I really enjoy playing LW BUT he simply doesn't have carry potential. Just like Mercy his potential is only realized if your team is able to leverage his potential. I don't think there's a character that benefits more from active comms except maybe Ball and Sombra. I wish i could play him more but I hate relying on my team to pop off. Don't know how many games I've had where I've basically negated most ults, healed more than anyone else, got several kills, and never died only to end up with a big L.
I main brig and lw and the difference is mental. On lw I die maybe 1-2 times per game, top lobby healing and if I make a single mistake with grip it’s an immediate loss lmao. I’ve dropped from GM to Diamond trying to figure out how to carry on him.
One thing i tried and worked, blocked bastion ULT with the pedal. Pop it down, step on and off quick so it raises, then stand under it! blocks the missles.
This is easily the worst advice I've ever heard to dodge bastion ult. Any high level bastion is going to say thanks to you in all chat for feeding him picks. Petal can tank a single shell, and if bastion sees someone ducking under a petal they'll just double tap it every time. I would use this tech ONLY if he has one shot left. And if thats the case it means he killed your other support, and you should be considering if that was your fault.
@coryp6868 it wasn't advice, just sharing one of the multiple abilities i found that the pedal can technically block. Also I'm silver 5 so yeah, not really "high level", it worked just fine, had all 3 missles coming at me, pedaled up jumped off dashed under and one missle hit the ground and hit me but the other one hit the pedal

Not my point, my point is that giving average players grandiose ideas of petaling the ult will not only never "make a play" but any decent bastion will see what you're doing and triple tap off the side of the petal, wiping your idiot team that GROUPED UP for his AoE ult. Solution is always spread and keep moving randomly. Even pull is dangerous, lots of good bastions tap once to bait a pull, then double tap the new exposed duo, one of which can't use mobility for a brief moment.

Something fun I discovered with Lifegrip: if you grip an ally with a tracer bomb stuck to them, the explosion will be left “out” of the grip’s bubble, so with the right distance, path and timing you can render a Tracer bomb useless.
Something the vid missed: You can ark your heal around enemy shields. This works because the game remembers the last ally you looked at for a fraction of a second. Look at someone, look away, release.

as a lifeweaver main, his primary fire is great at covering fire (especially if you can headshot). you can use its projectiles to pressure a widow or any poke, as it is great at pressure at distance. you can even cover a door way while waiting fo cooldowns.
Yes! When a widow is overwhelming the lobby instead of kiri, I now pick LW. Kiri is a threat, but not consistent and widow won’t back down until she takes some damage- LW spray is threatening enough that she needs to pick a new spot!
Hello from the future, as a lifeweaver main this is extremely helpful advice. He is very useful and meant to be played creatively his healing output, ult cancels, and survivabilty all make him formidable support in my opinion. I would very nuch like to stress that pre charging his flower is very important, when the enemy has been gone and you are holding point charging it to full can easily negate early dmg from the enemy that could take out your dps early on. His healing is very underestimated but if used right he can out heal a number of supports.

From what I’ve noticed, Lifeweaver’s healing output is not sustainable on its own. Especially since the maximum output needs to charge up which in a fight can be too time consuming. Which is why I’m glad to have another support on my team. Lifeweaver’s healing, like every other support, is not his primary function, to support means to help your team, help them finish an enemy off, help them heal up, help them out of sticky situations. Lifeweaver in my opinion excels at getting his teammates out of tough situations. Literally. Pulling his teammates is so useful and his platform ability provides ample opportunity for escape from hectic situations. I’m not an expert on Lifeweaver, but from what I’ve experienced, he can operate very well with practically every support hero. But he excels with support heroes that can deal out a ton of heals. So heroes like Ana and Baptiste (as another commenter pointed out) are especially good matches with Lifeweaver, they can heal up the teammates you pull out from a losing firefight. And throughout tussle you can alternate between providing minor heals and dealing out decent poke damage. Also I had no clue his dash ability healed him, I just thought I was somehow good with dodging and retreating 😂
I love Lifeweaver but some teams just don’t like being pulled, I remember in comp out mauga kept pushing by himself and then got angry at me for pulling him away 💀
U forgot that u can block Mei and Sig ult with Petal too, if u place it right in the middle. Its very niche and takes some practise, but it won me some fights.

