- ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2014 Volvo S60 is all new with a 2.0L engine that's both tubro-charged and supercharged. In another accurate, fun and informative TFLcar review Emme and Nathan drive and review the newest 2014 Volvo S60 in scenic Red Rocks Canyon in Nevada.

That’s a Karen haircut If I’ve ever seen one
🤣
pixie cut
I see Nathan didn't get in the trunk this time, but he did give us a good peek of what could go in it >=)
I love Volvo. Such solidly built cars. And I'm glad that she reviewed it. Hers are always the best.
I have a 2012 V60 here in Japan. It's so much more beautiful than this model. Absolutely gorgeous car. The new one looks like they went back to a design that Americans could relate to. Too bad, really. Love the new engine, though!
It's funny how the more unintelligent among us always seem to find a way to blame Americans for pretty much everything.
Huh? I'm American. It's just that the V60 wasn't made available in the US until this year. It was too much of a departure from what the market was used to from reports I've read. No need to be jumpy man. :-)
@@ELFKidsVideos 2012 = EUCD platform (P3 for 2012 60 series) so I strongly doubt that. Also the best V60 is still the extremely limited run of Polestar models they made in 2015 before moving the entire 60 series to SPA platform from EUCD, the last hoorah for the nearly bulletproof 3L turbocharged si6 engine that volvo produced. I say nearly because around 2011-2013 volvo had a lot of random bad oil rings randomly in batches and defiantly some slipped through cracks.
This is by far the best Volvo made ever even more then the newer ones
Amazing efficiency from the Drive-E engine, 0-60 in 5.6 sec and still gets 28mpg combined, 295 torque too
Just randomly saw one of these in white. Best Volvo I've ever seen
I have had two Volvos, an S60 R Design that saved me in a head-on collision with an idiot in a ford explorer, and now a V60 that is the wagon of the same car. Living with the car I can tell you that the center stack is absolutely not a problem at all. The buttons really are just for features that you do not need to constantly use. You don't need a giant button, for example, to turn on the parking camera. Changing stations or music tracks is done with the steering wheel controls. The most common buttons, nav, radio and media (bluetooth audio) are closest and easy to use. Furthermore, Volvo has a really good voice recognition software. Unlike my wife's Mazda, which understands voice inputs about as well as a hearing-impaired drive-through cashier - the Volvo's navigation lets me input any address without pressing buttons. The only annoyance is that it makes you press a disclaimer button before using the nav. My only real wish for the car would be another 2 or 3 inches of legroom in the back seat. The lane beeps that Alexn1067 mentions is only if you get the tech package. Most don't have it so if that isn't your thing, avoiding it is pretty easy to do.
I like the car, the price is nice too. I have a 2004 S60 2.5T with the sport package that came with alloy 17' wheels, sportier seats, and a couple other little things. I love all the options and features it has and its an 04, such as memory seats, heated mirrors, heated seats, 20 radio presets, and rain/snow sensing wipers that I do not even find on my friends brand new cars. It has 93k on it and I have zero problems. I would love to get one of these in black, maybe even the R spec with the polestar package
Does this mean the end to roadflytv?
I don't know why you're hating, but it looks great. Understated, like volvos of the past.
I have to say this car looks really nice in person. I saw a few on streets and they look amazing.
I'm obsessed with this car.
About the buttons. You have to remember this car is made to drive in Sweden. In the winter. With gloves on. Touchscreen just doesn't work for its use case.
I every amazement! Did not know that Volvo started with Superchargers on their engines
OK--when I go to the Volvo site, the engine choices currently shown are the 5 and 6 cyl models--for the sedan. The V60 is being offered with the 2.0, so I am a little confused by this video
Woohoo, Emme's back!!! :-)
Volvo will always equal safety.
Back in the day, turbos were avoided because they costed around $10k to rebuild them. Is that still a problem in modern times?
Nah nowadays car manufacturers make engines smaller with a turbo because it is more efficient, most new trucks have smaller displacement with a turbo instead of big engine that’s naturally aspirated
Good Good car I like the turbocharger and supercharger design. I have a 2012 S60 R Design and I love that car. GOOD JOB GUYS
Emme -- you can cross the Volvo S60 with Lexus IS250, Buick Regal, BMW 328i (turbo I-4), Audi A4, and Acura TSX.
Great camera work.
Emmy switch from Roadfly TV to TFL Car !! Yeahhh
Good review Emme
Great little car, turbo and supercharger AWESOME! I agree with Emme about the center console buttons being too small, it looks weird.
