what kind words, 2009korte- thank you! I believe that every musician tries to open themselves up and let something "Universal" come through their music, so I am thankful whenever a listener hears something like that in my music!
Jeff Pearce is among the best. His music is deep, profound, nuanced, and yet does not hoard your attention. Great for relaxation. Great for work. Great for thinking.
I went there to Ambicon .Was great.Made it a whole vacation week after that weekend.Toured San Fran, Yosemite and Napa.Stephen ,Jeff, Robert and everybody were all really cool.
I'd like to thank Stephen Hill for posting this video- playing AMBIcon was not only a musical highpoint for me, but, based on conversations that weekend, was a musical highpoint for a lot of the other musicians as well. I'd like to thank those who have posted for their kind words about the music. Playing in front of the crowd at AMBIcon was an honor, and having the "crowd" on TH-cam take the time to watch and listen is an honor as well.
Jeff, I can not express how much your music has helped me through the this past year, the one year date is today when My love of 46 yrs has gone. Thanks so much for helping me sleep. Blessings my friend.
Bob- my condolences to you. Whenever someone lets my music into their life as a source of comfort, it feels "not enough" for me to say "thank you"- and, yet, that's all I have- so, thank you, Bob.
The section from 16 minutes is my escape every-time, Brings all the emotions. I come here every once in a while but I listen to the ending everyday, that is something else. I’ve heard An Ending done a few time by various people but not on this level. Magical mate. Best wishes from England once again. And Merry Christmas to you and your family.
jeff, thank you for bringing some calm, peace, tranquility, and many hours of deeply satisfying pleasure, into my life. your music/art is a refuge for me in a world that can become far too chaotic and overwhelming. again, many thanks.
thanks, SecretGerms, for your kind words. Whenever my music can be a part of what someone uses to relax and receive peace, I consider it a high compliment and honor. I know that's what drew me as a listener to the Hearts of Space radio program all those years ago- calm, peace, and tranquility.
I appreciate your words, Anthony- all of the concerts at AMBIcon 2013 were wonderful (even mine wasn't too bad, to my ears... :)). The videos are of INCREDIBLY high quality, both video and audio, and I am thankful to Stephen Hill for posting them on youtube.
I still come back to this when in need of serious healing. Feels like I'm drifting through space, exploring the deepest darkest corners of our Universe without a care in the world. Much love, and thank you.
Many thanks for your kind words, GoldenFleeceForever! I am very grateful to Stephen Hill and all involved with Hearts of Space that they chose to film the shows and make them available on youtube!
thanks so much, eno eno eno, for your kind words! The AMBIcon 2013 setting, venue, and audience were absolutely perfect, and I believe those things can greatly affect a performance.
very kind words, Albert- thank you so much! Of the guitar pieces I performed, almost all of them were new, however, I ended the second guitar set with my song "to the shores of heaven" from the album of the same name. Somewhere in the second guitar set, I also slipped in a bit of "migration of souls" from my album "the light beyond". The piano section of my set contains songs from my most recent cd "in the season of fading light", which is all piano with touches of ambient guitar.
thank you so much for your kind words about my music, synth4ever! AMBIcon 2013 was a wonderful experience, although I fear that, as a performer, I may be a bit spoiled now; once a musician has heard their music in surround sound, it's a bit difficult to go back to stereo... :)
Fantastic! Just bought the new album and after 25 years of being the fan of new age piano music it's never too late to discover that the best is yet to come :) wonderful album Jeff and great performance on Ambicon...maybe Stephen gives out a 2 Live CD of this!
An ending, ascent is one of those themes that removes you from whatever holds you back. Thanks for giving it some of your own it has the same powerful effect on me.
I am a new fan Jeff, your CD With Evening Above is so very soothing - great for yoga - mind and body - I am not well but your music makes me feel better, peaceful. Thank you for bringing magic into my life!
thanks for the kindness, talos50! (and I'm a big admirer of Jonn's music, too- I've played "and the stars go with you" so much over the years that it might be imbedded in my d.n.a.!!) AMBIcon 2013 was a great event, and I'm thankful to Hearts of Space that the event has been "archived" very well on youtube!
