There's another video on this channel where The Mask comes up and James mentions in passing that he doesn't like it and Mason goes "excuse me... what are you... SMOKIN" and it's one of my favourite moments in this channel's history
I'm pretty sure James building up to his insult about Mason's love life then doing a very low energy version of The Mask was funnier than anything in the movie.
This was one of "my films" as a kid; I had the VHS, had the toys, watched the cartoon, bought the comic of the cartoon of the film of the original comics, rented the SNES game, had a CD-Rom with a (slightly censored I think) motion comics version of the original comic. Even saw Son of the Mask in the cinema out of loyalty (and yes I would like you to cover it). Watched it once in my early adulthood, thought "hmm, there's really not much going on here", and haven't watched it since. It's really only of interest as a relic of an era where a fairly low budget production like this could come out of nowhere to be one of the biggest hits of the year.
I'm listening to James complain about finding Jim Carrey's Mask insufferable and already laughing at the thought of him having to watch Jamie Kennedy's Mask
You guys should watch *Drop Dead Fred* . It preceded The Mask with it's Tex Avery style VFX by 3 years. Rik Mayall and Pheobe Cates. Not a great movie, but Mayall is hilarious in the scenes where he's allowed to do his own thing. I think this is a perfect movie for COG.
I think if anything they should combine both angles by having it when somebody with actual cruel intentions Wears The Mask they become the hyper violent nigh unstoppable mass murderer from the comics whilst if somebody who’s good wears it they become goofy versions of their deepest desires
I watched half of it as a child and just remember feeling exactly as James described- I can appreciate it's an impressive performance, but I haaaaaaate it.
I like how James thinks he has a choice in whether he has to watch son of the mask.
It was a foregone conclusion.
My only hope is that it becomes his son's favorite movie so he has to watch it on repeat.
It's better though that we know he hasn't seen it. Because once he does the reaction would be glorious.

Ah Mason, truely a man of culture knowing the names of at least 3 swing revival bands of the 90s.
Fun fact about the dog: Milo is his name in the film but his real name was Blue Harvest, which was the working title for the original Star Wars film.
There's another video on this channel where The Mask comes up and James mentions in passing that he doesn't like it and Mason goes "excuse me... what are you... SMOKIN" and it's one of my favourite moments in this channel's history
name the video, friend
@@SunnyGoesIn1D can't remember 😔
@@BonJoviBeatlesLedZep ah, that’s alright
*[grins insanely, tears hole out of the back of my pants]*
"SOMEBODY TOP ME"
Amazing.
The Mask: Putting the "Power" in "Power Bottom" (2022)
I'm pretty sure James building up to his insult about Mason's love life then doing a very low energy version of The Mask was funnier than anything in the movie.
I absolutely adores this movie as a kid. I haven’t seen it in so long though… I wonder how well it holds up. I should revisit it
A live action mask series would be great where every couple of episodes it switches users.
I think this where Jim Carrey really honed his craft, it’s possibly his best and most genuine performance
the manic energy of this video was incredible. Props to Ben
You guys successfully made my girlfriend decide I can’t watch these in front of her because of that dead dog bit
Riiip. But he's still alive in our hearts!
Those musical numbers were amazing Mason! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MASON?!
I'm listening to James complain about finding Jim Carrey's Mask insufferable and already laughing at the thought of him having to watch Jamie Kennedy's Mask
hahaha, saaaame! like, you think this is insufferable? ;D
Oh man I love this movie so much, and I love all of Carrey's antics! Saddens me to hear that James doesn't like it.
I love the fact that they always give props to Ben. I rarely see that in other channels. Good on ya fellows. Ben... You rock!
This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and hearing James say he hates it killed my inner child a little bit
The line I always remember was "P-A-R-T why? Cause I gotta!"
If James watches the second one, I guarantee that he will soften his opinion on the first one.
This.

This video was comedy gold. Please do Son of The Mask: Mask Control
The Sequel was made on the Gold Coast. Always a sign of quality.
Do Son of the Mask… some of us want you to suffer.
The editing in this video is god tier. Well done to Ben
I think you'd have to go with the goofiness but then just add over the top, cartoon violence. Don't go gritty, lean into the goof.
I think if anything they should combine both angles by having it when somebody with actual cruel intentions Wears The Mask they become the hyper violent nigh unstoppable mass murderer from the comics whilst if somebody who’s good wears it they become goofy versions of their deepest desires
They should do it like a Mark Millar adaptation.
James....Cameron Diaz getting out of the car in that dress alone makes The Mask an amazing movie on its own 😂😂😂
"It's just me right?" Yeah man. This is classic 90's gold.
I watched half of it as a child and just remember feeling exactly as James described- I can appreciate it's an impressive performance, but I haaaaaaate it.
I watched it as an adult and I was instantly over Jim Carrey.