Turbo typo in the description guys (and girl). Love the car, though i'd rather have a 5 cylinder :( Nice review so far :)
What's with the crooked bonnet?
Not closed properly
Emme is awesome. Great if front of the camera and she's a real driver
Definitely not your father's Volvo. The performance and economy look to be awesome and the design is easy on the eyes. At first glance the front end has an appearance very much like the VW CC, IMHO.
This video makes me want to get an old beater Volvo from the 70s-80s just for the heck of it. :D
dchawk81
I have had four Volvos, a P1800, 162, and 2 164s. The P1800 was trashed before I got it and went downhill from there. The first 164 was totaled by my first wife in an accident, she and the children were unharmed. The 142 went in the divorce from the first wife. When it was time for my second wife to get a car we got the next 164 which survived a number of misadventures, but no injury to the wife. They were tough but no safer than most modern cars are today. Performance and handling wise, well let's just say thew were safe cars. Sad to say the memories are better than the cars were.
Its just not TFL if Roman, Nathan or Andre aren't on a video.
Great video! Excellent car, we just bought one and we love it. Btw... you had the right hand side of the bonnet open throughout most of the video.
I love the S60 R-design. Looks great and the last 3.0 inline 6 turbo is both powerful and smooth, if at the expense of higher than average fuel consumption. The AWD system rounds off the list.
However, I have a big gripe with this current model tested; I love the idea of a twincharger 2.0 engine, but 300hp & near 300lb/ft going only to Front Wheels is a recipe for disaster, especially in winter time. This car CRIES for AWD. While not important in the States where snow doesn't really exist, in Toronto where the snowplows are often late to the party during morning commutes, it is really helpful to have on such a powerful car.
Nice rear
Great review, Emme.
Lmao the Lexus IS250 is such junk! No horsepower/Torque and same MPG's as the regular Volvo S60 T5. Everybody beat it XD
so does BMW 320i? Lexus brand is expensive.
Volvo is 1000x better than any Lexus
Just wondering, since I'm a big fan of Emme, how come we don't see more of her?
The buttons at best when you're in the cold with cloves on
also, to be honest any product from sweden country here in saudi is reliable and strong. remember that most car companies using fwd from a swedish company merc, bmw, audi, ...etc and check what i said if right or wrong and if right then u can't claim that Swedish car is bad in reliability since others using their fwd system
Awww yeah more videos with Emme :D
Having the old school telephone button interface has always been a major minus for me on this car.
NIce, well done by volvo. Would clearly take it over aura or lexus and very probably overall the german offerings, clean styling and very cool motor tech.
The car is great because of the pricing. And at the end of the video, priceless.
But, does it come equipped with a spare tire, a lot of new cars these days don't have a spare tire, you should include if it does/does not have spare tire in the reviews.???
No it's a fix-a-flat kit. Most cars are ditching them because of cost and weight.
hahaha end of the video, awesome :P
Anyone else notice the hood line in front is crooked? Noticeable near the end of video
You didn't mention one of the most important stuff, the new automatic gearbox that is 8speed and not the old slow 6-speed.
Volvo have done a great job here, the new petrols is good, drink less fuel and pretty fast and in Sweden we get the new diesels that are very good and all new engines come with the 8-speed automatic...big fail to not mention that.
This car in Europe can do 1100 Miles with One single Tank and still able to achieve almost 150 MPH top speed , Prius is a slow Gus Guzzler here in Europe
Something funny that it gives 6.0 sec to BMW 328i xdrive in a blink of the second slide. Well, 5.7 sec is reported all around for 328i, xdrive version is definitely faster than that in 0-60. BMW and Ford build one of the best turbo I4 in the market.
Wish they would bring the Volvo V40 over to the states
i don't know which is giving me wood.. the twin charged engine or the host...
Nice car never been Volvo fan before, but this one takes me.
The engine the 5 cylinder one used by Ford in the Focus RS or was it the ST?
Competition CTS? ATS?
Turbocharged & Supercharged! Now does it come in a manual?
I own a Volvo, it's a great car, but I can't imagine repair costs on a turbo and supercharger.
The turbo is similar to all found on our competitor's vehicles, it is the way of the future. The supercharger is a sealed unit with no maintenance made by the most reliable supercharger company in the industry. The engine is very impressive and alarmingly quick in acceleration. The only downside is slight harshness when compared to other engines that are more refined. However with 302 hp (325 after we release polestar tune in January 2015) and 35 mpg, the value and performance has no current competition. Hybrid set up will net 400 hp in 2015
The R version of this car will be insane!! it's already starting out with 305hp now, the R will be 400hp?? I just wish the body work is more aggresive.
