But this isn’t the first Coleman tent we’ve reviewed. We recently covered the Coleman Skydome camping tent so in today’s review, we’re going to compare the pair!
The Coleman Pop-Up Camping tent comes tightly packed away with the pre-assembled poles already in place.
Unlike the Skydome tent where you have to stake out the corner and attach the poles yourself, with the pop-up tent, you only have to unhook the attached strap and the tent literally pops open in seconds.
All you need to do from here is secure the tent pegs and you’re done in no time.
There’s an adjustable rainfly that can be tied back for ventilation or pulled over if the weather turns bad.
Taped floor seams also helps keep the inside of the tent dry during rain.
Inside it sleeps four people pretty comfy, but there’s no reason you can’t have this all to yourself.
The Skydome tent on the other hand is a little more generous with the headroom. While it also sleeps 4, in the center, it allows 4 ft 8 inches of clearance with a gear loft at the top.
There’s also quite a big difference when it comes to the flooring.
While the Skydome has a waterproof, tub-like flooring with patented welded corners…
The Coleman Popup only has taped seam flooring. While it’s still water resistant, it’s a lot less comfortable if you’re sleeping directly on the floor.
But the coolest part about both tents is the Dark Room Technology they’ve applied to the interior.
When all doors and windows are closed up, a combination of mylar and polyester blocks out 90% of all sunlight meaning you can get a sleep in regardless of what time the sun comes up.
Dark Room also reduces heat absorption, meaning your tent won’t turn into a sauna by 8am.
In saying that, unlike the Skydome, the Coleman pop-up tent doesn’t really have a lot of thermal insulation and isn’t suitable for alpine or snow camping.
When it’s time to pack up, it’s a lot easier with two people, but just as quick as setup.
Fold into three circles, push out the air and secure with the attached strap and its ready to go back into the travel bag.
That’s compared to the tedious pack up you have to do with the Skydome.

My last tent was destroyed by my daughter and her friends on Spring Break because it was frustrating putting it together. I'm ready to take my dogs to the beach ⛱️ or the state park!
