Hi Kris, a couple of pointer learned form better crab fisherman then me: 1. Try freezing one of your bait buckets. This will give you a slow release of scent over a longer time frame. 2. add some bait (fish carcass or chicken leg tied off/clipped inside of the trap. This gives them something to eat. I have been told the clicking sound they make when they eat draws in other crabs. 3/ Don't be afraid to use crab rocket fuel or cooking oil on your bait, this improves the scent streak and draws them in. 4. Invest in door weights or a roll of wire lead to add weight to the door.

I thought Dungness Crabs were saltwater
the crab can't get the bait cause the holes are to small for their claw....that's why they leave....