Amazing use of guitar in an ambient context... beautiful lush reverbs, introspective and huge SPACE to get lost in. Would be amazing to hear in full surround sound. Thanks for posting these videos, they are truly fantastic. Long live AMBIcon and HOS! :)
There will be another Ambicon, I hope. Maybe sometime in the summer so that more of your faithful listeners around the globe can go. Thanks for the postings! I've been a "space fan" since I was in high school. Now I teach high school in Tokyo and have been doing so for a long time. You've been sending us the coolest music in the galaxy for even longer. Thanks!
Why oh why have I only just discovered Jeff Pearce? Amazing performance. While I now really miss that GP100, they're cheap and relatively easy to come by in good order. The skill, heart, and mind on display here is far more valuable and precious. Thank you Jeff!
Chillaxiom, thank you for the kind words about my music! Yes, the GP100 can be found for cheap now in the 21st century- it is an amazingly "deep" box, that still has plenty of tricks i haven't yet discovered. :)
Thanks for taking the time to respond Jeff. The Harmonizer and delay algorithms are worth the price alone, as you well know. Uncanny that my own space guitar journey began with a GP and a DD20 some years back! I could never get on with the reverb though, which is what initially sent me down the pedal rabbit hole, and I ended up selling it. Something I've often kicked myself for. I may have found a unit without the value knob jitter fault, so it might well finally be the time to revisit. A GP and my pair of H9s... Yes. Both musically and technically; immense thanks for the inspiration.
Maravilloso, he llegado a disolverme a dejar de escuchar los sonidos del ambiente, incluso a llorar sin motivo, tremendo, sanador, indescriptible... Gracias
thanks, Valarien777! There's always a danger in covering ANY beautiful piece of music. I wanted my arrangement of "An Ending (Ascent)" to fit well with the rest of my set, but I didn't want to soil it, either. :) so the goal is to find a balance between keeping the beauty of the original, and finding the space for my own "sound". Whether I succeeded or failed with this goal, it doesn't diminish, one bit, the beauty of the original.
jeffpearcemusic Wow! I'm honoured to have a reply! Really fantastic music by the way. I've just tried to sign up to your mailing list, but not had anything through yet - I'll try again later. Would be great to know if you'll be touring in the UK in the future?
Thanks, Jason- as far as the mailing list goes, I don't send out a lot of notifications- I don't want my communication to become spam. :) So i only send out newsletters a couple of times a year. No plans for a UK tour at the moment, but I'd love to one day!
Thanks Jeff. I've subscribed to your channel anyway, so I'll be able to stay informed of your activity. If you need any artwork doing for any future releases, feel free to check out my channel. I worked as an art director in movies creating graphics and concept art and it would be an honour to collaborate on something in the future. I heard you talking about your inspiration from the Apollo Atmospheres album by Brian Eno. Interestingly, I came across the album album roughly the same time in the 80's and it had a profound effect on me too! I had the privilege of seeing him play the album live at the Brighton Dome here in the UK back in 2010, along with the footage from 'For all Mankind' and it was....as special as you may well imagine. www.imdb.com/name/nm2142296/ www.jasonetienne.site (Still under construction) www.jasonetienne.com/speed-paintings
thanks for the kindness, dredlyn2001- I have very few "sacred cows" when it comes to playing guitar- if I can hold something in my hand, I'll try to play the guitar with it. :) Nine times out of ten, I get a terrible sound. But that one time out of ten- I find something that is, at least, intriguing.
Wow , Jeff.. Just WOW!! I think I just found my favorite "local" ambient artist.. I'm gonna order some of your music.. Wow!! BTW , I'm also from Indy.. Still live here.. Let me know when/if you perform in Indianapolis or surrounding areas..
thanks, BPeach11770! I very rarely play live locally- I have to head to the east coast/west coast, it seems! Drop me a note via my website www.jeffpearcemusic.com and I can keep you up to date on whether or not I'll play that elusive "local gig"! :)
sure- although it's not as exotic as you probably think! I don't use any guitar synths, but I DO use an ebow, and a knife, and a paintbrush on the guitar. My main processor is a roland gp 100, and for the ebow sounds, I use a quadraverb. I use a very simple boss dd20 as a looper in the effects loop of the gp-100- and that's it. Nothing very fancy at all.