Yep, sadly that's what it has gotten to. The support now are also DPS that need to keep everyone alive. It's sad. Support should be more play making and setting your team up for a play, not becoming the play maker yourself. If DPS and Tank can't create the play in that moment why the hell should the support HAVE to. It's sad. Which is why i've gotten more into playing moira in lower ranks since the Tank doesn't understand they can't charge in anymore. They get melted then blame the supports. The support has to be the play maker this season and it's sad. I've chosen to go and play dps this season and i've climbed high than i have previous seasons on DPS. But support I've fallen lower than i have before. I was Plat 4 in season 8. Now im silver 3 after deranking multiple times due to tanks not understanding they can't TANK everything anymore.
I dunno, for me yesterday I found him doing just fine when paired with almost any support. I think the reason people don’t see him as on the better support heroes is due to his heal requiring you to charge up to get the most effect out of it and when it’s charged your movement speed is reduced. But in truth, he can do so much more than healing or dealing damage to support his team. As I’m sure you’re well aware, Lifeweaver has immense ult cancellation potential. Orisa, Zarya, Mei, Bastion, Rein. Primarily Orisa’s from what I’ve noticed is something he can especially render useless. But the others his basic kit can negate for himself. I find him to be more of a hero you keep in background who can heal people from a distance and poke enemies from afar. His pull ability if used properly can save teammates and his ultimate is much better than mercy’s in my opinion. Yes it has a health bar and can be destroyed, but if coordinated properly, it can have a major impact in almost every encounter.
When I play quick play after we win a team fight I try to pre place my platform but my teammates just jump on and and the jump of it just waisting my platform
Yeah he’s a ton of fun and is the only support that can heal from far away AND be able to escape flanks/dives. Unfortunately though he seems weak in comp though.

@@jacfruit3843 You also don’t need to charge up to 70 for every burst. Especially on teammates with low hp that are at high risk of death, if you wait to charge to 70 they can die in that time so I’ll throw a couple 10hp-30hp blossoms at them in case they were to get hit with chip damage. Overall it’s best not to wait for 70 charge for every heal, your healing per second will be lower due to downtime unless you let go of every charge perfectly. Also you’ll pump out a ton of extra healing if you use life grip well on critical allies (usually the tank). Don’t be afraid to use the tree often, I see too many LW’s holding it to attempt to defend against big ults. It’s not really meant for that in my opinion. It’s basically giving your team a 3rd support for a brief period. You’re not going to heal through a nano blade or visor with it so don’t hold it and it charges quickly. I use dash whenever I take damage because it charges your ult. I pretty much heal bot with him unless my team is all >80% hp. I normally end up with highest healing in the lobby with an average of about 10k per game.
I think I'm an ok lifeweaver, I have done around 19k heals one game but I can't get dmg, less than 1k every game, how do I increase dmg while still keeping my team alive. I guess what I'm asking is how do i know when to damage vs when to heal cause it seems that when I try to put the hurt on my team dies but if I don't we get slammed by the other team cause their healers do more damage
One thing I can confidently say is that when I use LW and Soldier 76, I can stay alive for a weirdly amount of time, even without a healer, so I try to use LW to do tick damage and then use the flower to escape and heal, and then do it all over again. May not be the BEST damage, but hey, damage is damage and if I can keep the enemy team at bay while my team comes back, I can live with that.
Now im plat 3 and im slowly climbing using almost only life weaver, and from my experience he have a hard time dealing with teammate tanks that are : Large HP pools/big hitbox, like D.va, Roadhog and sometimes Reinhardt, this because as they are full targeted you dont dispense enough healing to overcome the damage dealt when for example holding points or facing in plain terrain , forcing the team to back out and give up the target or succumb to the damage, this can be avoided if: the tank have a lot of experience and fully know what he is doing or i just adapt and use high-heal dispenser like Kiriko or Ana ( that are even better if the tank are big hitbox as it is more difficult to miss heals to them with ana or kiri, plus they are usefull a lot to Hog as supports), Lifeweaver is also, even if less powerfull, a substitute to Mercy if Pharah or Eco are on your team as the fairly medium-long range of weaver and the easy aim auto-lock heal can give precious heals in mid air to them, even when they are high up, also quickly and costantly,this is my expirience for now👍👍👍
Also Life Grip is one of the few abilities that can Friendly Fire (if not the only one) Got a lifeweaver in Samoa that pulled me into the abyss to my death…
The problem with your guide is that you're saying things like "right click" which only affects PC players. The majority of players play on console and might not know what you're talking about.
We can't find true stats, but I would actually be surprised if there were more console players than PC in an FPS game like Overwatch But other than that, I don't see how is this an issue. As a former console player, things like this on guides didn't bother me since it was simple deduction, or you just have to look at the bottom right of the screen to see the buttons
The problem I have with LW is that it is most optimal to mainly just healbot on him, because of the weapon swap time and his inconsistent damage, compared to his very consistent burst healing that can't miss. it rarely makes sense to "gamble" by going for damage instead of just having confirmed healing. They need to fix him fundamentally as a character design because the healing doesn't require any mechanical skill and it gets way too much free value. but unlike Mercy, his healing is way more impactful because it is burst healing, has a higher healing output and he also has the platform and the pull he can use on the same target to keep them alive. Once they have addressed his healing issue, they can then start changing other aspects of his kit to compensate.
I don't see any problems with a support doing support things? You said heal bot, but isn't it your job to heal people? Besides, there are so many other things you can do with him, petal slept teammates; tank over extend, pull them back; hitscans playing too close, pull them to high ground, or throw them a petal. He's so good for repositioning your team, especially when they don't know wtf they're doing.
@nathannguyen1431 but you only get the grip once every 19 seconds, so you have to use it more sparingly, so you can't afford to use it to pull teammates to high ground. The petal is so situational that it is just inconsistent to use it on teammates and is better just to use it selfishly. He is essentially a worse Bap that does way less damage and slightly more healing because his pull and heals are only single target.
Na. Lifeweaver is A tier , at worst B tier. Roadhog is the throw pick right now. Lifeweaver does a lot of healing and has tons of survivability, so u can keep urself safe from divers. Also his utility life grip and petal platform are very useful. U can combo and counter ults with these abilities. His ult is rlly good and u get it rlly fast. His ult is like old rally and people said old rally was good. Also Life Weavers tree has 1200hp making it stronger than rally.
@user-gq8ux5ow1n dont get me wrong I enjoy playing lw a lot, but as far as carry potential he is losing the battle with even mercy. Every other support pumps too much damage. And I already know what would make him viable as a carry. Give his thorns a needler effect where so many consecutive hits will pop for extra damage, but reduce his ammo to 30, down from 80. This makes them highly rewarding, fast moving, but still challenging projectile shots that run out quick and still prevent him from healing at the same time that reward accuracy and actually give him kill potential and make him remotely useful against tanks and flankers. Also the lgbt garbage feels forced (because it is) and just sours the flavor of the character a bit, but whatever. I play him.

