Dr. Huberman, please. Read the book: Portal. By Yolande Norris Clark. Listen to the Free Birth Society podcast. You are missing the biggest and most fundamental part of humanity that has been taken from us since the beginning of the industrial age. You will be amazed of what you don’t know. Please, please dig into free birth.

I will never understand why people are so captivated listening to this man endlessly talk about himself. Nowhere in his book or in any of his interviews does he talk about "the art of learning." It's really just memoirs and stories about himself. Not valuable at all. I think we largely have Tim Ferris to blame for this hype.

His ability to blend intellectual depth with exceptional skill in both chess and martial arts showcases not only his talent but also his relentless pursuit of mastery. 🙌Watching him perform is a testament to the power of dedication & the art of LEARNING!! His insights into the process of growth & development resonate deeply. This conversation serves as motivation for others to embrace challenges with courage & grace. Josh's influence extends far beyond his achievements. He embodies the spirit of resilience and the joy of lifelong learning, inspiring countless individuals to reach for their own greatness. I had to let this one bounce around inside of me for a day or so before I commented. I learned so much! I was especially moved by his discussion of ego, and his sensitivity in being able to perceive through touch a fellow fighter's brittleness and flow, and in his statement that in some fighters, "you can feel when the earth is moving inside them." Physically speaking, the bulk of his thenar eminence must provide him with astounding grip strength. And he moves his hands so fluidly! This one felt like a blessing. Thank you both.

I finally finished listening to this episode today.. and I have got to say this was one I truly needed to hear. I went to school and got my medical coding certificate and life had a different plan for me. I'm days away from my CCS expiring, which I never got to use in the way I intended it. I can now view this experience that my coding training was not for the medical coding position itself.. it was for a different kind of decoding - decoding myself... As I'm going through EMDR therapy all of the skills will be very useful for me in the healing journey... Josh W wasn't wrong.. you can take the principles from one domain and apply them to another.

There are so many parts of this episode that I rewatched and saved. I have inadvertently been practicing what he's been saying. By gaining knowledge, I've been able to completely change my life for the better. Thank you so much for these videos and I can't begin to tell you how much you and the guests have provided me with.
Andrew, you are on my list of people I will be speaking to on my podcast (in development). I look forward to it and sharing how I've overcome adversity and trauma by utilizing resources like yours. I relate a lot to David Goggins, although he doesn't know this. When I first heard him speak, he was saying exactly how I feel. The drive I have is because I realize the gift of life and how fragile our lives and bodies are. I'm a survivor of sexual assault and domestic violence (domestic terrorism) and was able to escape with my three kids before he killed me. I went through three years of court involving the domestic violence and was shocked at the injustices for victims. I was also inspired by my attorneys in my case and enrolled in my undergrad, graduated with honors, then applied and was accepted into law school. I knew that I was able to do something about what was happening in society and with so many people, especially children negatively affected. Perpetuating generational trauma and poor parenting. I'm in my second year of law school and am currently developing a podcast. Because of people like you and many others, I've learned that knowledge is power. With that, I lost 75ish lbs and am in the best shape of my life. While I'm a single mom of three trying to get through law school, I never forget what life is about. And hearing Josh speak on it was very fulfilling to me. I'm so glad that people like you exist because without us, who would be making a real and lasting difference?
I look forward to talking with you one day.

I feel so blessed to have been able to hear this conversation and in some way take from this and use it in my own endeavors to face myself and live beyond the pain. I try to embody the aspect of taking on hard things and growing, but that process is fraught with darkness without someone to help guide through the edges and contours that can be so hard for someone just beginning in the process. So thank you very much for coming on Josh and thank you Andrew for thanking him on all of our behalf because it was so worthwhile. "Relentless truth to myself with authenticity, with love, with receptivity" and " I have the gift of being just fucking allergic to being untrue to myself". This resonates deeply, and have never heard it framed quite this way. I've felt the agitation and friction within me at times and in the moment didn't necessarily understand why. In being untrue or not authentic to myself it does feel like an allergic reaction.

He has no interest whatsoever in providing tangible takeaways. He's just here to talk about himself and how incredible his mind is. I find it insufferable and of basically no value.
I think the only reason you've been duped into thinking it's wisdom is that authority figures like Tim Ferris and Huberman give him validation. But I'll bet if you had picked up his book, having never heard any of this hype, you've had put down pretty fast.

@ 1: 00: 23 You are describing something I experienced one time I encountered a thief trying to steal my car. I confronted him and asked him what he was doing and said nothing but instead started walking towards me and was reaching for his inside of his jacket as if reaching for a gun or a knife. As a student of the martial arts of many years, I felt a rush of adrenaline come all through my body and without thinking I experienced an intense focus and great amount of energy where everything seemed to slow down. I was able to run up to him and kicked him in the solar plexus to stop him from grabbing whatever he was reaching for...he ran away from me I chased him for a few yards but let him go. All these took less than a minute but after all was over I was drained of all the energy I had and just sat there reflecting on what just happend...Now I know! Thank you for your knowledge.

Quick overview of the main points:
Josh Waitzkin began his chess career at six and became a national and international champion.
Despite his success, he chose to pursue new ventures like martial arts and ocean sports, embodying a desire for mastery across disciplines.
Waitzkin discusses applying chess strategies to diverse fields and customizing the learning process to individual needs.
His approach emphasizes thriving under pressure, understanding emotional dynamics, and using tension-relaxation cycles to boost performance.
Failures are seen as growth opportunities, with Waitzkin sharing how setbacks informed his progress in other areas.
The concept of living intentionally and aiding others in learning efficiency is central to his philosophy.
The narrative extends to lessons of mortality and resilience, highlighting the importance of adaptability and continuous growth in life and competitive sports.

@ I agree. The overview is intended as guide not a substitute for the original content itself. Personally, I use our summary tool prior to watching a long form video (this one isn't that long but still), before investing the time into watching the video. We also have millions of book titles available for summary as well. Check our website out if you're interested. The first dozen or so summaries as completely free.

I had to pause a lot this episode to reflect on my actions. We actually fill in the 'empty' moments in our life with immediate gratification and don't take time to let our mind wander. I would be curious to know if Josh thinks that Mariusz Pudzianowski has that competitor mindset !