Jeff I've been playing electric guitar for fourty some years. Listening to your music I was inspired to do this myself. I have no idea what equipment to buy. Any ideas for a basic layout? Right now I'm playing through a Marshall MF350 Half stack and a Small Orange Amp. I use an 8 string Agile 828 Intercepter Pro. Any suggestions I'd welcome very much! Thanks for your inspiration!
Hey bigrockets- you already have some great tone-sculpting gear! I'd suggest getting a reverb pedal (like the Strymon BigSky) and a delay pedal (so many of those out there... :) ). A volume pedal to put between your guitar and your gear is very helpful, too- with the pedal all the way back, where those no sound, you can strike a note on your guitar and then raise the volume with the volume pedal- it takes away the initial attack, and gives a very "synth" like sound (if you search youtube for volume swell guitar, you'll see great videos on how to do this, if you don't already know how)
Jeff, thank you so very much for your reply and suggestions! I will be purchasing the equipment you suggested. I've heard the Strymon BigSky before and it's an awesome pedal. I"ve been wanting a volume pedal for a long time now I have an excuse to buy it! LOL! Ah the delay pedals, so many as you say. Well I'll just get here on You Tube and audition them until I find one I like and can afford. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I appreciate it!
Thanks for the kind words, John! The piano section is made up of songs from my cd "in the season of fading light", and there are many songs on my latest cd "with evening above" that have their "sonic roots" in the AMBIcon concert.
Ohhh! I know this one! :) Thanks for the kind words, dozicusmazimus! That song is as yet untitled, but I'm hoping it will show up on a future cd of mine!
jeffpearcemusic That part is my Favorite....After listening to this about 50 times, I totally agree that the song that begins around 13:30 ......but it keeps going right into that magical piano piece that ends somewhere around 28:00....
Jeff, first off I just wanted to say your music is just flat out AWESOME. I found out about you through di.fm and have to say it is just remarkable what you do! Just wondering, have you completely stopped using the Stick or are you switching to using a guitar to make your sounds? Either way, I'm just shocked you were able to do this with a guitar! Love your work, sir!!
thanks, j4k31np41n- I appreciate the kind words! As far as instruments, my first 7 cd's (1993-2002) were all ambient guitar, with the Stick being on two of my cd's after that (lingering light in 2005 and rainshadow sky in 2008). I doubt if I'll put the Stick or ANY instrument away for good- it just depends on what the inner "muse" is pushing toward at the time. So far, it's avoided pushing me toward the bagpipes, and that's probably a good thing... :)
jeffpearcemusic Very cool stuff! Just shocks me how you have the ear and mind for such music. Not sure how bagpipes would work in ambient music, but I can say with certainty that, like many fans, will always look forward to new material from the one any only.
Sleipnir Blue Thank you! You are absolutely right. Mr. Pearce was kind enough to let me know in a PM. I recently learned you can have a similar effect when using a drum stick.
hehe thanks for stating that here... I have sometimes used the handle of an artist paint brush (since I paint) on the strings ... I suppose many things could be used - hmm now that I think of it I didn't actually try the soft bristles of a brush on the strings - must try that
Sleipnir Blue Thanks, I own an ebow, but it does get a bit hard to control the volume, I guess I need to practice more. Using the brushes of paints? I think that's worth experimenting. BTW, you got a new subscriber/follower, I'll check out your material soon.
thanks for the kind words, MarcoFreezer! that song at 7:30 was an unreleased song, but with multiple plays, it morphed a bit and became part of my longform piece "no matter how far", from my album "with evening above"
Hey dmatzo- I WISH those sheets were covering my gear! :) The table where my effects are on top- that table was covered with black simply to make the stage look "cleaner"- otherwise, there would be a pretty ugly table in view! In the background, the sheets are covering gear belonging to other musicians that were playing at AMBIcon. That way, acts could get on and off the stage pretty quick. My set up for AMBIcon was pretty simple- the fewer devices, the fewer things that can go wrong!
jeffpearcemusic I just saw the led's blinking....looked in synch with you. I would love to know what you use equipment-wise. No MIDI/Guitar synth? Looks like the case but sounds like mountains of them. I really enjoyed that. Nice. Very inspiring. I'm still trying to perfect a live looping set up with ableton and 2 echoplexes.
