      Well, I dont know a lot, but I was feeding my 4/5 month old bearded dragon about two times a day, which I learned is to much and over feeding can be harmful, so I switched to doing it every day or every other day. I would think a 3 month old beardie would probably eat about a cup/a half cup of greens and veggies every other day, maybe less, with some crickets and mealworms probably every day. Again I dont know much and could always be wrong, but I hope this helped 😊

    • @Eli-ln2rf
      @Eli-ln2rf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @J J um I'm not an expert but I've done lots of research and asked my vet what the proper care was for a beardie, it's really not good to feed your dragon that much when they're so young, it can make them sick and cause problems later in their life. Your supposed to feed them veggies and proteins frequently, but that mean like one or at the most twice a day, depending on your beardie and their age.

    My first beardy Sandman that I had for 8 years didn't like greens much. But my current beardy Einstein is 9 and he loves Spring Mix I only give him organic though because I worry about pesticides. 2 things I always make sure he has is RepCal Bearded Dragon food because it is a balanced diet with D3 and Calcium and fresh filtered water. I give him crickets once in a while but I always have 25 to 50 Super Worms on hand because I love to hand feed them to him. I don't recommend Super Worms for juveniles though. Just thought I would share my experience since both my beardies lived past their 8 year life expectancy. I also provide a gradient temperature of 90-95 on the heat rock, Hammock end of his 75 gallon with a ZooMed 75 Watt Spot and a ZooMed 10.0 UVB on the water end. He also has a tree and tunnel in the middle so he can adjust to any temperature and light he wants. I have the lights on a timer so they come on about 12pm and go out at 9pm and I leave his heat rock plugged in which automatically goes off and comes on to stay at 90°. The Spot dome is coated on the inside with glow in the dark stuff and simulates the moon. I think it's made by ExoTerra.

    I have about a 3 month old and after trying a few different combos, I found that he likes the combo of collards, carrots and zucchini. To get him to eat it I established a routine where when I turn his light on to wake him up, I also put the salad in and that's the only thing that goes in there for about an hour. At first he didn't touch it but after a few days and the fact that he's hungry when he wakes up and there's nothing else to eat, he goes right for it.

    honestly I would go with any lizard, as long as it's alive and well fed. I'd go with one with no tale, it not about what's on the outside. when you look at only the outside they are an object, if you look at them as a living creature, they are all created equal.

      Derpy Purr My oldest female I got her with only 1 eye that works since the petstore had gotten her from a bad breeder that had assisted her in her hatching and ended up breaking the bone that supports her eye and he never got it fixed. The petstore was going to kill her. She has lived for 4 years now and receives eye drops everyday. The vet told me she has no pain at all

    • @carlynoneya8397
      @carlynoneya8397 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Derpy Purr Also my youngest male I had gotten from that same petstore and nearly a year after I got him he started having seizures. Took him to a vet and they said it was bad genetics. He is partially paralyzed in his lower back. Since he hasn't moved in a while his muscles have kinda disappeared. Moving doesn't cause any pain to him its just hard for him to get around. The vet has recommended for me to give him baths to strengthen him and to get him to chase his food. He has slowly been getting better!

    I suppose it depends on the beardie but, I have noticed over the years of having a beardie
    for a companion; they will not eat the fruits and veggies while I stood and watched.
    As soon as I gave them privacy they chowed down. Of course it is a whole different
    scenario when live bait was offered. Chaos and a fury of a feeding frenzy took place.
    I admit, I enjoy watching them hunt their prey. Thanks for posting video.

    Very helpful. I got one baby beardie. Its not eating the veggies, I didn't know why until I saw it takes more then one to get them to start eating. I do hold the mealworms in my fingers to offer them to her, and sometimes I can pass the veggies as mealworms and she'll eat them, but helpful. My sister has the geckos, that used to be mine, in her room, and she was trying to clean the cage, and put the baby gecko in the beardies cage. Bad idea. The minute I came in, she was hysterically screaming and crying. Apparently, she had put the gecko in, and before it could do anything, the beardie attacked it and as the gecko dropped its tail, the bearded dragon ate the tail!!! I came in to the sight of the dragon sitting on her rock, with the smallest little tip of the tail sticking out of her mouth, flicking wildly. And in the corner, the gecko, now without a tail, was hiding in the corner looking at the dragon, named Maxine. And to think, this all happened on MLK Day!