No R variant in the pipeline yet, however our hybrid will hit 400 hp.
Matal A hybrid?? daang GO Volvo!!
I think you have the 2015 model year, not the 2014. I only say that because I own a 2014 XC-60 with the T-6 and there were no mention of those "E-Drive" engines at all. And, what is more kind of frightening is that in 2014 they, Volvo, started out with a new turbine housing using "Twin-Scroll Tec." and now that's gone by the wayside. Who knows that just might be enough to make my model design a bit more desirable on the "trade in market", simply because my year was a one off year. Sad really because that turbo, has NO LAG at all, any gear at any rev, especially the low rev range, usually where they suffer, this one does not. And since I had the Polestar enhancement done, that thing moves, quickly. Just today, a dude with a Dodge Charger R/T pack with the stripes and the cool sounding aftermarket exhaust could not pull away from me, we hit considerable speed between exits on the highway, because he was doing the same thing I was, just using one exit to get to another side of town. And the best part of the whole thing was that I did not even use full throttle! I haven't done that yet with this car, and I don't even have 8K on the clock. so I drive little, I'm still breaking it in, as far as I'm concerned. lol.
I like how the Q50's 0-60 was 'not published' no doubt it would smoke this volvo.
Yes, that's with a 3.7 L V6....and probably has crap mpg.
Great video and review, car looks great, only gripe is the engine sounds like a repair/maintenance nightmare.
Why do you say the engine sounds like a repair/maintenance nightmare?
The Q50 is listed with 229 ft/lbs or torque? Bullshit. It has 270 ft/lbs.
Don't hate on dat VQ.
Emme....cool outfit. You look like a 1930s European film director.
Was that the AWD version? Honestly Volvo is not known for reliability...Ball Bearing came shafts a turbo and a Super Charger that little engine can could will one day be the little engine that goes KAPUT!
So true I had a 97 960 that was the worst car I ever owned. Never buy another Volvo
mark williams Yes, because a car made 17 years ago is exactly the same as one made today.
Whether or not I would not buy another
mark williams You should play the lottery. you can put dynamite under a 960 and you might dent it. I bought a 92 960 as a backup 3rd car. I paid $2000 4 years ago with a bad engine computer it still ran even though it was rough. I let my aunt borrow lol it 3 years ago she still has it with 349,000 miles.the guy I bought it from said it needs work her mechanic said it was perfect go figure. you should have sold it in a Volvo enthusiast site you would have gotten top dollar running or not as the 960 is worshipped as one the greatest Volvos ever.
the engine in the 960 is awesome. Volvo only made three 6 cylinders as long as I remember. The B30, the 960/S90 24v I6, and the recent T6. I've always wanted a 960 rally car for Group 2 rallying.
If I have the money I would buy a Volvo rather than the Germans, sadly I don't.
Emmie we missed you . Where you been? :-)
Price should be more like a little over 40 thousand
The front end looks less inspired than the last version. The center IP is definitely ill-conceived. Where are you going Volvo?
The front of the car reminds me of a mix between a sonata and passat.
No mention of the sunroof?! Holla!
Awesome car
Weird annoying music track
I would buy a volvo, but every time I sit in it, the steering wheel is just too close too me, and I can't move it further away. It just feels odd. Other then that, it's great car. Good job, Emmy!
They all have telescopic steering wheels and adjustable seats, not sure if you didn't know or if no one told you.
Trust me I know. For some reason at an auto show the steering wheel doesn't go all the way back, but I don't know if that was only in cars at the auto show or if they are just like that all the time.
Brenden Walski That's definitely because it is only a concept. They tend to spend less time making every part work because they eventually will scrap most of the bits and pieces used. I would encourage you to sit in a real one, they have industry leading seats in terms of comfort and durability. Best of luck!
I can't say whether this car will be unreliable or reliable but I could have a guess especially when the engine has a turbo and a supercharger I hope volvo doesn't take a turn father then they already turned
I'm tired of people sleeping on the Volvo S60 just because "it's a Volvo".
The year of the car is off, it is the 2015 S60. Also i think the price that was quetoed was way off, this T6 will start at $38105 then add $3350 for the platinum package and $1500 for the technology package.