dmatzo oh, if only I were smart enough to figure out MIDI guitar and synch... :) (the synch light you see is, I THINK, from Robert Rich's setup) my set-up was pretty compact: guitar into volume pedal a whirlwind a/b switcher. Channel A went into digitech spsace station into roland gp-100 pre amp, with a boss dd20 in it's effects loop. Channel B went into Alesis quadraverb. There was a Korg AM8000R in the mixer's effects loop, and that was it, outside of the paintbrush and knife I used to play the guitar with. :) And with two Echoplexes and Ableton- you'll be set for MANY live gigs!
thank you, Dennis! AMBIcon was great fun- not only to play, but to hang out with people who love this sort of music!
My mind just turned into an ocean. :) Thank you Jeff!!! :)
thanks, Andrew Caddell- that's a high-level compliment, as far as I'm concerned! :)
perfect comparison!
Was great to see in person. Jeff is something else! That Eno piece was a shock, never ever thought I'd hear a cover of it.
thank you so much, aliensporebomb! I was glad you were there to see it live. The Eno cover was a fun challenge!
DNA in Sound❤....unique, outstanding from Time and Space, thanks JEFF❤🔥
what kind words, 2009korte- thank you! I believe that every musician tries to open themselves up and let something "Universal" come through their music, so I am thankful whenever a listener hears something like that in my music!
Thank you for the kind words, Samira Aslan!
This is the melody of the love leaving, the soul dissolving into eternity and the peaceful surrender to creator's will. Masterpiece.
thanks so much, me so liquid!

Unbelievable jeff mind blowing beautiful music.

jeff, thank you for bringing some calm, peace, tranquility, and many hours of deeply satisfying pleasure, into my life. your music/art is a refuge for me in a world that can become far too chaotic and overwhelming. again, many thanks.

The music of the cosmos. You are one of the best guitarist on earth Jeff. Thank you.
you have the most amazing of flow , we need a new Ambicon of this, plz
First time listening to your music.Hypnotic, space travel, very relaxing. I am a big fan of Jonn Serrie, now I am a big fan of yours. Thankyou.
thank you so much for your kind words about my music, synth4ever! AMBIcon 2013 was a wonderful experience, although I fear that, as a performer, I may be a bit spoiled now; once a musician has heard their music in surround sound, it's a bit difficult to go back to stereo... :)
Came home from work quite stressed. Heard this and feeling quite chilled now. Thanks Jeff, regards Drew.
Thanks, Tigran! Playing AMBIcon 2013 was an amazing experience, both as a performer AND a listener.
Soaring spirit and the final “Ascent” - stay blessed Jeff for your amazing gift in these turbulent times of Corona blues !
I so wish I was there.....,
Fantastic! Just bought the new album and after 25 years of being the fan of new age piano music it's never too late to discover that the best is yet to come :) wonderful album Jeff and great performance on Ambicon...maybe Stephen gives out a 2 Live CD of this!

jeffpearcemusic That part is my Favorite....After listening to this about 50 times, I totally agree that the song that begins around 13:30 ......but it keeps going right into that magical piano piece that ends somewhere around 28:00....
Jeff, did you ever live in NW Missouri? Fairfax in particular?
Hello. Question: what was that silver thing that Jeff used around 5:50? I'd like to try that technique. Thanks.
To be totally honest , it looks like a common butter knife to me ... perhaps that's what it is (but I'm guessing from the video)
I suppose many things could be used - hmm now that I think of it I didn't actually try the soft bristles of a brush on the strings - must try that
and the e-bow hand-held device looks like a great tool for sustained ambient guitar work if you are interested
Sleipnir Blue Thanks, I own an ebow, but it does get a bit hard to control the volume, I guess I need to practice more. Using the brushes of paints? I think that's worth experimenting. BTW, you got a new subscriber/follower, I'll check out your material soon.
19:37!!!!!
7:30 track name ?? Awesome
thanks for the kind words, MarcoFreezer! that song at 7:30 was an unreleased song, but with multiple plays, it morphed a bit and became part of my longform piece "no matter how far", from my album "with evening above"
Notice all that Stuff he has covered up in rag....word
What blows my mind is that he's doing this with a guitar and some foot pedals.
