it didn’t hold my attention for long. I definitely prefer having a campaign to play through

I'd like to mention the port of Sid Meier's Pirates, which I love and Jax and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank and Dynasty Warriors PSP game got me into those respective series.
Oh and I can't forget Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles and the Power Stone collection!

I think the Armored Core 3 trilogy (Portable, Silent Line, Last Raven) can be considered in this list. Loved Gran Turismo PSP as well.
It does go to show how far gaming really has come to today I remember getting Tekken 2 on PS1 when it came out it was totally boss then we can get games like Tekken on a handheld with amazing PS3 graphics and I'm always beside myself..i tried to get into the FF fighting games on PSP but never game them a chance it looks like they used a similar fighting system they use in Kingdom Hearts? I just noticed in this vid

Hey Chris, if you have a hacked vita or pstv you can check out sharpscale and gepatch plugins to increase the graphic qualities of psp games

@@chrisx7683 since I did not own a PSP, I can tell you that the internet says: somewhat. With Vita1000 you can benefit from an OLED screen which makes colors pop out and PSTV can obviously benefit from the quality of your tv (especially if you use sharpscale plugin). But there is no automatic resolution upgrade, in fact this is the holy grail of vita modding and gepatch is an attempt at that(still early in development, though).

Nope. There are a lot of PSP games that can be downloaded directly on to the vita. Some games aren’t available though like Crisis Core and Birth By Sleep.

i always found it annoying that capcom was smart enough to put final fight in their collection but SEGA had no Streets of Rage/Bare Knuckle game and instead of the classic that was Revenge of Shinobi they gave you Shinobi 3 guess they figured people would pay individually for them...
Totally agree! No streets of rage was a HUGE miss and you’re right Revenge of Shinobi was so much better than Shinobi 3. I wish the Sega collection was coming to Vita too. I’d love to play all those games again.
Have you tried the 3DS version of Streets of Rage 2? It’s a really good port and the 3D is done so well.
2 old 4 gaming yea got streets of rage 1 and 2 the 3D actually immersed you more got shinobi 3 too. Hope they do a better collection or just make them playable on the vita or even the switch.

Yeah I played Toy Story 3 PSP back in the day, sound like a bad game but it was actually solid, missing the legendary toy box mode from the consoles but never the less still a *solid* story mode.
I've tried to get into the God of War games several times over the years, and whilst I think they're nice visually, the gameplay loop doesn't do much for me. Any tips? I've only ever given them 30 minutes each, and it's always struggled to hold my attention.

Generally yes, if you can see it on the PSN store you can buy and download it directly. Some PSP games and PS1 games only show up on the web store. You can buy it there and then go to your download list on the vita and then download it.

For some reason Sony has made it so that some regions can download certain games directly on vita and some you need to do it via a PS3. It sounds like for your region you download the PSP game to your PS3 (assuming you have one) and transfer it to your vita.

Boy and Girl is one game. It's Harvest Moon Back to Nature (PS1) but with a few extras like choosing gender. I had to settle for Back to Nature instead. It's pretty much the same game but yeah it sucks some games are missing like I couldn't download Dino Crisis 2 or Tekken 2 because they're only on US psn store :(

To play psp games on the vita are you able to just put the game in the vita like your normal vita game
For some games yes, for some you’ll need to download them onto a PS3 and then transfer them to your vita. There’s no straight rule for it but if you go to PSN and you find a PSP game that doesn’t say playable on Vita then you’ll likely need to transfer via PS3. BUT some PSP games can’t be played on vita at all. It’s best to check online if it’s compatible... Sony really made this process unnecessarily messy!