His platform also rises above the reach of Bizzard, so you can avoid it by going up before freezing, and then pulling an ally caught within.

Now im plat 3 and im slowly climbing using almost only life weaver, and from my experience he have a hard time dealing with teammate tanks that are : Large HP pools/big hitbox, like D.va, Roadhog and sometimes Reinhardt, this because as they are full targeted you dont dispense enough healing to overcome the damage dealt when for example holding points or facing in plain terrain , forcing the team to back out and give up the target or succumb to the damage, this can be avoided if: the tank have a lot of experience and fully know what he is doing or i just adapt and use high-heal dispenser like Kiriko or Ana ( that are even better if the tank are big hitbox as it is more difficult to miss heals to them with ana or kiri, plus they are usefull a lot to Hog as supports), Lifeweaver is also, even if less powerfull, a substitute to Mercy if Pharah or Eco are on your team as the fairly medium-long range of weaver and the easy aim auto-lock heal can give precious heals in mid air to them, even when they are high up, also quickly and costantly,this is my expirience for now👍👍👍

The problem with your guide is that you're saying things like "right click" which only affects PC players. The majority of players play on console and might not know what you're talking about.
We can't find true stats, but I would actually be surprised if there were more console players than PC in an FPS game like Overwatch
But other than that, I don't see how is this an issue. As a former console player, things like this on guides didn't bother me since it was simple deduction, or you just have to look at the bottom right of the screen to see the buttons

The problem I have with LW is that it is most optimal to mainly just healbot on him, because of the weapon swap time and his inconsistent damage, compared to his very consistent burst healing that can't miss. it rarely makes sense to "gamble" by going for damage instead of just having confirmed healing.
They need to fix him fundamentally as a character design because the healing doesn't require any mechanical skill and it gets way too much free value. but unlike Mercy, his healing is way more impactful because it is burst healing, has a higher healing output and he also has the platform and the pull he can use on the same target to keep them alive.
Once they have addressed his healing issue, they can then start changing other aspects of his kit to compensate.
I don't see any problems with a support doing support things? You said heal bot, but isn't it your job to heal people? Besides, there are so many other things you can do with him, petal slept teammates; tank over extend, pull them back; hitscans playing too close, pull them to high ground, or throw them a petal. He's so good for repositioning your team, especially when they don't know wtf they're doing.
@nathannguyen1431 but you only get the grip once every 19 seconds, so you have to use it more sparingly, so you can't afford to use it to pull teammates to high ground. The petal is so situational that it is just inconsistent to use it on teammates and is better just to use it selfishly. He is essentially a worse Bap that does way less damage and slightly more healing because his pull and heals are only single target.

Na. Lifeweaver is A tier , at worst B tier. Roadhog is the throw pick right now. Lifeweaver does a lot of healing and has tons of survivability, so u can keep urself safe from divers. Also his utility life grip and petal platform are very useful. U can combo and counter ults with these abilities.
His ult is rlly good and u get it rlly fast. His ult is like old rally and people said old rally was good. Also Life Weavers tree has 1200hp making it stronger than rally.

@user-gq8ux5ow1n dont get me wrong I enjoy playing lw a lot, but as far as carry potential he is losing the battle with even mercy. Every other support pumps too much damage.
And I already know what would make him viable as a carry.
Give his thorns a needler effect where so many consecutive hits will pop for extra damage, but reduce his ammo to 30, down from 80.
This makes them highly rewarding, fast moving, but still challenging projectile shots that run out quick and still prevent him from healing at the same time that reward accuracy and actually give him kill potential and make him remotely useful against tanks and flankers.
Also the lgbt garbage feels forced (because it is) and just sours the flavor of the character a bit, but whatever. I play him.
