Thanks for playing my map! I made it back in... 2018-2019 I think? That's a long time ago now. I've noticed a lot of new mappers who aren't familiar with most doom mapping conventions yet tend to make levels that aren't as abstract as most doom levels are. And that leads to a lot of "doom cute" and rooms that seem to serve no gameplay purpose. The big empty railway room near the start was supposed to show how the employees move around the facility, and that's its only purpose. The orange button only opens the big storage area. The whole area is optional, and I don't know what I was thinking when I was making it. I was considering cutting it completely but decided to keep it for preservation reasons. The chainsaw near the start is not a secret because... actually why is it not a secret? I probably thought it was too obvious to be a secret. The secret at the start was supposed to have a light glowing in front of it, but I might've used different lighting mode.
I thought it was a pretty good level! I like how it feels like an actual place. I do not care for DOOM maps that are generic mazes, so to create a level design where it feels like there is a story is a good thing. Like Decino said, maybe some more details in the plainer rooms.. I could see that, in the BFG trap room, instead of a teleporter you could have had the center collapse, and as you fall you teleport above the Hell room, falling onto the cliff you appear on.

When you pressed the orange button and it actually had a pressing animation, I literally went "wow" That's an impressive attention to detail. Also excellent use of Fireblu. This is honestly impressive for only his second map. Also three Arch Vile stuns in a row. Get yourself a lottery ticket, Decino.
It's a fine map. I did like the one area with the pillars coming down with ton of enemies around which includes Revenants and yeah I really like that fight. Nice secrets to be worth it to have & some cool features with hidden Fireblue wall as well from Crab Hermit himself. Nice job. 👍
I don't know why, but maps like this makes me kinda feel like a kid imagining I'm in a different world while playing. The doom cute and stuff really serves to seal that feeling in me hehe. Great map btw!

3:59 looking like a Half Life recreation in this reactor room. You climb up the back of the room and hit a button to activate it exactly like HL. And the tracks too major half life vibes
A lot of rooms feel cramped and awkward to navigate cuz of all the geometry and objects. I love all the little details placed around though, especially the floors using broken wall textures to look like rubble. Always nice to see OG textures used in a new way. Good environment progression too, adds a lot of implied story as you enter hell throughout the map!
I like watching your submissions because of the entertainment value, but also I like playing Hideous Destructor, and any time I find a map that might work for HDest is good
Hey decino! Remember the scrapped Lost Souls you reviewed in the Beta BFG video? Well a little birdie told me they were readded with new mechanics in the new episode.
3:12 you’re right, there are a lot of rooms that don’t seem to have a reason other than a few extra enemies and maybe a secret, like the computer room in entryway, or the entirety of administration centre.
While GZDoom doesn't have rewinds, there is a minimod called Autoautosave by m8f that saves under circumstances like a weapon being picked up, a secret being found, or even just a few minutes passing with none of the other criteria being met. It can be handy, but sometimes you die and the last save isn't as recent as you'd hoped.
so looks like for the 5th time my level was not chosen as like i said in the past since level submission 2 i have posted rngesus which i really hope maybe in the future you make like a new type of viewer submissions as you will randomly chose a level that was never picked and play that and yes each time i submit my level i do some updates and changes so its like version 5 now well anyways i still love watching

I run into the broken blur sphere, too... technically it works in the ZDoom part, aka monsters don't notice you until you wake them up but just like you demonstrated the classic random-angle-shooting behavior is not there... one could jokingly say it is a partially working partial invisibility powerup. Honestly, I don't bother with newer versions and reverted to trusty old v4.5.0. :) Btw. the quicksave system work a bit different in GZDoom, now, it's independent of other saves (you don't have to manually "designate" a save like before), and on top of it there is option to enable slot rotation up to 20 slots (for both quick- and autosaves) so repeated presses don't override the quicksave, at least right away.
That orange switch kind of gave me an idea. I think you can make a Metroid Fusion-style security lock system using switches that lower walls in front of unlocked doors. (With the walls in front of the doors using the same texture as the door to make it appear like the doors have been unlocked by the switch.)
3:00 I think they're supposed to be shipping containers, and the rails move them to the loading dock, where a ship comes in to pick them up. 12:21 you wanted to beat your meat... ball?
One thing I would love to see implemented in GZDoom one day is an equivalent to the IDDST/IDDKT/IDDIT commands that's in DSDA-Doom Would save an absolute mountain of a headache when trying to track down that last wayward kill and prevent yourself from having to scan though a fully filled-out IDDT automap for what seems like an eternity lmao Especially for GZDoom games with absolutely massive maps like Supplice, Hedon: Bloodrite and (from what I've heard) Relentless Frontier.

Feels like only the secret that required you to jump over a pillar needed it. And the optional orange button. Otherwise, it could have been vanilla? Maybe the room with the cybers would have been more awkward with the height difference if you couldn't look up? Hard to say.
Decino, can you do a video on the differences between the new doom+doom2 game port and the OG one? I'm pretty sure the chain gun and Doomguy's face reaction to damage is different
I know some purists would call it heresy but I honestly wouldn’t mind you replacing the default music unless it’s crucial for the experience since the map author couldn’t be bothered to do so.
With the name, I thought it has something to do with contra, like starting with a jungle etc :). The map starts with some memory of trick and traps, although the rooms are much smaller, and later it has a sewer maze session from TNT. The last part of hell scene is pretty cool with a lot of details, and the fight is not boring with some usage of height difference and blocking objects. I would say that overall, it is a cool map.The only problem is about backtracking

Running From Evil might be the best composition Bobby Prince ever made. That chromatic part during the guitar solo is so good.
I have to say the best thing about viewer submissions like this one is how it gets me inspired to install Doom Builder and try make something too

It's okay, most community source ports are superior in most ways. Easy cross platform multiplayer setup and joining is nice.
I think it's fantastic for the average doom gamer. Makes the extra stuff way more accessible then ever. Legacy of rust is dope AF.

It's in UDMF format -- floor textures were used as wall textures which is something vanilla Doom's map format cannot handle.

There are no gameplay differences, only the Boom implementation is. The ouch face is bugged and will be patched soon I reckon.