    I would STRONGLY recommend you to stop feeding your dragons lettuce, since it has very little nutritional value. Instead, you should feed them kale, collard greens, mustard greens, and broccoli. Also, you should mix up everything in the salad plate instead of having each vegetable grouped up. That way the dragons won't be eating just one - their favorite lol. You want them to eat a large variety of veggies. But other then that, I really like how your caring for your pets. I especially like the fact that you feed them cockroaches instead of crickets. To anyone who doesn't feed roaches to their reptiles-please start. Crickets are not healthy for reptiles... maybe once in a while it is okay to feed them crickets, but it should not be their main source of protein. That's about it. ;)

      Animals! could you explain why kale is bad for bearded dragons? I am only asking because I own one and feed him kale every once in a while. My only assumptions beforehand were that kale is probably a very potent in terms of nutrients for most living animals and that the dark green hints that it is possibly harder to break down in the stomach, so I have been giving it to him in light servings and when there's nothing else in his stomach (i.e to start the day). Are there any other reasons not to feed bearded dragons kale

Then dip a worm say like a wax worm dip it into the sauce and feed it, then your baby bearded dragon will get used to the flavour. Hope this helped you.

    ... Why are you feeding them lettuce? That's like feeding them water.

    • @awood8964
      @awood8964 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Combined with the other vegetables the lettuce is very good for them. It provides a huge source of water. They all appear to be in good health and weight. Having a variety of vegetables (including lettuce). Is never a bad thing. Vegetable matter takes up the smallest portion of their diet anyway.

    • @OrlyStudios
      @OrlyStudios 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Austin Wood It's still a gaping hole in the food source. Darker greens would be far better for the beardies. So long as the water source is kept clean and in motion, the thirst drive of the bearded dragons will take care of the rest without having to feed them that garbage.

      Donna Bates I never said feeding them vegetables was bad, It's just that light lettuce is completely devoid of nutrients.

    • @awood8964
      @awood8964 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You're making it sound as if lettuce is some type of poison, which is awfully dramatic XD. There is nothing in the lettuce that is harmful to them.
      Lettuce has little but water yes, we can agree on this. BUT, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, if it's used in tandem with other vegetables that already give the beardy it's essential nutrients.
      I've been giving mine lettuce mixed with collard greens, carrots, and various fruits for years now. There is no gaping hole, when it's already been filled and then some.

    You know that young beardys need to eat at least 3 times a day EACH, and 75 - 80% will be live insects. And the adults are 2-3 times a day with 20-30% being live insects. and you should NOT be keeping g them together unless breeding! I'm not trying to sound rude, sorry if you take it that way, but you should do alot more research on them before keeping as pets, as they do need specific requirements. ( And lettuce give no nutrition, u r killing them while they think they are eating.)

    • @simplytessaroot4272
      @simplytessaroot4272 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Feeding them that much and seriously hurt them unless you feed them a fourth amount of there food at once but if you are feeding them a full meal each time they could die and when you feed them insects they don’t know when to stop eating they only know when to stop eating vegetables but as baby’s they don’t know when to stop for anything

    Starving your beardies for 2 days and then taking the plate of food away from them a minute after they start chowing is cruelty, even if it was just for the video. And that is far too little greens for every single dragon to get enough to eat. You are cruel. For shame.

    Everyone has an opinion. Actually, my bearded dragon is 9 years old and she eats salad with lettuce. Be careful not to use iceberg lettuce; however, the green leaf is good for them. Watch out for spinach because it is high in iron. Also, I stay away from nightshades such as tomatoes. My beardie loves strawberries which is a good source of Vitamin C. I'm not going to tell you what your dragon can have or not have because there are many myths out there regarding dragon health.

    I used to give my bearded dragon lettuce, not allot, but I stopped because it was giving him diarrhea. Bok Choy I found to be allot better.
    The salads I give him consist of several things, with the main ingredient being the bok choy because he likes the leaf, followed by peas, broccoli, squash, kale, carrots, red/ white cabbage, sprayed with a calcium enriched water spray, and a light multi vitamin dust.
    That's just me.

    You shouldn’t always give bearded dragons lettuce because lettuce has a lack of calcium which is something a bearded dragon needs to keep its bone stricter stabilized and not collapse. If you proceed feeding mostly lettuce they will die.
