  • Visit to Harties to see what the dam and water levels are like after the recent rains in Gauteng.
    We hoped for sluices to still be open but seems all the water was already released from the dam. Still awesome footage to watch.

    This DAM was our favorite spot to visit, or at least drive through on the way to visit our friends in Rustenberg. We left this beautifull country in year 2000, when it became obvious, that the new "damagement" is unable to govern by positive apartheid the country. Thank you South Africa for 25 years of nice life we spent there, God bless you and ALL your peoples. Best regards from Czech republic, formerly Czechoslovakia.

    Very lekker Dirk!. Maybe you could shoot a video at the Bronkhorstspruit dam wall. I took a bike ride out there recently and was surprised how pretty it is. A bit further downstream is a gorge with steep rocks. A favourite spot for the rock climbers and also very pretty.

    The hyacinth on that dam is completely out of control. It covers hundreds of acres of the total surface area. But it is a beaufiful part of Gauteng . The roads are not too bad but will need repairs after the rains in 2021

    Hi Dirk...very nice video.
    I would like to buy a drone this year, but people say it's a waste of many, because South African drone laws are very strict. You don't seems to have any problems...what are your thoughts on this?

    • @DirkGroblerII
      @DirkGroblerII  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am glad you enjoyed the video Nick, thank you.
      These videos were all made as a novice before I was formally employed in the commercial sector.
      The South African laws are very strict with good reason and in the interest of safety. It was only afterwards I realised how many of them I was breaking, and the risks I did not even realise at the time.
      Buying a drone is always a good idea and great fun if you are passionate about photo- or videography. You just have to be realistic about where you are allowed to fly and the risk involved.
      Getting your RPL is indeed a waste of money if you do not intend to become a commercial drone pilot. A RPL is only valid if flown under a registered ROC (RPAS Operating Certificate) holder aka registered commercial drone operating company.
      You can read more on the SACAA (South African Aviation Authority) website at this link.

      @High Praise Projects - Anywhere but within 10km of an airfield/airport, over people, any private property and public roads. The local SAMAA (South African Model Aircraft Association) club is normally a safe zone.
