Surprised you don't see more responses on your gentle, esoteric approach to reviewing cars. I own a 2013 X351 3.0 V6 diesel and run it for my small private tours in Ireland and it never fails to have the WOW factor for all my guests. Much more than my Mercedes Benz E350 V6. It also turns heads when shiny in its black livery, is a regular talking point with strangers on the street and gets marvellous attention from my car valeter!
I own a 2012 X351 Portfolio XJ and mostly agree with what you had to say. Being an older gent I actually wanted to buy the older X350/358 version but was unable to find one in the right colour and condition, so I bought the X351. Yes, the cabin is a nice place to be, but in my opinion nowhere near as stately and grand as a Sovereign model X350/358, and the infotainment system is dreadful on the X351, practically unusable when it comes to Satnav! Prior to this XJ I owned two X types which were both more comfortable in the driver's seat department which is most disappointing considering that the XJ Portfolio is the top of the range. On the road, it handles well with a decent ride, but with only air suspension on the back, it doesn't supply the magic carpet ride of the older model's all-around air ride! However, it is such a handsome car inside and out you forgive its shortcoming! Incidentally, I average 35mpg around town and 47mpg on a steady run up the motorway.
I just wish the rear seats folded down as a standard feature. They don't even have a ski hatch 🧐 Jag totally missed the mass market by not having a hatchback saloon in their range
Indeed, prefer the X350. This, arguably, is the car that killed the XJ. 1969-2019.. Also prefer the XK over the F-Type. But also really like the original XK8.

to be fair what ever they had brought out the XJ was on its way to fail, everyone seems to want SUV's now for some stupid reason