This car's front looks like between a VW Jetta and the new WRX
Nathan has a little creepy Hank Hill laugh.
since when does VQ37 in Q50 have 229 TQ? lol
Why are they comparing a bmw 320i instead of a 328i ?
The front end looks older than the pre-facelift S60. Hello 2005!
that hood gap is a bit large....
huh, $38150 is a really cheap price when converted to Swedish currency, seeing as how a stock s60 here costs about $34731 and a top of the line one with Black R kit and metallic paint is about $65500.
Why won't volvo update the xc90?!
All new one is coming out in 2015. 400hp hybrid or 325 hp 4 cylinder super-turbo.
why there is a farting sound in 8:23 lol jk.
Why do automakers do that with the tail lights? Just make it line up with the trunk!
re small buttons: surely after owning the car for a few weeks you will instantly know where the radio, nav, my car buttons are without even looking??
Ergonomics mean a lot actually. When buttons are the same shape and size, it's harder to tell them apart. Memorizing them isn't enough because you have to take your eyes off the road to make sure you're pressing the right one.
I still can't tell the 6(?) identical HVAC buttons apart by feel in one of my vehicles but in the one controlled by three knobs it's no problem. Granted I've had the knobbed vehicle for 4 years now but I've had the buttons for 4 months. 4 months SHOULD be enough time to get it down but...not so much. Oh and I can't tell the steering wheel buttons apart either. Still have to look down to know if I pressed ON, SET, or RESUME for the cruise.
5:17 I think they forgot about BMW 328i.
Damn it. You finally review this car and you botch it from the beginning.
This is a 2015 not a 2014. $38,150 for the Platinum T6 S60, "which is not too bad for everything that you're getting." Are you insane? This is a luxury car that directly competes with BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Lexus and you think $38k is a realistic price? You have no idea what you are talking about. It's $38k for the entry level T6 S60, not the fully loaded one. Get Roman and Mica back on the camera.
Twincharged like the Jetta TDI hybrid why not make more of these it's better for people who want almost no lag; And it's better that naturally aspirated for high altitude like where they're at.
I was about to say the same thing but the average American is still not ready for a diesel. at the end of the day the S60 is Volvos mainstream sedan. I think the Volvo loyal have been waiting for years for Volvo to bring diesels back but the automaker is trying to bring in new buyers.
Wheres the 2 friends! This is fake TFL review!
This car is like a CC+Fusion...
i'm sorry but on he video it said T6 2.0L 4cyl. But isn't the T6 a 3.0L 6Cyl 300+ Hp engine ? O.o i'm confused
the description also said "2.0L engine" but in the vid i can see the T6 with the 2.0L twin charged engine has ~300hp...... i think some one at Volvo messed up and badged a T4 as a T6
dunhillsupramk3 probably :P
dunhillsupramk3 No, those numbers are correct. The badge indicates power output not cylinder count. T6=300-350hp T5=240-299hp T4=Anything below 239hp.
Matal
but the Polestar S60 T6 has 500hp.....
dunhillsupramk3 The S60 Polestar is not a production vehicle. I can be called anything they want to call it, it doesn't have to abide by the same nomenclature rules that the actual production cars do. You can google it ;)
AWD?
How's the AWD system on thous? Can it follow where an Audi or subaru go?
Latest generation of Haldex, so yes. Small Audi, BMW, Mercedes, VW, Skoda, Seat and Volvo's uses Haldex.
The AWD system is better than Audi AWD systems. It's called Haldex and Audi actually puts it in the A3, S3, TT, and TT RS, rebranding it as 'quattro.' Haldex is also used by Land Rover and Bugatti. THIS S60 does not have AWD because it is FWD only until late MY 2016 where it will recieve a 100hp electric motor on the rear wheels, totalling +400 horsepower and boosting MPG even more.
Matal Yeah, but the S60 can already be had with Haldex with a couple of engine choices such as D4, D5 and T6. Might be more.
Really wish they would've left the headlights alone, they just look too bland now. The front almost looks like a vw passat.
Emme!!!
You shouldn't sit on the seat bolsters
Wish the gas mileage was a little better than 29 combined
For a 302 hp car? What were you looking to compare this to? That is a class leading number...
They should just call it the S60 Super-Turbo.
nice sweater vest :p lol
I think it looks like the 2013 Dodge Dart. I like cars.
shape looks like the 2014 corolla S
30150 dollars????!!?!?!? WHAT!!! in norway this is a 60,000 dollar car ish
